Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?

Johnathan Birkwood, this character was created a few months ago, towards the end of Freya Lo's reign. An older character, who I got bored with, is Maximus Birkwood, I killed him off and moved on to John, I cant see myself shelving, or killing of John.

Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?

Yes, sometimes I base parts of my character off of myself when I run out of trait ideas. I have learned about some of my own weaknesses in the process.

Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?

Human characters. For me, the most fun aspect of regalian roleplay, is the noble roleplay, I find the politics, and drama to be very fun, meaning I have to play human characters. I also feel that I am able to roleplay human characters better, because I can relate to them, and "bond" with them better, because I am human.

When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?

Yes.

Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?

No.

Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?

Not really, of I use some of my real life traits in my character, I make a few up also.

Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?

My character, Johnathan Birkwood has quite a few of my bad traits, one of them is rashness.

If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?

Yes, writing both of my characters has given me a new outlook on some of my traits.

Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!

Not really, but I do listen to Game of Thrones soundtracks while roleplaying, my favorite ones being:

The rains of Castamere, Winterfell, the Kingsroad, and The North Remembers.

When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?

Not that I can think of...

Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?

I actually don't have characters like that, but if I was not as attached to Johnathan Birkwood, and made more characters, I might.

Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?

I actually don't have characters like that, but if I was not as attached to Johnathan Birkwood, and made more characters, I might.

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

After 10 minutes of brainstorming, I truthfully can not think of any...

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

I think the character Clarence Birkwood, written and played by @Blackfish__ was unique, Blackfish played him very well.

Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?

No, I don't have a character like that.

Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?

No, but I might if I wrote more characters.

  1. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
I fell they are all of equal importance. I usually figure out the way they look first though.
  1. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
I love doing character art, and hope to get better at it someday.

Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
Oldest current character I use right now is Joppa Engeram the Ailor undead. Only a couple of months old, not very old at all. My oldest (More than three years back) was Kazaak the Vespid pirate.
Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
More than once I've realized major flaws and some good things about my own character through my characters.
Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
More recently, Humans. I make a strong focus on Human unity rather than, "Oh, I'm x-people group," or, "Oh, I'm y-people group," etc etc. It's been brought on by my urge to just exist and be a human. I think that's what everyone should focus on. Existing as people together.
When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
Visual, then personality. I prefer to draw and make art of characters to understand their physicality, because that affects your personality deeply because of how physical a species we tend to be. The connection of body to mind is a strong one.
Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Nopers.
Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
Not really. I try my best to disconnect from my characters, though of course I don't. I mostly only learn from characters that aren't like myself. Helps me empathize.
Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
Yeah. Joppa can't back down and doesn't know when he's wrong. I have the same issue.
If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
It lets me be aware. Everyone operates in modes, and my mode just happens to involve thinking I'm always right. By understanding it through Joppa, I'm aware of it and allow myself to make it less of a negative trait. I've learned to pick my battles better because of him, and it helps me be right more often, which is good for my state of being.
Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
Used to create playlists, haven't in years.
When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
Draw. I have to draw before I write otherwise I'm distracted. I also have to brainstorm for hours in advance. Develop hype for myself so that when I get to the keyboard, I have more ideas than I need.
Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
None, really. I tend to not put too much focus on other people's characters.
Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
See above.
If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
I like @Vegemiite's purple-whatever-Elf with dyed black hair. Her physical design shows strength through an edginess that isn't distasteful.
If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
@Streako's Cecil. RIP.
Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
Joppa, to play, because he's undead and he can't interact with the surface and I've grown to realize how distasteful sewer RP is. Arrdrreth Wyssarro because he's a Tigran and I struggle to draw anthros. I've tried to capitalize on the Elf-Tigran anatomy similarities, but it's difficult to take the cat out of a Tigran.
Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
None that I can think of. I only avoid stuff because of effort or because the character would be part of a certain community that I dislike.
What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
First thing I do is visual design. Clothes/hair/body build. Stuff like that. Then I do mix it into the right A E S T H E T I C, and then I get the personality down.
Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
I mostly just draw my characters outside of RP.

  1. Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?: Elwarin Iaurchanar (Age: 49 Race: Avanthar)
  2. Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?: I sometimes write personalities for a character and write what it is, and funnily enough the result of the trait usually resembles something of my trait if it is the same thing.
  3. Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?: I enjoy making Ailor characters, because they are the easiest to do things with in regalia, but I also prefer nelfin races, I have grown up reading fantasy books so they just fascinate me.
  4. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?: Not often, but it is a possibility.
  5. Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?: Yas I do.
  6. Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?: Elwarin Iaurchanar (Humorous, Kind, Religious)
  7. Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits? Skald Valdemar though greedy not as much. (Greedy, Blunt, Unorganized)

Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?: I don't know why, but the Coen family, and the Kade family are just really cool, I have read the pages a few times mainly because it just is something that I think is pretty nifty.
  12. Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?: Klein, I OOC love them but my characters are like, they hate them. Recently I put a Klein on top of a bookshelf and pretty much walked off, I feel so bad OOC but IC it is what they would do.
  13. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!:
    vigilant-shield-armor-ref-png.111469
  14. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!: I have no idea personally, I think many personalities are great, and I couldn't be asked to pick a specific character's personality as "the best" or most unique.
  15. Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?: I don't know.
  16. Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?: I will edit when I figure out :/
  17. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?: I usually do physical appearance, because it is easier to do in my opinion.
  18. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?: I wish to learn to better myself in art and draw them.

  1. Out of all the ones that I have, oldest (partially) active would be Marianne, but oldest would be Phon
  2. I cannot split my attention between multiple characters and end up using only one for a time
  3. Ailor, just because they can be radically different from each others and still be the same race
  4. Usually visual concept
  5. Yes I have
  6. Yep
  7. Probably almost every single one, having my bad side sprinkled here and there
  8. Somewhat, I've come to see that I'm less able to act out my bad traits as I thought.
  9. I'm a peasant and I don't have any
  10. Listening to certain songs helps me get an image, and playing them prior to making the sheet helps me decide what to put down
  11. I don't really have any.
  12. Probably the Usque Galenas and sewer characters in general because my character likes to prod at their ganking tendency and the fact they fight a lot. They probably either not care about me or think I'm an asshole, who knows.
  13. Hard to choose, but I'd take Alexander Kade. I like how he changed from a rather cocky young man look into George Clooney.
  14. Again, hard to choose as no one really sticks out that much to me. But I'd take Vane Thran'dir
  15. Probably Tessa, since her personality set is in a stark contrast to what I usually play.
  16. A noble or a knight would be it. Since I'm never good at nobility RP and strict stuff doesn't suit me that well.
  17. Personality would be it for me, it can entirely shape how people look at you both IC and OOC.
  18. Thousand ideas, zero capability

  1. Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
Finwe is 160 years old, but hasn't been played since just after i started. Altior is my first character and he's still occasionally used.
  1. Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
I've realized all my characters contain a little bit of me.
  1. Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
I mainly play Ailor, due to the simple fact of racism.
  1. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
I very rarely create a character to go with an appearance, though that is what I did with my clown.
  1. Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Oh yes. I don't use most of my characters, I have about fourteen and I play three/sometimes four.
  1. Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
All of my characters have at least some desirable traits.
  1. Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
Yes, my character Daniel has my (past) struggle with depression/suicide, and my Yanar character Lloa has my anxiety and trouble focusing. My Shendar Katar has my protective nature when other people mess with his girl, though it's greatly exaggerated when Katar does it. That's all I can think of at the moment.
  1. If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
Writing a character with similar traits to myself doesn't really affect how I see those traits, though occasionally I can discover a new trait I'd never seem.
  1. Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
I did make a group of songs that went with moments in Phillip's life, but I ended up deleting it. I also tend to find songs that fit my character's relationship with their partner.
  1. When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
I have to have nothing distracting me but that's about it.
  1. Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
I'd really like to RP with the retired Emperor, but don't because I don't know if he still exists as a character or if the player would even RP them.
  1. Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
Warren or William Coen, definitely. I'm not really sure what that tells me about myself OOC but IC, can't stand either of them. Or a lot of Northerners.
  1. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be?
Conf's purple jacket outfit has always been pretty hot ;3 @conflicttFTW
  1. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be?
Hm, for that I'd have to say Gideon Laine @UrnackOfIrtath
  1. Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
Yes, my character Phillip can be really hard to play because he's always been a bit "all over the place"
  1. Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
I would really love to eventually play a right-wing Jingoistic character from a High Noble Family, because all of my characters have been so far from that, but I don't think that's the best RP for me to do right now.
  1. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
I would say an interesting character that gets attention is the most important, which is why I try to give all my characters little "bits" that will make people think 'I wonder what that's all about?'
  1. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
The latter, I can't do any of that for the life of me.

1. Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?

Lmao all my old characters are either completely shelved or dead. My oldest one was an edgy vampire called Dalia Wolkhelm. Not going back to those years, ever. That was like, over 3.5 years ago I think? The character I played most actively has to be Earaine Deceres, though. She died around half a year ago.

2. Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?

I'm one of the rare people who don't use roleplay for escapism. I do it to try out things I know I could never do in real life. I guess roleplay is my form of being extroverted even though I'm majorly an introvert in real life. It's fun and I get myself out there.

3. Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?

I'm a sucker for Nelfin or Human characters. I think I've never really tried anything outside of that spectrum, to think of it - Qadir and Avanthar are my aesthetic, so I don't really stray from it. I've never even considered making a character with a race out of the norm, nor do I doubt I will. But we will see what the future brings. Why? Simply because I'm an avid artist and enjoy being able to comfortably draw my characters and have other artists draw my characters. While I enjoy occasional challenge, I also like to sit down and relax and draw.

4. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?

It's a mixture. But it's usually the visual concept that comes into my head first, and then while designing their character aesthetic and drawing the character out and getting in place general background ideas for them that could be cool, their personality gradually develops in my head and then by the time I'm done drawing, I more or less know a lot about how the character is.

5. Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?

I don't think so. I have a few that are shelved who I'd never dream of getting rid of, but I still love their concept and could probably go back to playing them if the situation called for it. There are some really old character concepts I played maybe 3 times in their initial phase before deciding they were boring and discarding them, though. I might auction some old art if the time calls for it.

6. Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had? Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?

For any of you that remember Rai, Rai embodied a lot of my good and bad traits, just exaggerated. She kind of portrayed my inner demons, and I absolutely loved playing it out. (As you can guess, I'm edgy on the inside.) My characters are usually exaggerations of certain characteristics of myself. For example, Rai portrayed my greed, hate and anger - emotions I rarely if ever show in real life, and that I keep hidden and don't express. Sanci (which not many know) portrayed my playfulness and lack of motivation and laziness. Asha Nazari exaggerated my charisma and suggestive jokes. I love each of them dearly, and it just goes to show the characters I most actively and best play are the ones that I can relate to on a surface-level.

7. If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?

I wouldn't necessarily changed how it's viewed the traits. I guess some of the bad traits, I can see how detrimental they'd be in certain situations if I decided to show them and express them, which helps me keep them at bay. The good traits are just an enjoyment to play out.

8. Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!

While I don't create playlists for my characters, I do occasionally make up little themes for some of them. Haven't done that in ages though, and sure as heck ain't sharin'!

9. When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?

Not really. I just have to be really immersed in them, usually by just having drawn them or having had a super good roleplay with them, or listening to a song that puts me in the mood to write.

10. Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?

I love a lot of @Plecy 's characters, and especially miss my darling Salvatore Valenti (Lehruhn/Pleasure). It was so fun for me in the Silveirall/Attribate phase of roleplay roughly a year ago, and I miss those days dearly. I love basically all the vices and virtues, but can't interact with them anymore for obvious reasons. I've also secretly got a desire to roleplay with @MonMarty but I'm scared of judgment so I don't. lol oops

11. Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?

I loved the hate between Rai and Karim of Caliphene, @TheBioverse . I also absolutely loved the love/hate relationship between Rai and Irfan Vanelon (Ugaruhn/Dread). It brought me life to see the internal rivalries there was between my characters and their destiny, and how Bio's character literally portrayed what Rai would become if she couldn't keep control of herself. She loved him as her father but hated his guts and him as a person, so it was just so interesting to portray pure, unbridled hate.

12. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

Visual appearance? This is such a toughie. I'm a sucker for detailed character concepts with an alternative twist. All my characters are super detailed with tattoos, specific piercings, elaborate outfits and so on because I'm an artist - I'm seriously struggling to name a character with as much detail as I usually put into mine. Not because they don't exist, but because I maybe don't know as much about the characters as I should. I love Ardige Viduggla's beard in his recent art though, @The_Shadow_King3 . Also, I'm dabbling to try out drawing Cedric Kade soon as well, and I love his design. Which is typical Marty. Kudos!

13. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

Okay, I know I have to widen it to more than just friends, but I love @Plecy 's execution of Joseph Mercer, the legend himself. I also adore @Finn_Ish 's Yvonne Lefevre. One of the personalities that stick to me most even after a few years however has to be @TheBioverse 's Yen Wyman. I loved roleplaying with him and his mental complexities.

14. Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?

For some reason I'm currently struggling a bit with Asha Nazari. I love her and have beautiful art of her (Gabriel, Patsie and Runshin, to mention a few brilliant artists) but hit a brick wall in roleplaying her a few weeks back. I got into a situation where I genuinely had no idea how she would react, so I went back to thinking it over in my mind - and am a little stuck, frankly. So I'm trying to create a fun light-hearted character on the side to get me back into the roleplay scene again and hopefully rekindle my lost superpowers.

15. Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?

A megalomaniacal noble. While I know this is played out quite a bit, I want to do it to an almost morbid extent - lack of loyalty and such. I wouldn't want to delve too far into court drama, but instead try overtake or rule behind the back of the patriarch of the House. If I'm going to start trying to be nobility however, I might not start out quite so big. I want to get into the Nobility RP scene, but it's just so difficult to become oriented in what's happening.

16. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?

Visual design and aesthetics may not be the most important to me, but it's what I nail down first. It's pretty important though. Sometimes the appearance of a character alone is enough to let me know how I would play them out realistically, and that's often a good sign.

17. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?

I tried in the past, but I'm not sure how well it went. I love my characters and tried pixel sprites once, and I might try that again when I get better at it.

  1. Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?

Rryssae Baro's probably the oldest one that I still use, though I'm reincarnating an old favourite - Grégoire - into my most recent character.

I've a few of my first characters - like Venditori (cringe) and Amelia (cringe) who I don't use anymore, and a Slizzar I had a lot of fun player, but no motivation to continue as.

  2. Has creating a character ever made you realise something about yourself?

Oddly, yes. I made a few characters with a theme of being what one might call an "asshole", but as I play more and more jolly / fun / playful / friendly characters, I've realised I much prefer being nice to people than being a dick, which is one of the main reasons a character I put a lot of effort into - Ssethion - isn't being played a lot right now.

  3. Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?

I prefer to make use of non-human races, as I find them far more interesting. Slizzar, for one, I really enjoyed playing: having a single snake-tail instead of legs really changes a lot of interactions in roleplay, beyond replacing "walks" with "slithers".

Shendar are also fun because they're essentially just a little vessel for letting out your inner edgelord, and the Shendar players tend to form Shendar communities due to how the race works. Fun stuff.

My newest character is an Orc because I'd never really tried out a "big and strong" character archetype outside of the old Dra'lonais Bloodline before, so I thought it'd be a nice change since I usually focus on magic.

  4. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?

It varies from character to character. Rryssae, for example, I got her persona before even deciding she'd be a Tigran, whereas Grégoire was immediately designed - as a Dra'lonais - with Hafþór in mind. (Grégoire's name is a blatant reference to the wonderful role Hafþór played in Game of Thrones: "Gregor Clegane").

  5. Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?

I'll likely never properly 'reincarnate' Harald K. Fuchs, though I keep his app around both for "just in case" reasons, as well as the fact that it reminds me of an old friend.

  6. Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?

I suppose I try to make my characters likeable, as I feel like I'm pretty poor at being likeable OOC. Most of my characters tend to share my cynical sense of humour, though some might not count that a good trait.

  7. Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?

I'm not entirely sure, I often separate my own traits from those of my character outside of humour since I love being able to react genuinely to stuff I find funny IC. I'd have to go read through my characters, check their traits, and see which ones correlated with my own bad traits, which wouldn't have been done so much on purpose as accidental.

  8. If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?

I think it's made me want to make an effort to act like a slightly nicer person, even if I do still retain my potentially obnoxious and offensive humour.

  9. Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!

I've not, but the idea of doing so sounds wonderful! I might try that out, thanks.

  10. When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?

This kind of ties in with the last question as - while I don't have full playlists for characters - I actually do listen to music which I feel embodies the idea of the character. Sometimes when I'm writing concepts I use joke songs as the characters "theme song" (a little bit of cringe I put at the top of most of my apps for a laugh now), but eventually swap out for something more fitting, such as the amazing theme of "Papers Please" sitting at the top of my newest character's app. Really gets me in the mood of the character.

