So many years were spent on his peaceful homelands, free of worry and the ability to pursue his faith in the presence of others with a likened mind. Such a life however, however pleasant and full of opportunities for spiritual growth grew stale with time. Darian, being a scholarly alchemist hungers for more. Darian thereby sees Regalia as a hub of growth, knowledge and arcane secrets that he can tap into. Raised to a Ciellonian couple, both loving and of pure bloodlines—Darian grew up in what could be considered a typical township in the plains of Southern Daen. With no real significance to his upbringing, much of his life could be considered standard. His father in particular, was a travelling merchant who would make frequent and often weeks long visits to Windgarden. Every few months, Darian would accompany his father and expose himself to the last major hub of civilization ruled and managed by Ciellonian guidance. This was where the bulk of his education and learning experiences occurred, so it was always a treat to be able to make the journey from his township to Windgarden. Darian enjoys caring for plants and cultivating them, not only for alchemical purposes but the sheer honour of being a shepherd for the natural life given by Estel. He has a fondness for nature and always makes an attempt to bring it into his home, or to others. This is further demonstrated by his experienced hand in horticulture. As a result, his secondary goal is to open a flower shop, where he can sell and demonstrate his abilities in exchange for coin. Spoiler: Inventory Information (Optional) Alchemy Belt Darian's standard alchemy belt contains three concoctions for various uses. These generally are kept to remain available if healing needs to be performed or if defensive measures need to be taken. Consult OOC for specific alchemical items if the reasonable identifying proficiency exists. Each concoction is marked with the Cielothar's initials, D.R. Scribbled Spellbook To catalogue his magical knowledge, Darian formed a book of spells for himself so he could use his magics to the greatest degree. His spellbook keeps a page for each spell the Cielothar knows, and he makes additions to it whenever necessary. The Cielothar holds this book very closely to him, as he tries to guard his Sorcery as much as possible. Estellian Pendant As a symbol of faith, Darian wears a ring of Estel's Jewels around his neck which tethers a pendant with various Ciellonian iconography and religious figurations. This pendant which is bound by the prayer bead like plant is a symbol of Estel, with the All-Mother depicted as the primary focus. He holds this pendant as close to him as he holds his fanatical faith. Incense Kit True to his ideals, the Cielothar believes that all should be perfect—even atmosphere. Hence, Darian carries a kit of pleasant incenses, with scent ranges from lavender to orange. These help Darian to remind him of the faint trails of fresh fruits and aromatic scents from his homelands. Rough Journal Adventuring from the Ciellonian Plains was not an easy undertaking, so it should come as no surprise the Cielothar keeps a catalogue of his adventures in Regalia. Rough and imperfect, his journal is filled with miscellaneous writings about his adventures crossing the seas to Regalia. While it is a personal journal, it isn't extraordinarily highly valued to the Cielothar—as it only describes his adventures in Regalia. Bird Seeds Darian carries around a bag of bird seeds to feed to his familiar, Raymondias the Crow Eagle. This is so that he can always eat something on the go. Conveniently stored, they are a lifesaver when Raymondias is without food for a while. Even if the Crow Eagle doesn't really need to eat, it's a nice gesture to have nonetheless for his closest companion. = Skill Information = "And to whom do we owe our talents? As natural for a Cielothar, the elf finds himself sometimes confused for being an adolescent. Nevertheless, Darian's hair grows white flowers occasionally, as well as his ear helixes have feathers. His hair also flows in an ethereal, airy and wavy form, and is routinely clean of any blemishes. The elf's body is not clearly the most overbearing or powerful body, as his slim figure and little investment in physical training is clear. The elf's studies have been primarily in Alchemy and Sorcery, as a result it is hard to point out any feature whereby he could be considered strong or "buff." Hence, his skin however is a typical Daen tan, with some lighter shades emergent, but still considered fairly Cielothar and on the blend between peach and light brown. His wrists have a tattoo resembling a Celtic Knot when his Ta'rath is not actively summoned, and his forearms have a similar designed tattoo which is capable of producing light when activated. Darian prefers to keep his clothing to a modest minimum; as it is his belief that dressing extravagantly on a daily basis, as the arrogance of the Altalar ever so tend to do, detracts from the penultimate image of Estel. For he believes that only one should shine above all others, and it is the All-Mother to which he believes he owes all life on Aloria to, and if not that then owing to it's purity. Hence, his clothes are moderate robes, comfortable, but nevertheless modest save for his only pseudo-jewelry which would be his pendant. Due to his mutations, Darian speaks with a hallowed echo as he is quickly able to command a room. His voice has an ethereal ring to it, hence when isolated without a mutation, the elf sounds calm and subtle in contrast. He sounds much like a comforting friend, however this is often concealed by his echoing voice nowadays. He often speaks eloquently, a side effect of him knowing Plains Altalar. = Personality Information = "One is rarely an individual, if not an individual to serve the greater picture. Our identities are like cells, in a larger system that is not perceivable. Let that identity serve the Greater, let it serve Her." Character