When in dark settings, the pupil and iris of Woaden Ailor gain a a reflective sheen akin to a nocturnal predator's that, should they be in the shadows, allows one to only see two light orbs. Free Spirit - Woaden Ailor cannot be unwillingly grabbed, grappled, held or restrained by Mundane means utilizing any Mundane implement (excluding metal chains) or body part (Arms, tails, limbs, claws, talons, etc), even if that body part is enhanced or altered by an Ability or for example a ghostly or ethereal animal. This does not apply to purely Ability-Based restraints such as magical chains. Child of the Woods - Woaden Ailor can effectively climb almost instantly into a Tree of any shape or size, without risk of falling (though cannot leap between trees, and will in most cases be stuck if chased into one). Additionally, they can immediately determine how healthy or old a tree is just by looking at it, and pinpoint anything that may be harming it or causing it to suffer. Soul Drain - The Werebeast hungers for Soul Essence, needing to feed on a regular basis to remain in control of their sanity and not turn into a feral beast. Feeding can be done on any non-Vampire or non-Werebeast, with Primal Mages and Primal Lineage targets being especially juicy and tasty for the Werebeast. Soul Drain is activated by Direct Touch. If a Werebeast and their target are alone, Soul Drain also paralyzes the target, making them unable to escape or move, but still aware of what is happening around them. If other non-Werebeasts are within Emote Distance, this paralyzing effect does not occur, and the target can wrestle themselves free. Draining takes about 5 minutes, and if completed, leaves the target exhausted for 5 minutes after the Soul Drain completed. Soul Drain can be used in Normal Shift, Halfbeast Shift, and Beastmode Shift. If a Werebeast is denied Soul Essence for more than a week, they are locked into Beastmode and become feral, unable to respond to communication, until they have Soul Drained anyone, after which they turn back. Normal Shift - Normal Shift is the default state of the Werebeast. While in Normal Shift, the Werebeast can use all Werebeast Abilities from their Fusions, but looks entirely normal otherwise. It however does not apply any Physical Stat bonuses gained from the Fusions Halfbeast Shift - Halfbeast Shift allows the Werebeast to apply some animalistic features to their appearance, but it does not wholly make them unrecognizable as Beastmode does. For example, they might have tufts of hair on their face, larger canine teeth, hair or scales on their forearms, or feathers on their back. Their face should still be roughly recognizable as their Normal Shift, but can also have a flattened and widened nose, etc. Additionally, their eyes become bright silver with a light blue glow. It however only applies half the Physical Stat bonuses gained from the Fusions. This Beast Shift can be maintained indefinitely, and transforming is instant. Halfbeast can have tails, or not. It is up to the player. Beastmode Shift - Beastmode Shift allows the Werebeast to apply their entire animalistic appearance from all Fusions. This means their skin will be replaced with fur/scales/feathers/carapace, their head changes to that of an animal. The shape remains humanoid, that is to say, an Ursarr does not turn into a bear, but their skin and head appears like that of a bear, making them appear like one, and they become entirely unrecognizable. Additionally, their eyes become bright silver with a light blue glow. It applies the full Physical Stat bonuses gained from the Fusions. This Beast Shift can be maintained indefinitely, and transforming is instant. Beastmode can have tails, or not. It is up to the player. Loyal Empathy - The Werebeast is able to sense the emotions of a person by touching them, which is an ability that cannot be turned off, sometimes resulting in sensory confusion. This cannot be used to tell a lie, but does give an accurate reading on the emotional state of whoever they share physical contact with. This ability is powerful enough to allow the Werebeast to sense their emotional pain, and even make them able to absorb a part of it, reducing the suffering of the other person. Howling Call - The Werebeast is able to produce a wolf-like howl that can be heard all over Regalia (even in the sewers) that notifies all other Uthurenn Werebeasts of their exact location. This Ability can be used once every hour. Uthurenn Strength - When in Beastmode Shift, the Werebeast gains +10 Physical Stat, or +5 while in Halfbeast Shift, and +0 while in Normal Shift. This Physical Stat boost also increases the Physical Stat limit by the same amount. Bonding Link - The Werebeast is able to produce a mental link between themselves and another person, producing a red mist-like tether between themselves and their target. Any wounds inflicted on the target by third parties is automatically transferred to the Werebeast. This Ability has no Cooldown, but if Countered, goes on a 5 minute cooldown. Bound Tracking - The Werebeast can track a person anywhere within 1 hour of having tasted their blood, or drained their Soul Essence. The Werebeast must consume the blood either freshly from the person, or within 15 minutes of it being shed for this ability to function. This tags the target as Tracked for the duration of the Ability. Teeth of Steel - The Werebeast can enchant their teeth, causing them to be indestructible, and if clenched down on something, can bite through metal to the strength of chain armor and even break swords (though not bars or beams). Enchanting or removing the enchant is instant, and has no cooldown. If