  11. Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?

Honestly, it'd probably be @Muffins_ character "Percival". I mean, have you seen that app? He already knows I think that application is practically 10/10 quality; it's one of my favourites all round. Though I'm pretty sure I've never actually interacted with him IC at all, and that might be to do with the fact that I never leave the damned sewers.

  12. Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?

Practically ever single Lampar I see. They act obnoxious, idiotic, "cutesy", it's not even entertaining cringe; and the worst part is how many other players seem to think they're adorable. I feel like the "Ebenezer Scrooge" of Lampar rather than Christmas, and - fitting to that analogy - it'd take a miracle to stop me from hating the things.

In terms of how it reflects back on me OOC, I'm not sure. I guess I'm just cynical? Hm.

  13. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

Oh that's a hard one. The first people to come to mind are @Patsie and @Betterer, who are kind of the 'easy choice' when it comes to picking "best visual appearance", especially when it comes to how those appearances are portrayed in game through skins.

  14. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

I've honestly no clue; I'm a terrible judge for this kind of thing. Sadly, it's not a question I think I can answer properly.

  15. Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?

    Two, actually.

Ssethion is one I struggle to play. He's so much of an asshole that it's actually difficult to play him for me. I much prefered Grégoire and Rryssae's style of being an asshole - which is through playful banter and cheek.

The second is Al' Righteous - a kind of "joke character" who is so fun I might end up trying to get him seriously approved. The reason I find him difficult to play though is that his personality is so loud, obnoxious, and glorious that he takes a lot of effort to play, which is ironic considering he's such a silly and fun character. While usually a great laugh to portray, it's a little exhausting to 'keep up with him'.

  16. Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?

A good, proper, interesting and threatening villain. Bit of an antagonist: when The Zehler Bloodline was announced I was very hyped to try playing one, but my hopes were quickly annihilated by the insanely high skill and community service requirements. It's something I'd love to do, but, of course, it's not something I feel is within my grasp.

  17. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?

Usually it's their humour, which leads to personality, and then visual design; though it definitely varies.

  18. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?

If anything happens to Massive, I wouldn't want them to go to waste, so I plan to hold backups of them - just in case.
Sorry if these were answered poorly, I kind of rushed this because there was so many questions.
Fun stuff though.

  1. Najwa Al-Kalovia? Cain Abiteth
  2. Not specifically, but all my characters share something about me.
  3. Ailor they are easy to play.
  4. Usually come up with the persona in one case the image first.
  5. Yes, Kiska Ama my yanar.
  6. Yes Tsura Serghelia. I wish i could be kind and gentle as her she is always willing to help somebody in neeed.
  7. Yes, Calcifer Silevon. I have his temper I wish i did not.
  8. All my characters have a bit of my traits, it helps me play them more, I can see how my traits are affected in them.
  9. No I do not.
  10. I roleplay them some to see how they come out.
  11. Niantha Hithween she is what i like about yanar she is also interesting and seemingly in depth, she can be hard to roleplay with my characters.
  12. I can not think of one right now.
  13. Ania Santorski.
  14. I hate to say it but N'omiel.
  15. Not really.
  16. I wish I could have a very politically motivated character.
  17. A unique personality. I usually roleplay my character before writing them or designing their physical appearance.
  18. I have made all my characters in D&D for fun to see how they fit in it.

  • Who's the oldest character of yoursthat you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
Kaezir. Made him purely for faction lore but then tried him out in Regalian lore. Was fun.
  • Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
I always take a piece of me and often push it to the extreme. Old news is that I am always try to create something other people will love as much as I do.
  • Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
I dont have a preference. I try specifically to diversify characters. If I already made a human, I will make a few non-humans before I make another.

  • When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
I vary. My characters always come from a brief stroke of inspiration. If I see a sword that strikes me as interesting, I will design a character concept around that. Perhaps I take interest in a particular fighting style and then i will design a persona around that.
  • Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
I have about five. Aziel is a key example. She is my favorite character too be honest.
  • Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
Kaezir. For sure. Wish I could live as unrestrained as him. It's still socially unacceptable for him to act in a few of the ways he does but he's able to apply it in areas that help him excel.

  • Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
My characters usually just inherit them subconsciously or I make an effort to avoid them.
  • If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
Not really. I just find it great to see people adapt to them and how they react.
  • Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
Absolutely music playlists. Honestly, I do that above all else. Nothing like setting the mood to design your character to. Just recently I have spent about 10 hours listening through new songs and mixes on youtube or bandcamp for my new character.

  • When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
Music and references. I usually grab music then google a specific color, then I'll add like noun to it. So I will like google "red" and look for something that interests me like a rose. Then google "red rose". I'll change things up and google "red black". All the while writing out personality then going onto design. Concepting is more fun than the actual roleplaying for me.

  • Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
Oh boy. I dont really have a guilty pleasure but I would absolutely love to see a noble of the absoluter upper crust interact with Kaezir.
  • Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
My characters dont really hate. With the exception of Armin who I only played 2 weeks for various reasons. Maybe I just havent gotten to that point yet with my characters. But when Armin hated, boy did he hate.
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Too many. Ive creeped on so many roleplay events for screenshots in posts and daily creepers, Ive found quite a few people to have some solid foundations. Otherwise most of my personal IC interractions are in a small group. Hopefully that'll change with my new character.

  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
I have had a few brief run-ins with @MantaRey , her characters from what I have seen are often diverse and deep.

  • Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
Never. I either like the character or dont and it comes pretty naturally.

  • Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
Armor design. I desperately need help diversifying armor. I can make a decent set every once and a while but it rarely looks different from other things I have designed.

  • What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
Both are highly important but... personality. If you wanna look gogood but be boring, background character is your destiny.

  • Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
Maybe. Depends on this new character Ive worked the last 6 weeks on building. Looking forward to playing him.

  1. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be?
Hm, for that I'd have to say Gideon Laine @UrnackOfIrtath

You have no clue how happy this makes me. I've been honestly tterified Gideon's rp might come to an end, but having read this, I have a lot of hope for him now. It's time to kick this up.

  1. Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
Nathaniel MacIntosh, though I more or less shelved him, he can be used on occasion due to his practice. 63 years of age.
  1. Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
It has made me see that I consider myself to be a very open person. Understanding about peoples real life experiences. My main character is transgender while I myself am straight. Just putting yourself in other people shoes and gaining an outlook on their life.
  1. Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
Human. I just have always been drawn to the human mind and the flaws of character. While other characters can have some mental development I feel most comfortable with a human, the superior race in Aloria, given that I understand human mentality the most.
  1. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
Definitely persona. As I've been stating I like digging into the mentality of a character as they figure out who they are in society. While visual concept is always nice, it is more or less a second thought in design with few exceptions.
  1. Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Lord Django Baptiste. The Songaskian Zehler I wanted to create. While I will never fit into the vampire scene of the sewers I still love the concept of him. Again, the notion of figuring out who they are. A sun worshipper who can never exist in the sun because it would kill him.
  1. Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
Nathanial MacIntosh seems to embody the most positive traits. Kind spirit, generous, helpful. Just a fun character I loved playing in the time I mained him.
  1. Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
Nicolas Delacroix is riddled with bad traits. She is meant to be my most negative and most complex character.
  1. If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
It really has made me consider how I act in the real world. Understanding these different character traits and how to portray them. It's really meta in understanding using these traits in my own life.
  1. Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
Definitely. For the most part I only due it for my most complex characters. For Lord Django it was Slavic War Drums, then for Nicolas, very emotional music and music about mental struggle.
  1. When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
I used to listen to Mama by My Chemical Romance to get into character for Nicolas. Now I can just jump right into it. I understand her brain a lot better now.
  1. Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
Ulric Typhonus, the way he is portrayed by Cat is just beautiful. Our characters are just too far in opposite directions on the political and ideological spectrum to interact well.
  1. Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
Most bombastic, arrogant characters. There's a few out there. It doesn't really reflect back onto myself because I play by the ideology of keeping things IC. OOC they're all great people and I love what they do, just IC, I hate them so much because of their arrogance.
  1. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Honestly is Cedric. I remember you saying you designed him to not be this overtly attractive male and that has always appealed to me. Creating a realistic character beyond just personality traits. Not everyone is going to be beautiful.
  1. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Cecile Ravenstad. She's just such a complicated character and I would love to get into her brain. I can just feel something whenever I encounter her rp interactions. Just very well done.
  1. Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
On occasion Nicolas can be a struggle. She's transgender, asexual, and a sociopath. Very intelligent and manipulative. It takes a lot to play as her and sometimes I just don't knowing that I wont portray her properly.
  1. Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
Not particularly. Probably the biggest is making Nicolas transgender existence more public. She portrays herself as male out of understanding no one will understand her. However due to consultation this will hopefully happen soon. But yeah, if I have a very deep concept like making Nicolas transgender and the like, I'll do it. I enjoy playing with that. Perhaps what is out of my skill set is playing a normal character without any deeper mental traits.
  1. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
Unique personality. Your character can look like anything but if they don't have a personality backing them then the rp generated is meaningless. So always develop a well rounded personality before going into the look.
  1. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
I wish I could do comic and animation with Nicolas. I have so many ideas that I can't express unless it is visual. I'm a film nerd, I love all the tricks and techniques used to capture emotions and moods. I feel it would be an excellent accompaniment to his character.

  • Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
    • My current oldest character is Ania. All of my previous characters are more or less out of the picture -- either shelved, claimed by death, etc.
  • Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
    • Oh definitely. A lot of my ambitions and my desire to be overall dedicated and physically strong stems into Ania as a character. In a sense she's the kicka** I can never be, but I'd love to be.
  • Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
    • I tend to prefer human characters, and with it I guess I've found a niche for Northerners. Although I'm getting past the usual 'me strong, me kill' Northerne characters -- because I feel it's overdone -- I'm starting to also appreciate the diversity in the cultures for human characters.
  • When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
    • I almost always come up with visual concepts first. After I get an idea of how I want a character to look, then I start considering persona traits and work to edit the visual as I go.
  • Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
    • Yes. This happens a lot, actually. And I'm finding that my former Silveirall character is slipping into the 'never use' box, but I just don't have the heart to trash her entirely.
  • Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
    • Kaja is literally my most morally good character. She definitely has a focus in kindness and, as she ages up, a more stoic persona. Even though she's considered very much past the age of an adult in Regalia, I like to think she still has this bout of youthfulness to her. Pretty much any introvert but with a whole heap of sugar and not a lot of spice.
  • Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
    • Kaja is, ironically, also one of these characters that portrays some bade traits I either have or have had. She gets insecure (for obvious reasons), but she wants to prove to people that she can be something instead of remain on the same platform like those around her. Ania also has a bit of bad to her: and that's usually snark, anger, and occasionally spite or jealousy. These are usually my most 'kept away' traits, even though I don't necessarily get too negative much at all.
  • If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
    • Even though I've written about the various traits that shine through my characters, I wouldn't necessarily say it's affected me. Instead, I'd term that it's made me more self-aware.
  • Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
    • I've actually never created playlists for my characters, and if I do listen to music for them, I mainly stick to Wardruna for my Northerners.
  • When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
    • Oh yes. Even to log on as a certain character, I more often than not have to be in a certain mood. With Ania these days, I actually need to feel as if I'm interested and willing to wait to find people to get involved in RP with me (ironically enough, Ania's one of the easiest to write for regarding character sheet stuff, despite the usual trouble I have logging on as her and staying on while remaining interested); Kaja requires me to feel ambitious, in a sense -- she's a very ambitious character and still has a lot of ground to cover socially; Seris, my former Silveirall, usually stems from me feeling giddy or mischievous.
  • Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
    • The Kades, actually. I find that they're all unique and have their special niches, but I simply either can't RP around the ones present, or I don't have an IC reason, and because I feel like I'm on a different plane in comparison to the Kades in general.
  • Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
    • I actually don't know if I currently have a hating-pleasure-character. Edit: Moselberrrrrrg.
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
  • Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
    • Kaja's a huge struggle for me lately. I think it's because I don't have a direct/specific goal for her yet (and I need one), but I don't seem to have many options for the character; no routes to take, specifically. I also think since she's such a stark contrast from Ania, it makes it tough.
  • Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
    • Politics. Period.
  • What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
    • Unique personality. I dislike following a trend in that regard. Afterwards, I'm always down for cool character visuals.
  • Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
    • I usually just draw some characters of mine or others. Either for free or people request it -- with the helpful bribing with what is money. :}

Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?

Dianne Black (29), I do not have any older character.

Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?

Yes, I get distracted very easily when it comes to writing. When I feel like writing, I will write for about an hour and attempt to finish it. If I feel like it is being forced on me, I will attempt to find a way not to write it.

Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?

Humans and elfs are prefered.

When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?

I try to come up with how they look first. If I feel like they would have some sort of persona concept with their physical appearance then I will add for it. I feel like if I can imagine this person doing something then I will add that as a persona.

Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?

Yes, my first character, Valentine Shyama, not because I don't want to use them. It's more of a personal reason that I don't want to touch the character.

Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?

Sigurna Woodenstaff, I really wish that I could make my character more politically inclined. I always lack this trait for the reason I can't properly express and act on political scenerio other than asking for peace.

Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?

Astrid Kade, I always feel like Dianne has a lot in common with her for being one of the few people I can't read what they are thinking. I feel like they both have something they show the public but hide their true selves.

Elizabeth Black, I feel like being emotional is always seen as a bad thing because it expressed the character a bit much. I'm at fault here but that is the way my character was created, to have a constant conflict of emotions that no can see but her. It isn't something bad, I just feel that both character connect with such negative personality.

If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?

Yes, it helps me feel that I am not the only who has to work around these types of traits for the bad. It also urges me to improve on my lacking traits and those that I want.

Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!

I don't have Pinterest mood board, and most of the songs just depends on the mood. I only listen to music when I am not talking to someone on TS or Skype so it is really hard to pinpoint a song that would embody Dianne.

When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?

Yes, thinking about how my change would fit with the family and listening to music I like. If it is something to do with family or friends, I'll listen to the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack, for reasons that I have yet to figure out myself. If it is something to do with a something that is more of a for fun change, I'll listen to Latin music that I love. I will sometime just listen to disney sound tracks and get inspiration from it. I don't know why but it just helps me relax and feel 'empower' per say. Side note: was listening to the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack while filling this out.

Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?

Cedric Kade, always an empowering person but always so separate for IC reasons. Always would like to rp with him but actions and reactions move him away from rp and I just can't approach him for fear of doing something wrong. Have being trying to fix this from my end.

Jared Kade, this one has been changing with more lose interaction rather than hating each other IC, but views have changed. Always one to tell it how it is but still keep it enjoyable to talk to.

Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?

Percy Ravenstad, I guess this one is in the grey area but falls under here. It more of IC action that he lands in here but IC I try to still see him as a friends per the character. I hate to admit but I have to remind myself sometime that I should hate the player but just the character but event at that I can't hate him.

Cecile Ravenstad, I don't like the constant anger and fighting. I see that it causes roleplay but just don't like the constant friction between this character and mine. OOC, I don't hate ponyo rather a lack of communication on my end with her about issues.

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

This is a hard choice, since most of the character that are around my character are all wonderful in their own right. If I can't pick one without picking from my friend pool. So I'm going to have to split it.

Ania Santorski(@MantaRey), polar opposite of my character but it the more physical woman aspect that always brings me back to this character. Something about her not being a flower noble woman that just works.

Percy Ravenstad(@Muffins_ ), I guess this one is up there. The visual and design of the character always makes you wonder is there is something else going on. I guess it's the mustache.

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

Mysterious Dr. Fong(@DrFong), I guess it's the old man figure that just has a welcoming feel to it. It just depends, your rarely see him but you can always feel like he is around.

Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?

I only have one character, Dianne Black, but even I have a hard time figuring out my own character sometimes. It's a thin line between my feeling and how Dianne should actually act. I sometimes have to think twice before writing anything. I sometimes get frozen and rather retreat than enjoy on important replay in fear of messing it up or not expressing it out properly.

Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?

Politics and leadership, have always lacked on both of those in my mind. This might just be on that character design but also my outside skills that lack on this matter.

What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?

I would say the personality, the looks can always be fixed later but it depends on seeing another character. For my self, starting from the look and adding the personality. However, when looking at someone else's character. I would say the personality would come first rather than views.

Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?

I would be more than happy to write something about my character. I can't draw or animate but I could try my hand at writing about Dianne's life and views. (if I have time and people want to see it.) If someone wanted to help with this, I would be open to it.

  • Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
Nathan Devolt is the oldest character that i stil ocasionaly use. There are a few older characters then him, but i don't use them anymore.
  • Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
Depends on how one looks at it, i discoverd that i'm i can be a decent writer somethimes after writing my second character app.
  • Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
I prefer to stick with Ailors or Nelfin because i'm more familiar with them and i have an easier time to visualize those races.
  • When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
It is a bit both. It either starts with a starting visual concept, wich then influences the persona (wich in turn may affect the visual concept again) Or it starts witha persona concept, wich will give me a visual concept (wich in turn may affect teh persona concept again)
  • Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Yes. Nathan Voss is one such example.
  • Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
One of my previous characters was a very friendly one, difficult to anger. That was a trait directly taken from myself.
  • Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
Most defenitly! WHen i couldn't think of a bad trait, i usualy looked to friends... and myself.
  • If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
No, at least not as far as i am aware of. It may be that it subconciously changed my vieuw of some, can't say for certain.
  • Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
I somethimes do ascociate certain songs to certain characters, but i never made a playlist for them.
  • When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
No, inspiration comes and goes, i can't just "write" or get in the mood to do so. This somethimes result in me pondering for weeks over it.
  • Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
Lizabeth Black, she's a cute smoll cinamon roll. It isn't realy hard to come up with something to try to interact with her. I just don't do it because i can't uphold conversations.
  • Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
Well, in the case of Nathan Devolt that would be William Coen. He things he's a stubborn ass for alway's (to his knowledge at least) doing everything by the rules. It doesn't realy affect me that much on an OOC level. I have seen Billy doing and saying derpy things. I hate his character, not person behind it :)
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Scuffs @Lithiel
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
This is a hard one...But i will have to give this to Ryukarra @Tra_kad
  • Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
All of them, in a way. I have trouble upholding conversations, just as in real life. ontop of that, i tend to answer with short sentences and often fail to translate my toughts into words.
  • Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
I wish i could properly portray someone that is not necesarily bad or good, but has a skewed moral compas, one where you're never entirely sure if it's pointing north all the time.
  • What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
Visual design and unique personality are the msot importand to me
  • Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
If i could make a movie for my now lore-uncompliant Thylan i'd most defenitly do it :)

  1. Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
My oldest character creation is Ryu Nanso. Made him pretty much when I first joined and while he's changed physically and in some mental cases, he's still pretty much my favorite character.

  2. Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
Not that I'm aware, but I do purposely try to incorporate a little bit of myself into my characters for me to relate to them more. Ryu has a strange, no-bars-held sense of humor. Tarak Alden enjoys theorising about history. Tobias Ivaril likes reading books. Etc.

  3. Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
I make relatively few characters, but I'd say Tigran is my preferred character type. Mainly because I just enjoy being outside the mainstream ideals of a Nelfin or a Ailor (yes, yes, I know, hipster words) but also because I thoroughly enjoyed the history behind the Tigranic race.

  4. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
I honestly don't know... They seem to come pretty much at the same time for me, but if I really had to choose between the two I'd say that the Persona concept comes first.

  5. Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
    Nope.

  6. Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
As I said, I always try to employ a bit of myself into all my characters. This tends to be the good traits, :P

  7. Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
...I honestly haven't thought about this. Does indecisiveness count? Because if so, my old Daenderoquin Nelfin, Tarak Alden has this.

  8. If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
...I've never thought about it like that. I don't think so, frankly.

  9. Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
No, but I do routinely think about what kind of music Ryu Nanso would like every now and then... Personally, I think he'd like Simon and Garfunkle, Gypsy Kings, and some various famous bands from the 80's.

  10. When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
Nothing that immediately comes to mind, no. I do enjoy listening to music when I write/rp as characters but it's always the same playlist.

  11. Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
Ryu Nanso, for a very simple reason: School and homework is stealing all my massive-craft time. : /

  12. Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
U-Uhm... uh... I don't remember her name, but the Noble lady that took Ryu's tail a long time back when I first made him. Ryu usually just refers to her as 'That Noble Wench.' I do this because I'd think that a outsider inside a Medieval land with not much better to do besides get drunk on Vodka would hold a pretty large grudge on anyone richer than him that hurt him. This is a perfect example of that.

  13. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Hhhh. I honestly don't pay much attention to the visual detail of characters but if I had to choose, it'd probably be either @BirdieSanders_ or @MolagBallin . I love the skins you two do.

  14. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
    @Oursaxmax with, surprisingly, any of the Bloodborn characters: Looking back, yeah they were uber edgy and cringey, but they were very well executed characters with motive, reason, and feeling. To this day, I still remember most of the Roleplay I did with that bunch of characters. : }

  15. Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
Uhm. Writeing/Playing wise, I have no troubles in any of my characters, so far as I can realize. Drawing, however, is the real struggle for any of my characters simply because I just don't have drawing skills.

  16. Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
A character deseign that I've always tinkered about with was a somewhat crazy Tigran which I coined 'Rabib' for lack of a better idea. Essentially, he'd be a brilliant inventor and/or archaeologist on Tigran history but at the price of being somewhat eccentric and paranoid of everyone. A little fluffy hermit tinkering around with metal tidbits, trying to figure out if the Tigran Empire was a reality or not. Ultimately, I never went through with this char idea as I thought it'd be frowned upon by lore staff as trying to force lore progress in the wrong way or something... Maybe I'm the Paranoid one.

  17. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
Unique personality, hands down. Everyone judges the book of a character from the physical cover, and trends come and go. The only way you're gonna make people remember you in RP terms is if you manage to be quirky somehow: Crack jokes in combat, constantly randomly look up at the rooftops for unknown assassains, spout Heresy when drunk... The choices are endless.

  18. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
Oh man. I've always thought it'd be hilarious to have a comic/animation/whatever inspired off of Ryu Nanso, but ultimately I know I lack the capability to draw out such things to how I'd like them. So yeah, I guess I'm just happy to have them.

  1. Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
My oldest, still used character underwent a change from Q'urebo to Rashaq, going from the snappy, spear-wielding T'aryn to the snappy, dagger-wielding Ra'Kashiin. But all in all they're the same character, and as of this coming summer, I will have played her for two years.

  1. Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
It certainly ignited my love for writing, and deeper thought. My google drive has multiple folders devoted specifically to writing.

  1. Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
More primitive, tribal characters. Race doesn't matter in this as there are so many primitive/tribal races. I feel there's a lot more that can be done with them. You don't see the civilized races squatting over a fire, grilling the Maiar they just killed. Plus, I feel it leads to closer groups, I've made a lot of friends from tribes of one race or another (or the vampire klein pack <3 )

  1. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
I do have a tendency to make up the personality as I go along, and once even changing the gender of a character just before I started playing them. Generally it isn't a visual concept so much as it's a concept at all. For example, T'aryn spawned from the Est'unfae bloodline. I felt like playing a Vampiric klein, so I did that. I made up the gender, race, and name as I made the skin. I actually have a doc for just bare-bones concepts I feel like playing. "Dakkar monk, Moon cultist, Wulong" being three current ideas in there.

  1. Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Not really. I don't kill off my characters that often, they're just shelved for an indefinite amount of time. I went about a year without playing Nalani before deciding "hey, I'm gonna play Nalani again". So I did.

  1. Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
Not really.

  1. Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
There's Jude, who's basically my fears, paranoia, and anxiety turned up 100 notches.

  1. If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
Eh. I don't think any one character has changed affected me so much as my time roleplaying gradually shaping my personality 3 years ago into what I am now.

  1. Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
No, but I really need to. The closest I could come is that for some reason I have this linked to Jude's doc.

  1. When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
Not really. But I do listen to music a lot, which can range from vaporwave mixes to "Fly me to the Moon", with the entire song being replaced with screaming.

  1. Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
Don't think any, sorry.

  1. Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
There's this guy who (used to be?) played by @__Kitsune__ , named Zahak I think. Clawed up pre-rewrite T'aryn's back and through her in a fire (2 separate events). So that obviously pissed her off. But the roleplay was so fun, that I kept the back scar as a reminder, and that weakness has since carried on to Ra'Kashiin

  1. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Just about any Yanar or Mekett (pre and post rewrite) honestly. Especially Mer seedlings and Torrp. I really love the visual idea of plant and beetle people, and I think they're just so fucking cool (especially the Torrp).

  1. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Lucas Amalao. From stone monster guy to cannibal to vampire to normal guy to sad guy. Most people I see tend to have their character be stagnant, and really not change much during the time they're played (myself included, unfortunately often), but Memeo really did well with him. @2001Pokemon2003

  1. Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
Any overly-serious design. Which is why I dropped my noble in a matter of weeks. It's just so hard for me to play a character who doesn't make jokes or do something dumb every time I play them. I like to joke around, that's all.