Alignment True Neutral This comes from the fact that Darian's faith overpowers his lifestyle decisions. Grown to exalt Estel in all Her glory, the Cielothar does not think much about morality when it comes to elevating the Goddess. In all honesty, the morality of the Exist may not be as it is perceived—and Darian is aware of this. What he follows is that the Exist is divine above all other principals in Aloria, and thus, his morality is neutral—only seeking the elevation of the Exist and thereby Estel above all else. Personality Type ENTP-T—The Debater Darian is logical and hungers for theological debate and conversation. Actively seeking it out amongst people, his ultimate goal is to always bring others to realize and worship Estel as the ultimate Mother of Creation. Hence, he is passionate about using his words to sway the hearts of others to his cause, and will not hesitate to preach of Her divinity. Character Religion Syncretic Belief (Faith of Estel + Cult of Order) Faith of Estel (10/10) Darian believes without doubt that the All-Mother created all which can be experienced, and follows the Ciellonian Sect of the Faith of Estel. He pursued formal education in the topic and is highly aware of the various sects, but still chooses the one he is closest to. Nominally, he believes that by worshipping Estel—he is guided through the chaos of life and protected always. Holding Estel above the Pantheon even, Darian sees little use for worshipping her children, yet will acknowledge them when necessary as they are her agents. Cult of Order (10/10) Having a syncretic belief with the Faith of Estel and Cult of Order follows Darian's mind closely. He believes that the Exist is the Divine Throne of Estel, and the Dimension itself was created to exalt her power. As a result, he has no issue with worshipping the Exist as Estel's throne, holding Her as the ultimate icon for which the Exist was appointed to serve. Through the Exist, Darian knows that he can tap into Her Gifts, and bring the natural order of reality, prescribed by the All-Mother to the masses. Spoiler: Weaknesses (Optional) Zealousness Sometimes, one might perceive Darian as being overly zealous. In these cases it is reasonable to think that Darian has a pseudo obsession with the Faith of Estel, and the worship of Estel herself. Whilst he sees other Pantheon members as commendable, he holds Estel in the highest and direct line of praise. Perhaps there is a reason for this, or just a deep insecurity. Stubborn Hand in hand with his zealousness, Darian can be considered stubborn. Often clinging to his ideas, his motivations and never letting others interfere, nor change his mind about anything. This can make Darian difficult to see other perspectives, and he is trying to change this, hence his time in Regalia. Convictionless Darian has no conviction of his own, yet still is devoted to his Goddess. Why might one ask? This is simply because, Darian has grown up expecting Estel to provide for him, and that there is no questioning Her divine authority. Thus one may think that Darian does not do this for himself, but rather because it is the only thing he knows, as such more often he goes with the flow of his pre-existing beliefs rather than his own heart and soul, and as such, he perhaps may need to discover this for himself sometime in the future. Spoiler: Personality Information (Expansion) Darian simply has a habit of yawning when he is not interested in a conversation. While one may consider this, perhaps a common quirk, at the very same time he excessively yawns even if he doesn't mean to be disrespectful. His attention can rarely be held for long periods of time on topics which he is not interested in, and this is expressed by quick fatigue which is restored only by escaping the conversation. Interestingly, Darian has practiced in flute playing as a hobby while in his hometown in Southern Daen. He had worked out a few songs when he was being tutored by his mother, showing great dedication and promise before leaving for Regalia, as such Darian can be considered a moderately talented woodwind player. Likes Meditation For Darian, meditation is an excellent way of channeling spirituality and engaging in prayer. Sitting down and engaging in a blank relaxation state is not only relaxing, but helps him hone in on his spiritual needs. Spicy Foods Darian much prefers the taste of spice to mild foods. For some reason, this is an odd quirk of his. There is no exact reason for his preference, only that he enjoys the 'sensation' of the spice as opposed to the plainness of mild foods. Lavender and Sage The elf enjoys the scent of these two reagents. Interestingly, he believes they have purification properties as well as a positive energy, which is precisely why he keeps them on his inventory whenever possible. Kaffee When selecting a caffeinated beverage of choice, Darian's first pick is kaffee. This may come as a shock to many, as Cielothars often prefer tea and herbal beverages. Not Darian, he requires the intense stimulation of a good cup to power him through the day. Dislikes Confrontation Darian does not appreciate direct confrontation, especially when it becomes hostile. He often can become either anxious, or enraged by this. Should he be enraged, forget anxiety. Wilful Ignorance It is important to the elf that people try and educate themselves on topics they may be lacking knowledge in. Hence, he cannot blame people for ignorance, only they can try to learn. But, should one wilfully be ignorant, it can definitely upset him. Arid Environments One of Darian's favourite things is weather, particularly stormy and rainy weather. The antithesis of this is obviously an arid environment, where rain is uncommon. Darian hates the dryness, even though his hometown planes were somewhat considerably arid on some days. The Void Anything associated with the Void is something Darian views as harshly bad news. Darian cannot tolerate the Void because it is in diametric opposition