There are numerous combat schools and knightly organisations that exist as canon in the Massivecraft lore, ranging from the honorable Viridian Knights to the fearsome northern Skaggers, and membership of these organisations has always captured interest of the combat and brotherhood inclined roleplayer due to each groups unique style, world outlook and creed. However, in the past few years it seems that membership of these organisations has boiled down to proficiency gain and backstory without much in the way of connecting with others of the Order or propagating the rivalries that exist between one or two Orders i.e Viridian and Bloodcast, which has essentially given these groups practically nothing to actually do. Jonificus and I have decided to introduce a comprehensive system to reform how exactly official Combat Schools ought to operate in the City and to allow for each Order to compete for dominance within the Regalian Capital which brings with it reward, heraldry, City Guard leniency, sonnets, progression posts, mini missions in the Archipelago, benefits from the Imperial Court and for the most celebrated orders, even the ability to quasi enforce Regalian Law with the Violet Order.

Combat Schools are expected to try and one up one another to be the top and most respected Order in the Empire. As outlined however, this is difficult when there isn't much available for these combat schools to actively engage in. We believe that the best way to reward competition is with bonuses rather than penalize those that do not participate, thus, we will be incorporating a system similar to the noble system but with a more streamlined approach making it easier to know what gains acclaim and what loses acclaim. Acclaim will be rated for the weekly activity every Sunday and a report indicating what may be the reasoning for any gains or losses will follow the following Monday for each Order.

Below you will find a list of activities that can boost a combat school's notoriety and acclaim:

    • Strong Street Presence and Citizen acclaim (Representation at State Functions, seen in uniform which does not need to be armor in public, positive publicity, positive word from the commoners)
    • Successful Missions in official Regalian Wars. (Mini Missions relating to the Kathar war)
    • Successful Missions quelling turmoil in the Empire. (Like the above but instances in the Archipelago)
    • Victories in Tournaments.
    • Code Adherence.
    • Events that provide for others in keeping with the Order’s Code.
Below you will find a list of activities that can lower a combat school's notoriety and acclaim:
    • Being caught breaking Regalian Law.
    • Non-adherence to the Order’s Code.
    • Lack of public presence.
    • Momentous losses in Tournaments.
    • Momentous losses in an official Regalian War.
    • Momentous losses while quelling turmoil in the Empire.

Mercenary Companies may now also compete with the Knight schools over their missions for Regal bounties and loot that can be used in game and exchanged for rewards. However, the Knights being Knights may not accept regals for their missions to account for balancing. Honor and all that.

More groups may be added by contacting @BillyTheScroofy in PM and requesting to be added. Each group must have a banner to be placed at /tp KnightHQ as well as at least 3 members. Submit your banners into the hopper there to be added to the board.

    The Viridian Order
    The Bloodcast Order
    The Pavisa Order
    The Skagger Order
    The Order of Rangers
    The School of Esa-Ajo

    Competing Mercenary Companies

The current acclaim of all Combat Schools is recorded at /tp KnightHQ on a noticeboard. It is important that if a knightly school is being represented in the City, that they ensure a banner that symbolizes that school is submitted into the hopper in front of the acclaim board at the TP. For an Order to be recognized, you must contact myself over the forums with the Order name (It must be a branch of a pre-existing combat school), a member's list and confirmation that the banner has been created. Any questions relating to the system can be posed to myself in forum PM.

These Missions may only be taken by registered Combat Schools. It is recommended that any group wishing to take on these missions have between 2 - 10 members. Missions may be applied for by sending @BillyTheScroofy a forum PM with a detailed member list with character applications, and a roughly 3 paragraph 'plan' or 'approach' to the task. Its first come first serve and if one group fails, another may snatch the victory.

Crisis in quick succession - High Difficulty

Within the heartlands of Brixoid lay, the barony, who’s custodian lord, the baron of Brieyarde has died without leaving a clear succession. One of his nephews has claimed to be the legitimate successor to the barony. This has been contested by a young man claiming to be the son of the late Baron which has threatened the calm and stability of the region as both sides have been taking up arms to stake their claims. Local clergy and nobles have made pleas for a third party to resolve the matter.

Mystic in the Veer - Medium Difficulty

In the remote village of Warmerhoorn a mystic who claims to be an envoy of the Spirit has supposedly been working miracles to help the local villagers. When the local clergy sent men to arrest the man for apostasy and acts of black magic, the local townsfolk fiercely resisted and rebuked the effort. Unwilling to risk the prosperity of Warmerhoorn, local authorities are looking for a solution to pacify the upstart mystic in a way that does not threaten the peace.

Title - The Beast of Mittelwald - High Difficulty

A hunting party in Calemberg has gone missing, the hunters in question have been found dead deep within the Mittelwald, their bodies mangled and disfigured. Dark rumour has taken hold of the local region and increasingly little hunters or otherwise have dared to enter the forest. A local Reverend has placed a call for aid, insisting that there are powers at the foot that can not stand the light of day.

The Runaway Maiden - High Difficulty

The daughter of a Gallovian count, unwilling to accept her fate of being married to a widowed baron has gone on the run. Rumour has it that she has eloped with a lowborn Bloodcast knight. This bold act has not gone without consequences, and the aggrieved parties have set a bounty for the knight, either dead or alive. Bounty hunters that have tried to claim his head have either turned up dead or severely wounded. With this great embarrassment, the count has instead asked for a group that can ‘rescue’ the eloping maiden and have her return to her father.

Dragenthal Mayor Investigation - High Difficulty

The Mayor Von Redwood of Dragenthal, leading the town of Schönvor just west of the Schön river, there has been rampant bandit attacks since the death of Antonio the Strong, defeated by the Bloodcast Knights. Rumors persist of corruption within the town, frequent attacks by the remnants of the Duskborn Gang, and most troubling of all. Kidnappings of upwards of 10 townspeople in the span of a week.