  1. Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
See above, noble shit. People seem to have fun with it, and I'd like to try that too I guess.

  1. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
Very barebones idea. Often, gender, race, or even personality aren't even determined for quite some time. After the idea, basic appearance started to take shape.

  1. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
If I ever get good at art I'd like to do some sort of comic thing, nothing too serious. I dabble in pixel art and doodles in the margins of my school notes, but that's about it.

  • Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
    • Percy Ravenstad. The only character I made before him was dropped when I designed him so he's the oldest.
  • Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
    • All my characters are a-holes.
  • Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
    • Human. I'm superficial and need my characters to be good looking or pretty. I don't want to play an ugly cat.
  • When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
    • It depends what inspiration I have. The first day I decided to make Percy, I decided "Wow nobody plays knights anymore so I'll do that". But for example with Syviis, I really wanted a curly-haired prettyboy. So it's a toss up.
  • Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
    • Hah yeah. I have so many dropped characters that just sit in a little bin that I never touch. Syviis, Izumi, Rodolphe. Chances are I'll never touch them, but I keep them around in case I will.
  • Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
    • Alexander Kade. I'm not going to act like I'm a genius, I wish I had his intelligence and relaxed personality. He seems to handle anything well, I fall apart when handling stress.
  • Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
    • Percy. Percy has some of my worst traits, but turned up 10 rungs higher. I can be too prideful, too hotheaded, too off-putting. Percy is the same but in a more extreme light.
  • If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
    • I'd say Percy again. Playing him over time has helped me introspect a bit, I notice I put myself out there more often, I'm nicer to strangers, etc. So I'd say it has a small effect.
  • Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
  • When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
    • For Percy I need to listen to the right kind of music. The playlist for Macbeth is something that gets me into it, but I also like to sort of prelude any writing I have by watching videos that inspire me for it.
  • Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
    • Renly Kade. He looks and acts like Chris Pratt and that's just lovely. Unfortunately I don't roleplay much with him because I don't play Rodolphe and Percy's the worst dad.
  • Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
    • Hah. I think Percy just loves to hate William Coen. Funnily enough they're friends. But it's simply because they're at political odds, nevertheless it makes him want to just strangle Willy sometimes, but really he loves the guy. @BillyTheScroofy
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
    • Aethelred von Ultor would get my vote. He's very unusual looking, not many people make elderly characters that aren't a meme. His hair, the liver spots, he's all very different and all together interesting to observe. @Doc_Cantank
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
    • Medard Ravenstad. I don't think people tend to give him the credit due. The intrigue-inclined holy man isn't a niche too often played, not many partake in Sancella politics. Not to mention there is a whole lot underneath just his education at the seminary, he's very intricate and complex in my opinion, and I love picking him apart to see what's inside. @AntonVoron
  • Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
    • Syviis Iletharwen has always been fun and difficult. I can't wrap my head around sewer roleplay, how people stay entertained for months on years. It goes right past me, and I think it always caused me to struggle.
  • Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
    • Anything having to do with magic or religion. Despite reading the lore, I can never grasp either of the concepts, and I don't think I have the knowledge or preparation to tackle the design. Maybe they'd be good fun to play, but I don't think I'll ever really know.
  • What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
    • Lore. I think, above all, having an interesting and in-depth lore for your character or family is above all the most rewarding and important aspect of any design. It gives people something to dig for, it adds purpose to personality, actions, goals, it gives new things to discover and find out about, and best of all, you can always add to it.
  • Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
    • I enjoy writing. But. I doubt I'd ever sit down and write a full-length novel about my family. I don't have the talent to really draw or animate or the likes, so I enjoy my casual bouts of authoring short stories regarding Percy and the Ravenstads.

Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
The oldest character I still use is Saeunn Farbjorg, who I created in early February. The oldest character I have is Ulfljot Vikarsson, who I shelved in January.
Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
Not in particular, although most of my characters have something of me within them, to keep them at least a little relatable.
Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
I've no set preference, but I have noticed that I seem to create more Slizzar characters than any other. I simply enjoy the idea of subtle manipulation and shapeshifting and such.
When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
It depends. I'll sometimes have an idea for a great personality which I later incorporate into a more complete character, but sometimes I'll start with the visuals and set a personality to the body.
Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Yes. Two of my unapproved characters, "Uncle" Adam Scheu and Lovash Dul'loean. I've had trouble playing both of them due to their rather odd personalities and designs, but I hold onto them because I love the idea behind them.
Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
The previously-mentioned Ulfljot Vikarsson embodied a few traits I wish I had, like better focus and more determination.
Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
Quite a few. Saeunn, for example, embodies my pride and vanity, while Lovash represents my envy for others.
If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
It hasn't exactly changed how I view those traits, however, via character development, I've been able to find ways to lessen the bad ones for myself.
Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
I haven't created playlists, although I do have a few songs that I attribute to certain characters.
When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
With Saeunn, I generally imagine that I was flogged by my best friend while simultaneously hearing the best joke in the world and being told I was just elected President of the World. Otherwise, I can usually listen to the right music and type in their accent for a bit.
Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
I can't exactly think of one off of the top of my head.
Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
As most of my characters either hate everybody or nobody, there is no one character in particular that I love to hate.
If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Honestly I love the look of every single Circci I've ever met, and I've always wanted to create a Circci character just for the looks of it.
If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
I'm not sure if I can give a good answer for this, simply because there aren't many characters that I've had lots of interaction with outside of small circles.
Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
Most of my shelved ones, which is the precise reason why they're shelved. However, of my current characters, I'd have to say Uncle Scheu again. He's at once cruel, humorous, and wise, and it's hard to portray all of his many quirks in the correct proportions to each other. I feel that his personality is always a little off every time I play him.
Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
I'd love to try an honest, Unionist noble character, but most of my characters are the exact opposite of that. I also feel that I'm not serious enough for noble roleplay.
What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
I usually focus on my characters' personalities and quirks. Whenever I create a character, I come up with just a few personality traits and eccentricities and turn those into a whole character.
Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
Honestly, no. I don't have much talent in visual arts, and though I do write quite often, I don't believe that I'd ever want to write a novel or even a medium-length story concerning my characters.

  1. Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore? It was Cynsosiel Elael, until she got killed off. Sorta iffy with Penelope Lloyd- she was my second char, but I'd say the concept changed when I rewrote her. A scholarly and relatively talentless vilitatei is a completely different concept from a trilingual Mary Sue assassin with no flaws or weaknesses and proficiency with like every weapon, every mind magic, etc etc. My current char that has lasted the longest is Zelindae Heln'Fiyneij, and she's the first really excellent char I've had in a while.
  2. Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself? Penelope Lloyd's rewritten form was mainly based on my own insecurities- I'm weak, talentless, I think I'm ugly, etc. But seeing her thrive and gain friends despite that all made me realize that even the most talentless potatoes can have good personalities.
  3. Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why? I generally tend to play nelfin more than anything, particularly Saivalthar, Shendar, and Cielothar. I just generally like the archetypes those races fit.
  4. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first? I come up with a personality first, generally, and then I let the character's personality (and race, background, etc) play into their appearance. For example, Zelindae has messy, short hair and loose, casual clothes. This mainly stems from her own laid-back personality.
  5. Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle? I'd say probably Penelope. While the rewritten version of her got quite boring quickly, I'm still emotionally attached to her since she's my oldest character overall.
  6. Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had? None honestly- those chars tend to lead to Mary Sueism imo. Though- Zelindae is my closest Self-Insert sort of char. She's the closest to my age, the most laid-back and calm, and generally has a similar sense of humor. However, she's much braver than me, and waaaay more outgoing- though, her bravery stems into recklessness, and while she's outgoing, she's often naïve af.
  7. Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits? OHBOYherewego. Nes'tariel embodies the part of me that's insecure/over-sensitive and would rather sit around all day sleeping than getting stuff done. Iellatiquanizalaeliaeth embodies my snarky, blunt side.
  8. If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way? Not really, I don't think.
  9. Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them! OH man that's a good idea. While I haven't done this, I do have theme songs for all my chars on their character applications.
  10. When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset? I typically read and re-read their character applications, and listen to music I think relates to them.
  11. Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them? I honestly don't really have an answer.
  12. Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC? Klein. I just really dislike cutesy rp. I know that might sound hypocritical coming from a child rper, but there's a distinct difference between using Ghost Grip for prank purposes and running around the sewers hugging everyone and using "is" every other word. It's also illogical for defenseless lampar to be in the sewers, completely unafraid of the shady folk down there, and end up being completely unharmed. My characters tend to dislike kleinfolk for this reason.
  13. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends! I'd say probably Wilfre Vaendit. I really the idea of actually alien-looking Nelfin, plus his mask is dank. @Grinning_Greaser
  14. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends! I'd say probably Niantha Heiwynn. While I haven't rped with her too often, she's really well-developed in my opinion. @Eccetra
  15. Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is? I'd say probably Iellatiquan. While her character concept strays from the norm of my characters, I always end up feeling like a bit of a jerk when she goes up to some new player and starts berating them for wearing revealing clothing or whatever.
  16. Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about? I find it difficult to play non-mage chars. I'm admittedly not very good at CRP- in a way that I literally fear dodging things OOCly because I think people will accuse me of powergame, and playing chars that legitimately cannot fight is a good way around that.
  17. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character? A unique and fitting personality with traits that all work with each other well. Though, I typically nail down a concept first- for Shadhaa it was a vilitatei Blood Mage, who, instead of being cruel and evil, was not more than caster level, and leaned towards being more morally grey than truly evil.
  18. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them? I've drawn chars together before in humorous situations, but other than that, no.

Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
Bahahah. The only character that I use right now is my Drow Nironor; she's 23. My very much shelved Isldar, who's really gathering dust, is older, though.

Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
A lot of things, probably, but for some reason I'm struggling to pinpoint a particular one.

Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
To be honest, I love all the races. It definitely seems like I lean towards Humans or Elves though when it actually comes to making a character. This is mainly because skinning non-human characters is literal hell.

When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
Definitely the visual concept. In fact, it's so important to me that if I'm not happy with a character's appearance, I'll scrap the idea altogether. It's a pain.

Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Nope. The characters that I make are usually keepers... but it's rare when that happens.

Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
Not particularly. My characters are a way of me expressing myself in ways I most definitely cannot do in real life.

Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
Not yet.

If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
Nope.

Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
Not playlists; I just listen to some music I like when I want to set the mood. I'm not sure if I'd be able to compile them all into a single playlist, in fact...

When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
Eh... I listen to music, but I usually write for characters when I feel like it.

Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
I don't really roleplay much, so I can't really mention anyone here. If I did have a guilty pleasure character, though, I probably wouldn't ever approach them due to anxiety issues.

Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
I don't think I've ever hated a character IC before...

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Definitely @Chiruda. I absolutely love Asha. (Character goals.)

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
I mean, I'm not really familiar with many characters, but I'd have to tag @MourningDoves. I adore her characters. <3

Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
All of my characters, really, mainly because I'm almost always convinced that they can be improved in some way or another. This has a really negative impact on my roleplaying experience.

Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
I'm pretty uncertain about my ability to play any character whatsoever, but right now I really want to make a vampire character and have a throwback to 4 years ago. I'm not sure if I will, though.

What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
The visual design. Always.

Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
I want to get better at drawing characters and such, but my motivation is at an all time low, unfortunately.

god these questions were hard to answer

  • Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
My oldest character is Sïlaúdas Gwe'Fiyneij, at a grand old age of 79. My oldest character ever (or at least mentally oldest) would be Harold Nava de Lo. He was a real old man character, and though he wasn't as old as some of my elves he was the only one that acts old.
As for irl, I just redid/made a new batch of characters, so they're all newborns. My very oldest character is almost 4 years old, and I constantly recycle him into new ones to see if anybody notices.
  • Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
Yes, actually. A little. Often I take something that I think is like me to be a personality trait, but when I start playing it, I realise that actually I'm nothing like that and would really dislike someone who was like that.
  • Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
Circci. They're just soooooo interesting. My first ever proper character (and then the proceeding five or six) were Vespids, which were essentially the first iteration of Circci - that's when I became interested in them. Now, I just find the whole idea really intriguing. I don't see very many people playing them either, which is a shame (though probably accurately to the lore - there aren't all that many of them).
  • When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
Persona almost every time.
  • Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Not really - I recycle successful characters a lot an de don't really find I think difficult.
  • Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
Not really. There are one or two that have a few traits like that, I suppose.
  • Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
Yes. "Dal'satt Eidol'trichktoll" was a cross between all of my nasty traits and my first ever character. He was more misguided than evil, but he did a whole bunch of horrific things to achieve his goals. He was very spiteful, quick to develop grudges, he was hard to anger but dangerous to anger, aaand.. He was very sweary, amongst other things. Only sweary in X'ota, mind you.
  • If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
Eh.. Not really, no. The traits that I put into characters are so magnified and amplified that it is difficult to relate it back to me properly.
  • Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
No, but I should. Sounds fun!
  • When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
I tend to listen to music while writing/role playing, and that often helps I think.
  • Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
I'd love to roleplay with @Erizu 's Nironor, because I've heard a lot about them but never have really experienced them first-hand. This "guilty pleasure" character tends to change a lot though.
  • Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
I can't think of one right now, but that's proapbably because I'm on holiday and so haven't rped for a little bit. Might come back and answer this, you never know.
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Hnnnn. I tend to forget what characters look like very easily, so it's difficult for me to remember one. In addition to that, I put very little weight on my own visual character design, which makes it tricky for me to notice it in others. One that does stick in my mind, though, is again @Erizu 's lil Nirrie.
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
@NariTheKamikaze 's Dahae - she's just so nice. There are no characters that are as nice as Dahae. I feel like if I had to pick a character to cuddle, it would be her. She's like niceness incarnate. However, her other personality traits aren't lost under this main idea, which is something I struggle a lot with.
  • Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
I find my new character - goes by the alias of Dragonavich - very difficult to play for many reasons - mostly, he was intended to be a very comical and clueless righteous knight character, which I find almost too embarrassing to play. I've since turned him into a basically dull and muted person who seems dangerous but has some ridiculous views - which is fun, but not at all what I was going for.
  • Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
I really wanted to make a noble that is a Diviner - not publicly of course, but still. I thought it might be fun, especially if there then was a family with similar views, however I'm only active every second week and so couldn't really sustain a noble character.
  • What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
A unique personality and an interesting new niche to fill. One hundred percent. Visual design is very much secondary, probably tertiary.

Pricilla Ta'ren is my currently oldest active character. My oldest character is Edith Briar, my first character.
has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
Yes it has actually. It made me realize that I actually enjoy creative writing.
Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
Yanar, because plant people have always fascinated me before I even joined the server.
When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
I usually come up with the persona concept first.
Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
All the time. I always come up, or think of character ideas that I never bring to life.
Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
Yes, my yanar Fayllen embodies some traits I have and wish I had.
Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
All of my characters negative traits somewhat resembles my bad traits.
If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
It hasn't really affected me in any way.
Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
No.
When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
I'll usually daydream about different scenarios and basically bring that character to life in my mind.
Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
Britta Santorski, because the way her character is played is just so remarkable. I love her design and her concept.
Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
I don't have a character that I hate IC or OOC really.
If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
@Ryria - Britta Santorski
If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
@deadfoe51 - Veridan Daevaar
Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
My Allar Slazz, because It's a new concept for me. I've never really rped as a giant lizard.
Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
I really want to roleplay as a character that is an Orc mercenary, but I'm to nice to act as an Orc.
What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
Visual and personality are the two most important things that I map out in my characters designs.
Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
I'm just happy to have them.

Hhhh. I honestly don't pay much attention to the visual detail of characters but if I had to choose, it'd probably be either @Scafuto or @MolagBallin . I love the skins you two do.

  14. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
    @Oursaxmax with, surprisingly, any of the Bloodborn characters: Looking back, yeah they were uber edgy and cringey, but they were very well executed characters with motive, reason, and feeling. To this day, I still remember most of the Roleplay I did with that bunch of characters. : }

I didn't expect that.