to what Estel stands for, and by extension, the Exist. Darian will go to any effort to rid himself of the clutches of the Void which he believes is becoming an increasing problem in Regalia. Spoiler: Relationships (Optional) Family (Mother/Father/Sister—NPC) Knowing three members of his primary family, Rosia, Farandal, and Persefey (Commonized Names), Darian respects and honors his family from his homeland plains. Darian knows his parents to be great people, as they taught him many things and provided him with great experience in life. His mother, Rosia, taught him the art of healing sorcery, and his father, Farandal, taught him alchemical tricks while in Windgarden. His sister, above all is one he wants to protect; Persefey. Younger than Darian, his sister is still forming her education at home and he wishes to see him sometime or another. Petal Court (IC) Darian is friends with most of the members of the Petal Court. Those who gather near the Yanar Gardens in the city are people that Darian wishes to guide and protect to the fullest extent. As a result, he always is making new friends at this location of the city and open to new experiences here. This is where Darian feels most comforted and at home in the larger than life City of Regalia. = Life Story = "For many, life is a tapestry of infinitely many stories. There is no one pathway, but several. It is your choice what path to take, but nevertheless, She is always watching, and for the faithful; guiding." Born from the Ciellonian plainsfolk of Southern Daen, Darinrael Everei Lyarian Raylaikaen was given first breath in a place of harvests, bounty and joy. A harmonious life at first sight, the young Cielothar was healthy and did not fall to illness. Darian grew up fast, his parents guiding him on a pathway of life that was typical for most Ciellonian children. Early days in the nursery of the township were fun and filled with lots of playtime with the other children of the village. Life became serious when the young child met his father's stark beliefs in the Faith of Estel. His mother, less convicted felt bound to the faith—but it was his father who held such a stark conviction for the faith. Early lessons in the religion began in the most subtle ways, prayers before meals, prayers at dawn and dusk, flowers and Estel's Jewels crowned the house that Darian would grow up in. He was inquisitive, following the faith and looking for the signs in the world that would lead this ideology into his heart. One summer's eve, around his birthday—Darian encountered a wolf in the wilds of his local town. The wolf did not act, nor attack, it simply looked upon the boy with stark eyes. He noted the beauty of the wolf, the elegance and poise. The wolf had a place in nature, shortly after—the wolf returned to the woods, though a cry was heard by Darian shortly after, a cry of death. As startling as this was, Darian brought it to his father. His father sat down and had a chat with Darian about the natural cycle of life, how the All-Mother was not always kind, how she had prescribed a system of perfection, order, and balance to the world that had to be followed at all times. All things must eventually die, so Farandal convinced Darian that death was not cruel, but death can only be granted at the behest of the All-Mother's eternal wisdom and guidance. It seemed that this event stirred Darian's conviction, the story of the wolf who did not attack him—but killed another creature for it's survival. Darian begun to see the beautiful cruelty of the world, and even fell in some sort of trance for it. The All-Mother's creation was worth defending at all costs, he knew. The elf's piousness quickly brought out his father's proudness and it allowed Darian to accompany his father on trips to Windgarden, learning all he could. Even, learning about alchemy from a young, adolescent age. At the very same time, scholars would give Darian formal lessons in the school of his town, and for weeks he would have many interesting assignments to take with his father to Windgarden. His piousness led to him passing the Trial of Estel and being brought into the Circle of Aiel, bringing many opportunities for Darian to flourish. A trip to his grandfather's cottage after his trial is particularly memorable for the Cielothar—his grandfather, being an Elder Shepherd would give many oral lessons to Darian after passing the trial. Some lessons were perhaps, morally questionable, but there was considerable resonance with Darian after these 'lessons'. After his lessons in alchemy and general education, the Cielothar's mother, Rosia would offer to teach him the ways of magic, horticulture, and flute, a lifeblood that flowed through every Cielothar. He would also learn to harness his natural powers, and he knew that by the grace of the All-Mother he was permitted these gifts. Darian excelled in his learning of Sorcery, even contacting various village Elders and Priests for enrichment. He learned all he could—and would even participate in working at the town's apothecaries and medical clinics for many years. Here, Darian was blessed with his Exist Mutations. After blossoming in his hometown, the young Cielothar would set his sights on pursuing grander education—Regalia. But he knew that Regalia was far from his homelands, and not like his accustomed faith, so he set out first to the Minolla Convecture to gain a formal religious education, so his mind would not be swayed by the lies and tricks of the chaotic city. In addition to studying the Faith of Estel, Darian picked up Modern Altalar whilst studying among many Altalar peers. Achieving his education allowed him now to gain a better insight into his faith, he set out to Regalia with this education, fresh in his mind and would make many new friends in the city, even becoming the acolyte of the Priest Talisin at Petal Court. With a new community of friends and allies, Darian feels more ready than ever to bring the word of the All-Mother to all he can.