the Ability is Countered, it is put on a 10 minute Cooldown. Enduring Hunt - The Werebeast does not have any fatigue loss, meaning they can continue to train, fight and run for as long as they please. This also prevents any forced fatigue or tiredness mechanics caused by other spells or abilities, and also protects against forced-sleep mechanics. Eye Color: Grey Hair Color: Dirty blonde Hair Style: Medium-length, shaggy; normally clean-shaven, but has reddish stubble by evening Skin Color: Ruddy Clothing: Simple tunic with belt, cloak over right shoulder, sturdy boots Height: 5'10'' Spoiler: Werebeast Shifts Halfbeast Shift - Conor looks similar to his regular appearance at a first glance, but is unsettlingly beast-like upon closer inspection. His nose flattens somewhat into a dog-like snout and his canines grow longer and his teeth become sharper, although still hidden when his mouth is clothed. Grey fur sprouts along his neck, jaw, the backs of his arms, and the backs of his hands, and his nails darken and become dull claws, though these can be more-or-less hidden by gloves and clothing. His eyes become bright silver with a light blue glow. Beastmode Shift - Conor takes on the head of a grey wolf with soft dog-like eyes, still silver with a light blue glow, with coarse, shaggy grey fur sprouting all over his body and softer white fur under his throat and belly. A stiff black 'mane' like that of a hyena sticks out from the back of his neck and extends to just below the shoulders, eventually flattening out into a black stripe that extends all the way down his spine. Black stripes branch out from this dorsal marking, extending only as far around as his ribs. His teeth continue to sharpen, especially his canines, which thicken and lengthen into a pair of tusks that reach just below his chin when his mouth is closed, and his nails lengthen into dark-grey dull claws. A bushy tail comes down behind him, the same dark grey as the rest of his body but with a black tip. Character Alignment: Lawful Neutral Personality Type: ESTP-T - The Entrepreneur Extraverted - 75% Observant - 73% Thinking - 60% Prospecting - 64% Turbulent - 54% Religion: Draoidh Feya (3/10) Childhood (268 - 280) Born in Ériu-Innis to a middle-class family of weavers which had, within the last couple generations, clawed their way from their poorer previous station as shepherds. It was a comfortable upbringing, but one always under pressure to live up to expectations, or risk family embarrassment. Conor's uncle, Curoí, was known to their community as a seanchaí, a keeper of history and folklore, and greatly feared and respected by all. Conor adored his uncle, following him to all of his tellings and helping to serve food and drink to his listeners. Eventually, he learned to accompany his uncle with the steady beat of a goat-skin drum for dramatic effect and to join him in melancholy song. Adolescence (281- 286) As he grew older, Conor began to learn the family business and did well, but found it dull and not challenging enough. He began to take an interest in medicine and was allowed to borrow old texts and observe one of the local doctors, provided he kept up with his work at home. Perhaps the ambitious family believed that his studies would help to raise the family prestige higher. Eventually, he would accept an apprenticeship under the doctor and would thrive in the challenging field, entertaining patients with his stories and genuinely enjoying helping to ease their suffering. On his seventeenth birthday, Curoí told Conor that he had a gift for him, in honor of his becoming a man. The boy didn't hesitate to follow him wherever he went, but was alarmed to find not the cheerful and bright-eyed man he knew, but a hairy creature with the head of a black wolf. However, before he could run away, the creature spoke and he recognised the voice of his uncle, causing him to relax slightly, if still cautious. Curoí explained that this was a gift passed through the elder male line for generations, but one that they had to keep secret because those not gifted with it couldn't understand its power. Since his own son had fallen to fever five winters previously, Conor would be the next in line for it. Conor was frightened by the sight and turned to leave, but was seized by a clawed and furry hand. When he turned back, the formerly-calm face had changed into one of rage, declaring that this "young pup" wasn't going to reject his gift and break generations of tradition, putting them all at risk, and Curoí began to Soul Scry, turning his nephew into a werebeast like himself. Adulthood (287-Present) Conor continued his studies in medicine, working alongside the doctor and healing patients during the day, and training his hunting and fighting skills with his uncle by night. Since both had the Enduring Hunt, this was easy enough to do. Curoí was a demanding teacher, but full of life and encouragement, taking obvious delight in his nephew's growing strength and competence. The two grew even closer than they had been before, the terrifying circumstances of their bond long forgotten. One night, the two were walking back home after a late story-telling and drinking session when they were chanced upon by a group of Sanguine. Clearly outnumbered, Curoí attempted to fend off the Sanguine for long enough for Conor to escape, telling him to run for the woods. But Conor didn't get far before he heard a yowl of pain behind him and, turning, found Curoí mortally wounded in the middle of three slain Sanguine. Furious and grief-stricken, Conor forgot his uncle's instructions and leapt back into the fight, shifting into Ravaging Form and slaying one Sanguine