I 'unno what's going on on the #showyourface thread, but google is telling me there's malware [But only on page 9, for whatever reason.].
Is this itself a scam...or is google being an idiot?
I thought I'd throw this out there, as lots of people visit that thread.

It may have something to do with the website host of someone's picture/signature on that page. It happens a lot in google chrome, it used to happen with memegenerator I believe. Generally speaking I don't know if its safe or not, someone may unknowingly of hosted their pictures on a malware site or google could be overreacting, it usually sorts it self out after a while and stops giving that error.

Google Chrome is bad to use anyway, it has lots of security that black hats (Bad guys) can use to steal your stuff. Its recommended to use Firefox or a browser with similar security so you don't get hacked or anything.

you say a browser that has similar protection to googlychromy then it shuldn't matter coz it's the same protection that the baddies can hack

Hmmm, I simply found it odd, given in that the two years I've had this computer and Chrome, nothing of this sort had ever happened.

I think it's more or less on /my/ side, nothing on the website side.
No need to tag anyone, I guess.

you kinda said that already, i just don't see the point, why using firefox(yay foxes) when it provides the same protection as google chrome, it's not that hackers are going to say "oh, this person uses firefox! let's /not/ hack him"

What I attempted to say in my previous posts is that Firefox is /more/ secure than most popular browsers out there. While they still might attack you they will have a /much/ more difficult and annoying time getting past the security than with Chrome. Which, would cause alot of hackers to go find easier pickings.

damn you stupid mind!(was talking to myself here) why do i keep misreading stuf? i now know what you ment and looking back to it i was a complete derp :I

Yeah, no problem. People get confused by me alot, I'm used to it, ^~^. Not saying its your fault though, I have a way of saying things weird.

@MrScafuto 4/5 (80%) of the articles I just read said that Chrome has a slight edge in security because of its "sandbox model" as explained here by Wikipedia:
In computer security, a sandbox is a security mechanism for separating running programs. It is often used to execute untested code, or untrusted programs from unverified third parties, suppliers, untrusted users and untrusted websites.

Firefox doesn't have this, but it does have extensions that can sort of help. So in my opinion, Chrome has a slight edge in security (at least "out of the box it does").

Its been proved that sandbox models are /incredibly/ inefficient, just like the firewall, as viruses can now tell whether or not if they are in a simulated environment, which is what a sandbox is.What I meant when I said Firefox is more secure, is that it just has less security holes in it.
Edit:
My source of knowledge on cyber security, is actually from my dad, who is on the State board for cyber security.

Also @suzzie2 , it may be that you /already/ have a virus, and that error message you're getting is the virus pretending to be helpful, but really redirecting you to a fake website appearing to be the forums. Its better to be safe then sorry, and run a full system scan with whatever anti-virus you might have.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, and when I did some digging into the pop up, I found that Chrome does indeed do that.
But anyways, I think everything's fine now.
