To the collective public, and the Chancellor of the Empire,

I find it frankly shameful that I have to write this letter but bound by my duty I find that I must. The re-establishment of the Helerian Guard by my colleague, Guy Delmotte, was met with an absolute and total attack by the Chancellor unjustly and unrighteous. The Chancellor thinks it fit to slam down upon any movement which is against her will, and by slam down, I only mean the slamming of the seal in which the letter was sent. I write this letter to the collective public and to the Chancellor to defend the rights of an Order which has existed and shall exist long after we all perish.

The Helerian Guard is a centuries old institution established to protect members of the Clergy and is an integral part of the Holy Armies of the Church. A Helerian Guard, usually a Lancyon Graduate, is assigned to guard a reverend in oath and bond, and dutifully for life. The humility and great nature of the Reverends often puts them in harms way, and I have often witnessed that first hand. I cannot count on my hand the countless times the poor High Reverend Manfried II was attacked by wild beasts, orcs or even worse mages. This is what the enemies of darkness do, they target the light.

The Helerian Guard is not an institution to serve at the beck and heed of this secular Chancellor and serves at the church's wishes with it's own separate rights and dignities. This was well noted as I was allowed to carry around a halberd when I was guarding the Supreme Reverend Aethelric, may Spirit keep him righteous. The Helerian Guard exists as an extension of the Church's hand on this city and remains ever so. I question the Chancellor in this bold move, to want to actively take away the means to protect our most Holiest, yet allow red-horned demons to wander about our streets and serve in our forces. I question the Chancellor in threatening an Order which exists to keep our Faith safe and secured instead of extending a warm hand. I question our Chancellor in this reckless and stupid move for little to no gain but bragging rights and a fancy worded letter.

I shall finally end with a word from our creeds for you all to mull on. The Great Way compels us all to do good, and let good be done. What is more righteous and pure than humbly guarding the very men who keep our poor fed, our faithful sated and our nobility justified in creating our Great Paradise.

Carry all, the sword, the rake, the prayer beads, the hammer and sickle and tool, carry all for the virtue of work, the hardship of prayer and the love for your fellow Unionist. Carry all in your days and your lives, so that when the measure comes of the scales of judgement that you shall be on the weightier end of your crimes against Unionism. - The Mass of Passage, Emperor-Saint Theomar the First.

As we all march along the Great Way,
Vulmar Augustin Eryck Faulkner,
Imperial Duelist of the Empire,

Past Helerian Guard to the Supreme Reverend Howlester,
Past Grand Archduke of the Hinterlands, Duke of Etternach and Lyon's Fold,
Past Protector of Pentange and Erbtaubleierwald, Lord of all Brissiaud,
Consul of the Regalian Empire in glorium,
Marshal of the West in glorium,

"Aethelric?"

The Lord Commander had to ponder at his desk in Greygate, glancing over to Ania who had been picking her teeth with a sharpened splint of wood. "Your son would have made an decent call-out if he could have remembered the name of the Supreme Reverend he protected"

The Howlester then guffawed, planting the paper aside, pouring the two another drink. "Besides, what was it High Reverend Manfried tried to slap my arse about three weeks ago? Interpreting the creeds without being a Reverend? I do hope the Good High Reverend doesn't pick favorites when it comes to enforcing such an ecclesiastical standpoint".

"We'll be finding out soon enough," Ania said, toothpick scraping between her teeth, and voice idle. She sniffed in a breath and ushered the glass to her lips. "Until we do, let's keep savoring some of these."

Leironse paused for a moment, glancing over the notice as he shuffled through his papers, pushing it to the side briefly before leaning back in his chair, glancing out the window. "Well at least it seems like some of these Ailor have a fanaticism for their own religion more than simply believing in it per circumstances sake...A pity their memory does not hold up to such. No matter." The Altalar gave a slight shrug, pressing his quill against his lips for a moment before continuing to write.

It is funny that a letter of fancy words dares compare to my state-ordained processions which are completely in line with the system of the Government and it's expectations from the denizens and organizational collectives that utilize it. Normally I do not pay to petty squabble, but since I am being called out here, I will make the time to shoot down each of your arguments one by one.

