Shamukh! And welcome to my guide to dwarven phrases! These can be used in roleplay, especially amongst dwarves. I hope that this guide will also entice some new dwarven roleplayers to join the fray. These words are from Neo-Khuzdul, the dwarven language of The Lord of the Rings series, and is the dwarven language that Massivecraft uses. All translations are thanks to the Dwarrow Scholar. I urge all of you interested in dwarves to check him out. He has a series of YouTube videos on learning Neo-Khuzdul, and several other lessons for learning Khuzdul can be found on the internet. So, without further ado, let's get started! The Dwarrow Scholar: https://dwarrowscholar.wordpress.com/ 200 Everyday Neo-Khuzdul Phrases: https://www.memrise.com/course/1399741/200-everyday-neo-khuzdul-phrases/ (This is where I did a lot of the research for this thread!) Should any other phrases come up that aren't listed in the links above, I will gladly use the Dwarvish Dictionary I have to translate the phrases. Please only request phrases you would actually find use for in roleplay. Also, I have a longer phrase book in-game, if anyone is interested. Simply craft a book and quill and hand it to me. I will copy the book over.
We have not used Tolkien languages in our RP for quite some time, not since crafting our form of Elvish for use by the player base. Unfortunately, that makes this guide lore incompliant.
Dwarven naming customs on the wiki is a mix of Scandinavian other northern languages and Fantasy dwarf names. Feel free to still ask though because I get mixed answers all the time. @indyfan98 when we RP in speaking Dwarven we just preface our local chat message with <Dwarv>
