'Ello Massive.

So. I've a story to tell, of when Ellador was first discovered. Myself and Prestatamore were walking in the Frozen North of Ellador 2 days after release. We happened across some stalactites (whatever the ones on the ground are) during a long walk. As we turned to leave, Pres said he saw a glimmer in the Ice. He dug into it, and to our gleeful surprise, we discovered something.

Throughout the North, there is Diamond ore and blocks hidden in the ice stalactites. On the surface.

That day, we walked home with 4 stacks of diamonds EACH. We quickly explored most of the North, and am happily sitting on near unlimited diamonds. So, I'd figure this story may as well be told, for we know there are a few areas we didn't search. So, lucky traveler, if you would like to take your chances, dig into the Frozen North, into the ice, and ye may just find a treasure beyond yer wildest dreams...

I do have a few questions for those who were involved in making Ellador...

1: What are the chests you find in the Stalactites suppose to have? They all are empty, when we found them.

2: Is there a story behind these diamonds? Are they the cargo of the lost viking ships you can find, scattered everywhere?

3: Whom was it on the Team who did this, because whomever it was, I thank you ;)

Are you talking about the small ones? or the big, really big one? This sounds rather abusive to me...maybe a missconfiguration....but yeah.
Since these large pillars are created through terraincontrole, it must be in that configuration and nothing in them.
If we are talking about the small ones, then it was a BO2 we spawned in, this means chest get empty. Maybe there was something in there once...but this got lost on purpose.

I found a few there, but I didn't mine them since I forgot my pick.

There isn't very many though. At least not when I was looking.

We found them in both the small ones, and the big ones. We found them perhaps... 30% of the time, for every stalactite. While we were the first to discover this, we expect someone else has to, as we saw dug in stalactites we hadn't marked... So don't expect to find many left.

A handful of the BO2's used for Ellador have diamond ore or blocks in them. It's sad, because you run across random holes dug in the ice surface where people have dug into the surface terrain. Hopefully it's a lesson to world builders to not do that in the future. Now they can't even easily regen the damage because the diamond blocks will reappear and the terrain griefing will be repeated.

It's really too bad, because the ice oceans in Ellador look great!

On the plus side, did you backfill the ice and snow you dug up to get to all the diamonds, so there wasn't an ugly hole and/or water flows? Then it really wouldn't be too bad and the terrain would be intact.

On the plus side, months of an area not being completely riddled with terrain damage on a high-activity server is a pretty good achievement!

I think his TP allowed him to see through ice, but I wouldn't know. Regardless, we aren't X-rayers, we just wanted to share something we found in Ellador's first days. And yes, we did refill the ice we dug up, so it didn't look 'orrible.

No need to get pissy about somone getting to treasure before you have the chance to, gchris. First of all, I was using the MassiveCraft official texture pack, which actually does allow you to see through ice. Secondly, I noticed that one couldn't see all the way through the ice stalagmites, and dug into one to see why that was. As I found out, they were filled with snow. Surprisingly, in hollowing the thing out, there was diamond ore at the bottom. And we did restore the ice parts of the glaciers, but admittedly not the snow that was within them.

Don't you accuse me of being a filthy, lowlife hacker ever again, you worthless slackwit.

Lovely that you've posted this potentially game changing find AFTER you've exploited it to the farthest extent xD Coulda just asked when you found it :P
