I believe there are a few problems with MassiveCraft, more on a community based level.

I feel like there are issues in regards to how people treat each other. I have experienced this myself. A while back, I was banned because there was biased information about me. It's easy to create a perception or image of someone online.

I just feel like the community as a whole doesn't feel the same as it used to.

Don't get me wrong, it's great, but it says something when I enter a full server, say "hello" and no one responds.

I would like this to be a positive thread that can discuss this topic of community and culture on the server. I understand my post here may come across as vague but I'd like people to be able to discuss this and maybe bring up ideas to bring all aspects of the server together more.

I understand what you're saying, I've experienced this myself the last time I frequented MassiveCraft. That being said, I think you need to look at things from a different perspective.

Sure, It's not nice when somebody bashes on you for your lack of knowledge (be it lore, literary skills, general role play etiquette) but at the end of the day there's not really much that can be done. If you flag a staff member because somebody is being mean to you, they'll just tell you to brush it off. This is a server and forum meant for adults, so they expect you to have enough life experience to be able to just take peoples toxicity with a pinch of salt.

It's a big community, there are always going to be that toxic bunch - some of them probably have influence - but at the end of the day, being upset about it isn't going to get you anywhere. I understand how you may feel, and I certainly don't want to upset you or make you feel like I'm against you. At heart, even the people who you feel may be trying to undermine you probably don't realise that it bothers you as much as it may. They're not bad people for the most part, or at least that's what I perceived the last time I was knocking around. Very few are 'out to get you' so to speak.

Is the community harsh? - No.
Is the community toxic? - Maybe slightly, but that's everywhere. Don't let a few bad apples spoil the orchard.

Is the community strict? - Yes. Of all the role play communities I've seen, MassiveCraft seems to be the most.. In depth? High class?
Either way, MassiveCraft is a role play experience like no other. It's so elaborate and well crafted that of course people are going to be passionate and strict with the rules, even if they push that on to other people sometimes without realising they might be spoiling the mood.

    I'm not going to tell you what to do, since It's not really my place. I am also bad in these kinds of situations, so I developed a method of fixing things. On the off chance that it helps, I'll share it with you ;) - here's what I usually do in these kinds of situations;

    1) Politely ask where I made the mistake.
    2) Politely apologise for my lack of knowledge.
    3) Make sure it doesn't happen again.

It takes a lot of trial and error, but eventually you'll learn everything you need to know - and you don't have to make any unnecessary enemies. If they try escalate things, just leave. It's the best course of action, snapping back will just make things worse for everyone.

    Thank you for reading :)

Sounds like a good thing for you to try would be mingling about with some people, either if you're a roleplayer, there's a bunch of hotspots to meet people in character and more often than not begin to make friends OOCly too!
if roleplay isn't your thing, there are always factions recruiting new players, so you could give that a shot too!

Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is saying Hi is one thing but if you're doing it somewhere like general chat, but people are more often than not going to ignore simple gestures like that; This isn't because there aren't friendly people on Massive and such, its just not really how its used all too much. I promise you though, if you do a bit of searching, there are some great people to chat to on here. :)

My discord is ZiggyStarDusted#9372, or I'm always in-game too, if you're still feeling down about people not responding and such and want a lil more help!

Once again, there is more to factions than just “recruiting” factions also has a “community” pretty like rp does, factions also has “friend circles” pretty like rp does, there is more to factions than just Asteria

Doesn't mean you can't find someone willing to recruit you

Look, to enjoy factions and meet people, you have to first be apart of one, naturally- Nothing wrong with being recruited/recruiting people. I'm aware factions has a full community surrounding it too, bud; course it does.

These comments actually highlight the interactions of community on MassiveCraft. So I guess they are on topic in a way...
