Born in Gallovia’s highest peaks, Drythelm was born to Dryth and Forhelm, a family of millers.

He spent his adolescence learning the family trade of milling and farming. He picked up how to brew with the hops he grew.

In his adult years, he was known mostly as a honest man, but at one point made an honest mistake, accidentally cheating a man out of wheat. His one finger was cut off due to this as punishment.

He left the village soon after, claiming to be going hunting, but ran away to avoid any more trouble. He found himself in Regalia soon after. Here, he was surrounded by peoples the likes he had never seen before. Some seemingly normal, some almost magical to him.

Drythelm’s home village’s religion revolves around the worship of a being known as All-Creator, referred to with male pronouns exclusively. This being was split into an infinite number of parts, each creature, rock, plant, star, etc. all have a part of the All-Creator, with the ground beneath their feet being all that remains. However, the All-Creator, splitting himself into these parts, destroyed his body in the process, leaving the world without a god. It is the place of Drytheim’s village’s people to sacrifice animals and inanimate objects to try to help their god regain his power.

The religion has no clear beginning or origin. It seems to be as old as the village itself. The village has lacked a scribe for so long that little has been recorded of the faith. With the village being entirely illiterate, it wouldn’t matter anyways. Many of them have not been faced with written word before, either, as there is no trade with the outside world. As such, it can be assumed that the faith, as it exists now, is so far removed and twisted from its founding that any past generations would be appalled by the current beliefs, myths, and practices seen today.

The general idea of their faith is tradition, both oral tradition, that being storytelling and preaching, and tradition in terms of actions and consequences. The society is highly conservative in many ways, with traditional gender roles being enforced. Little has been said on the topics of sexuality and dressing in the garb of other genders, but it seems to have gone unspoken that those with non-traditional urges should keep them under wraps.

The ideas of taboo are often seen as unorthodox in some ways, as simple, honest mistakes are often taken to be high crimes with heavy punishments levied against those that made them. The general idea is to be honest and thorough in your work, sticking to a trade the rest of your life. Those that cheat, steal, trick, or shortchange others are often given two tries. First time, you are maimed, second time, you are killed. There exists no trial, and the killing is brutal, often taking the form of sacrifice akin to the animal sacrifices.

This religion is forced upon everyone in the village, and those that do not conform are executed. However, this rarely happens, as most that question the faith run away or hide it well. It is fairly easy to hide faithlessness, as no place of worship exists in the village beyond a deep pit, presumably once a mine (though no local would question it), where sacrifices are dropped down to die.

According to the faith, little else exists but the village. And the village is so secluded, high in the mountains, that there is little evidence to the contrary. An occasional airship might fly overhead, but the village elders claim them to be dragons, so they are left alone. The only race inhabiting the village are Ailor of all racial codings, as per usual. No other races exist in their views, so those that leave and find other towns and even cities are often in denial. Other races cause even more confusion, as many look far too alien to them.

The only symbol of the faith is a carved wooden amulet that all in the village wear, marking their profession. You cannot leave your house without it. They are carved from wood from the evergreen trees surrounding the village, of which the villagers make no distinction between species. Upon death, the amulet is burned with your body, as per tradition.

The forests are dark and thick, with various fauna roaming them that locals have stories all about. These stories vary from simple hunting stories to stories of magical talking animals doing all sorts of strange and fantastical things. A common pastime is to create stories with your imagination and then try to convince others they are true. Many in the village have been so exposed to these stories that it usually only works on children.