To claim that I have attacked the Helerian Guard is to completely misinterpret the situation in order to paint me as a tyrant, a desire grown out of your ridiculous envy upon seeing me of all people sit the chair you've no doubt lusted for. I have merely acted upon my authority as Chancellor to ensure legal fairness on grounds of misuse. I have never once demanded the removal or destruction of the Helerian Guard, only the rescission of Mercenary Rights from their organizational statute which they ultimately do not require as Helerians are 1. not mercenaries and therefore do not require the rights to act as mercenaries, 2. already have the ability to utilize house guard rights which grants them all the necessary permissions they need to ensure the defense of clergymen without risk. The Helerian Guard as an organization was never threatened, never forced to shut down, never cancelled from their activities, and with the reverence of Ser Guy Delmotte and his provided word that the Helerian's rights to mercenarial rights has been rescinded, the Helerian Guard is more than free to operate.

To claim that I have taken away any rights or powers from the Church is a baseless and quite frankly hilarious argument with no credible proof or evidence to back it. I have not once created any formulations or passed any laws that interfered or persecuted or otherwise offended the rights and permissions of the clergymen. Therefore I beg the question as to where you have gotten this utterly ridiculous idea that the Chancellery of the Empire is a supporter of the anti-Church movement. I have not once stepped one heel into the matters of the Regalian Synod, nor have I ever presented myself as a roadblock against the Secretary of Faith in his religious endeavors, which proves your words to be not only illegitimate, but frankly even bullshit in it's sincerest core.

To claim that I sympathize with the Manathar, who you refer to as 'red horned demons', is equally as baseless as claiming that I am an attacker of the Church when the word 'Church' was never once involved in any of my proclamations. By doing this, you equally refer to Lord Commander William Howlester, High Reverend Manfried II, and Secretary of Faith Jared Kade as demon sympathizers. It was foremost the Lord Commander himself, blessed his name be, that authorized the legal permissions offered to Manathar in service to State. It was the collective agreement of His High Holiness Manfried II and Secretary Jared Kade that the Manathar Rite was made a legal and worshipable religion recognized by the Synod (until its recent removal no doubt ordained by one angry du Pont whose first name I no longer recall).

I do not sympathize in any way with the Manathar. You may falsely perceive that I "glorify their existence", but what they are in all essentiality is state slaves forced to labor who are otherwise treated as nobodies. But I see their benefit to the State more than I see yours: the Manathar have functioned as guards of the Government and excelled in their duties, discounting the few troublemakers who were duly and brutally dealt with by my husbands own hand. They've served in war against the Kathar menace and fought valiantly in the battlefield. I ask which of you and the shills at your becking call has taken these steps to show reverence to the Government and the State. This fanciful propagandist letter guised as a call-to-public surely answers the question. I fondly remember the crimes Vulmar himself has committed against the City of Regalia by creating and puppeteering an illegal militia claiming to be a mercenary organization but, in factuality, abusing their Violet-granted rights to attack innocents in the City and drive political ambitions with the desire to seek his long-foregone relevance, as evident from all the 'past' titles he has stacked under his nameless signature.

All of a sudden, he designs himself a paragonal justice warrior, but I do not eat it. You are free to judge me and criticize my job as Chancellor, but at least do so with credible evidence to support your statements. Write with a sound and agreeable mind, not with your spiteful emotions that lead you to nonsensical conclusions far from reality. Perhaps then I'll respect and value your opinion, for what it's worth.

The Revered Mother of course did not comment on political matters and did not have a guard as a member of the clergy.

Louis Delmotte looked to his cousin, Guy Delmotte, with a very bemused expression.

"It's quite simple. Politics and the synod should not be tethered with. If she wanted to be so diligent to remove the Helerian from mercenary rights and instate that she was helping, so be it. But she wasn't, so may the Spirit recognize her doings," muttered a specific Reverend as he exited the cathedral with the papers in hand.

"Thanks Rodrigo." says a nameless du Pont.