before the other fled. As the battle-frenzy faded from his eyes, Conor returned to his human form and immediately began trying to tend to Curoí's wounds, but it quickly became apparent that it was too late. When he lifted his tear-and-blood-stained face, he met eyes with a trio of guards who had come to investigate the source of the commotion. There was a moment of frozen silence as both stared at the other, then it was broken as the guards drew weapons and Conor scrambled to his feet, running for his life into the trees, where he could hide indefinitely. They never found him, but he knew he couldn't return back to his family home. Conor spent the next couple decades as a 'lone wolf', refusing to let another werebeast into his lonely pack to avoid the pain of loss. With his skills as a doctor and storyteller, he found it easy to find work and hospitality as he travelled, but always having to leave when it seemed that the locals were getting suspicious. After a dispute with another small group of werebeasts ended with him bloodied and left for dead, he decided to seek out more like himself, both for the safety of numbers and to ease the lonely ache that had settled into his soul. Regalia, it was rumored, had multiple packs in the Undercity and plenty of prey on the Surface. And so the blood-stained wolf-doctor made his way to the Holy City. Spoiler: Recent RP Summaries Same practice as I do for my other characters - a rotating log of the last month's roleplays for my reference and others. Obviously, this is for OOC purposes 11/25/20 - Met Lorelei and a few other packmates and allies at the castle for some combat training. They travelled together to another realm called the Arras, where Lorelei explained that death wasn’t permanent there and they would be resurrected after twenty minutes if they died. This was important because she and a Maraya named Nerissa would be fighting them to the death and that their goal was to defeat them and keep their team-mates alive. Conor joined with Apollo and Hal, the three creating a chain using Bonding Link to transfer any harm done to Apollo to Conor and any done to Conor to Hal. Now immune to harm, Conor stalked around to try to flank Lore and Nerissa by coming at them from the opposite side of the other attacking team, pulling Lore away so she could no longer protect Nerissa. This was only partially successful, however, as Lorelei soon used her Dawnwolf abilities to comet-strike him. Nothing happened to him, but Hal was injured, so he kept fighting, trying to keep an eye on his comrade in case he needed medical attention. The fight continued, but try as they might, the group couldn’t seem to do any real damage to the Alpha or Maraya. After an attack on Nerissa, she cast a water spell around Conor’s head, scalding and drowning the severely-injured Hal. Conor called to him to break the link, since he had taken less damage, and Hal obliged, causing Conor to experience the burning and drowning. Conor continued to fight, holding his breath as best he could, but couldn’t force Nerissa to break the spell. Furthermore, Apollo was also in the fight, fighting against Lore and trying to defend Hal, so Conor was taking his hits as well. As his strength faltered, Conor managed one final strike against Nerissa, but ultimately succumbed to the drowning. His body exploded into flowers and dissipated, allowing him to respawn back at the tower after the fight. Coming to, he found himself gasping for air and still shaking from adrenaline, but delighted with the rush of the fight. When the group gathered back at the tower waiting for Lore to respawn, Nerissa trapped her inside with a warding spell and threatened to leave her inside, much to the amusement of the gathered pack. She ultimately agreed to let her out in exchange for an unnamed favor, which she reluctantly agreed to, and Nerissa let her out before the rest of the pack skadeeted away from their formerly-trapped Alpha. 11/24/20 - Met Aesling, Amir, and Tristan and Leah Kade for an afternoon of making gingerbread houses. He attempted to recreate the pub from his hometown, but with little success. They spoke briefly about their homelands before ultimately giving up on the building and ended up eating the gingerbread instead. Later that day, he would drop by the Nook after spotting Aya inside. He chatted to her for a moment and ordered a drink before making conversation with the other people there, including a woman named Selkie. 11/17/20 - Joined Lorelei and a huge gathering of fighters at the castle to prepare for a raid against the Kaahl Sarnai after the Night of Twin Fires and the kidnapping of one of their werebeasts. However, the Crookback Pack had also captured one of the Kaahl’s people, a Kathar named Sadeldrus, and so somebody had to stay behind to watch them. Since Conor was the newest and most inexperienced of the group, he volunteered for that duty and spent the evening guarding. Although not on friendly terms, he and Sadeldrus managed decent enough conversation to pass the time, and when the pack returned successfully, Conor made sure to let them know that he had been quiet and little trouble, and so encouraged them to let him so without hurting him. 11/3/20 - Attended the first meeting of the Moonlight Society, a social gathering for abberants, where he met Mama Yahdga, Anathema, Aesling, Oloron, Abigail, Amir, and Xaella. They went around introducing themselves and snacking on goodies that Aesling brought, then made plans for their next meeting, agreeing to a snow day in a week’s time. Conor especially liked Mama Yahdga and her familiar Yak, and was curious about Aesling, recognising the name.
