Character Wips.

Hey, as you may know, I am an RPer and enjoy partaking in the plethora of RP factors on the forums and in the server. One of these RP related factors is character creation, while I tend to not have the focus to push out the characters I want. (I plan to through) I do enjoy reviewing Peer Review characters; this of course is a process of mixed emotions. I can get supported by the character maker, or hated on because they are annoyed that their character had so many flaws. But I can handle this, I sometimes enjoy the lore based arguments that can come up and what not. But there is something that is coming more common and it is starting to become a problem; work in progress or WIP characters.

While I understand some people don't have Word like me, or don't use Google Docs like others. But that isn't really an excuse when you post a character app that only has two sections complete. An app with only two sections or bits of each section is barely worth posting, because the main reason you post it is to be reviewed, but when it is barely started people can't review it because they don't have enough to review. While I know it shouldn't affect me that much, I know I could just not review the WIP characters, but in the peer review section they are the majority of character that I can review.

So there is my quasi-rant, I just wanted to let people know what I think.

Agreed. I think people misuse the WIP term a lot. It should just mean that it has much room for improvement and that it isn't perfect, not a literally unfinished application. In the peer reviews when I see this, I always tell the applicant to finish the Character before they submit it. I think applications with less than half completed should be locked or removed.

Whenever I use W.I.P I use it as in, I need to work on it
I do not publish it untill (almost) all sections are done

When ever I post a WIP I usually have most of it done, and just some sections not done. Usually being Strengths, Weaknesses, Personality Traits, and Life Story.
And the next day I usually try to add more.

I put up my characters when they are unfinished because I will forget like 9/10 times to keep updating them using other things.
Just look at my google docs.
It's a hive of unfinished projects.

Liber office
Open office
IBM lotus symphony
Google docs (only in browser no need to download anything or waste precious megabytes on documents)
iWork (free for newer iOS devices)