  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
This is a hard one...But i will have to give this to Ryukarra @Tra_kad

For anyone really confuzzled about this: Ryukarra was a character I created for a NationStates RP based on a futuristic version of Aloria: Basically a Emperor Tigran. I still use him with krios every now and then, but he doesn't actually exist inside of Massivecraft the server.
yet.
I'd also say he has no relation to my Tigran, Ryu Nanso, what-so-ever but technically speaking in the NS RP Lore, he was something like the Great Great Great x Grandson of Ryu Nanso so...
Yeah

I didn't expect that.
I had to think about it for a long, long while too. I was honestly torn between you and @Mycin but he doesn't really play anymore and I didn't get much of a chance to RP with him in the first place. I guess you just made more of an impact on my new-to-RP mind at the time. :P

  1. Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
Ri'az, he's my first serious character.
  2. Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
I'm bad at writing, And I enjoy playing ******** characters.
  3. Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
None, really, but I have the most fun when I'm playing a Tigran
  4. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
Personality, because I base my OC's look by their personality.
  5. Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Rhys, I don't think I will ever play him again but it's good to keep him around just in case.
  6. Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
I base Ri'az on my real life personality alot, so it would be loyal and humorous(maybe idk lol)
  7. Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
Oskar's hardheaded, and arrogant trait seems to match me.
  8. If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
    I don't think so, nope.
  9. Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
    Nope.
  10. When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
I often imagine then first on my head before I start writing.
  11. Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
    None could I think of.
  12. Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
I don't hate any characters ICly and OOCly.
  13. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
    Percy Ravenstad.
  14. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
    Personality wise, I don't know.
  15. Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
Bastian, mainly because I don't fit playing with over religious though I'm trying to improve my rping skill by playing OC with different personalities.
  16. Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
Maybe, I'm trying to get massive character development for Ri'az and Oskar, since those two are my main.
  17. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
Visual Design, I enjoy seeing peoples art of their character.
  18. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
I might try making a comic, once I improve my drawing skills.

  1. Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
My oldest character is Noelle Hath - who I've been playing for about nine months out of my ten, my first character though was my character Faeth Rhovaneth who only lasted three weeks.
  1. Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
Creating Noelle made me discover that I am actually a really sarcastic person out of character - and while I don't mean to be, I can also be a bit mean.
  1. Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
I prefer writing Ailors out of all the races, mostly because you can write them so many different ways and really have nothing holding them back or making them better than real Humans.
  1. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
I normally come up with the visual concept - and by 'come up with' I mean I see a picture of someone's drawing and put a personality to it that evolves into a character.
  1. Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Merina, I love her so much and she's so sweet and innocent but quite boring in all honesty. I also don't have a lot of time to play her bouncing between my two mains.
  1. Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
Not really, I always try to make my character into something I'd never want to be or is the opposite of me.
  1. Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
Juliette and Noelle both share the trait of being sarcastic little f-ckers, which I also am.
  1. If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
Nope.
  1. Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
I have a playlist that has all the songs that inspired or remind me of one of my characters or things that have happened to them, click here! (Be warned, some of those songs are a bit...explicit.)
  1. When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
Nope!
  1. Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
I don't really know, I interact with almost everyone I see.
  1. Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
Dante Jaeger (or whatever his new name is @MrSpideyPool ). He was so unfair and unfaithful towards my now dead character, Eshe and caused a lot of drama that was fun to do. I actually consider Spidey a really good friend of mine though I might seem a bit desperate because Eshe was.
  1. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
This might seem odd, but I love the appearance of Ztril Merril @Eyrok .
  1. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Again, a bit odd but I love the personality of Tristan, currently and before Freya. @SupremeCripple
  1. Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
Merina Taliesin is so hard to play, she's really antisocial and wants nothing to do with people so when others try to talk to her, you'd imagine she'd be rude and ignore them: which she does and then I feel bad OOC about it!
  1. Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
I want my character Noelle to do something drastic, really drastic, and I'm not going to give away what but I'm still considering whether for it to happen yet or not.
  1. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
Unique personality! I like standing out in that way.
  1. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
I'm using the concept of my Regalian characters for characters in stories and - if I manage - a book I'm writing!

  1. Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
Limben Tara is my oldest character though I had akoni longer. I am thinking of rewriting the character soon.
  1. Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
Limba made me realize a lot about myself and my grandpa's death. He also made me think about myself quite a bit which depressed me a bit but really started to make my life better.
  1. Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or MAIAR characters? Why?
I like my maiar characters because maiars are the best. I really like the design possibility and how easy it is to get a maiar approved. They are a good input and can get you a good character.
  1. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
Visual Concept
  1. Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Limba Tara, I don't often use him anymore.
  1. Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
Limba shows my want for peace, Ho'Ohui my want for popularity, Akoni my want for intellegence, and Peniamina shows my want for physical capability.
  1. Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
I don't really have a character like this. I try to roleplay characters I want to roleplay as.
  1. If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
Writing Limba really showed me a new view on life and how it works and the delicate line between philosophical and physical factors.
  1. Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
Nope! I draw them sometimes! I draw diagrams for concepts sometimes.
  1. When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
I have to get in the mood to debate and stay up till 1 o'clock.
  1. Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
I have always loved fong. Such a great character. I don't interact with him often because I often have the right mindset to play limba, who is my only character that relates to him.
  1. Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
A friend of mine had a character. She was this cute little shendar girl that had a horrifying corrupt form. I always loved that character and the concept.
  1. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
@KiddingAround No offense but the old design for nal roh wasn't great. But his recent rework is INCREDIBLE and I just love being around him.
  1. If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
@DrFong I know it may be biased but I am like the biggest fong fan. The way fong balances his sanity and con artistry is just amazing
  1. Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
Limba is hard to play just because of his major philsophical obsession. If he sees a sewer fight: HE HAS TO JUMP IN THE MIDDLE. and other things. He must stop a conflict or make something better.
  1. Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
Wulong and Sa-Allar characters. Also Circci. No matter how hard I try, I always seem to get insta-rejected so, I guess Ill try again in 10 years.
  1. What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
All of it, I am trying to make a great character that works on many levels right now...
  1. Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
Faction roleplay, comics, story writing, artz.

Little edit to the skin thats been bugging me,
If you mean his skin, I'm going to need to give @conflicttFTW a shoutout here. He turned my awful template into a work of art.
connect the two chest plates together into one and shade the line in between them, make it more rectangular rather than profane. that would likely make it better

The chest piece is all one plate and if you look at the art on the Dakkar page it is rounded not a square.

1: Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
My oldest character is Alvaro de Santigo, 36. I did have Arnulf Aldalithe, an Anglian/Altalar that was in his eighties but I don't play him often.

2: Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
Yup.

3: Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
Mostly human characters, I find them easier to relate to. That's not to say I haven't had plenty of fun playing my Tigran, Elf or early Yanar characters.

4: When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
I do both at the same time.

5: Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
Oh god yes.

6: Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
Yes.

7: Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
Yes. Find out IC.

8: If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
Definitely, I find it much easier to connect with those characters and they tend to stick around for longer.

9: Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
Nope, but there are definitely songs/artists that remind me of my characters or different long-term events like the Lo occupation.
Alvaro:
Nico:
Lo Occupation:

10: When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
I was boutta get real deep for this question. noPE.

11: Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
@LadyTeddington Astrid Kade.
@MantaRey Kaja Santorski.

12: Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
Pretty much all of the characters that @SlyChung has. She thinks I'm an ass.
AlsO, particularly religious unionist characters @AntonVoron and @Doc_Cantankerous -more because they can generate very interesting conflict in Regalia. I do justify my IC actions with IC reasons however.

13: If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
@Caelamus @Julesandlucky @Pastellanar

14: If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
I don't think it's much of a secret that I appreciate both @LumosJared 's Jared Kade and @SupremeCripple 's Tristan. Out of my nine or so months on Massive I'd have to say my most interesting RP has stemmed from their characters or was a result of orders from these characters.

15: Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
So many. Probably because I find a lot of my characters difficult to relate to or don't give them enough time to build relationships with other characters.

16: Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
I'd really like to play a character that would often be seen as edgy but portray it in such a way that isn't e dge

17: What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
A unique personality and visual design are both very important to me when creating a character.

18: Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
I write short stories about events in my characters every now and then, but I've let my ability to draw slip away so I don't think I'll be making an animation or a comic any time soon.

Yeah

I had to think about it for a long, long while too. I was honestly torn between you and @Mycin but he doesn't really play anymore and I didn't get much of a chance to RP with him in the first place. I guess you just made more of an impact on my new-to-RP mind at the time. :P
Yeah kiddo I'm long gone.

Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
  • Probably Maddi who is in her early thirties. I have one shelved character thats probably older who's NPC life I think about sometimes but isn't defininite.
Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
  • (I use thesaurus.com a lot) That I put a lot of myself into my characters. In a kinda self-inserty way.
Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
  • I enjoy Ailors, or generally humanish characters. The only reason I really have is that it's easier to find and make skins and also that its easier to play a character whos limits I can compare to my own.
When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
  • Sometimes one, sometimes the other. Most times it's the personality. But sometimes i'll just be drawing and ill try and make a character out of if.
Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
  • Oh yes. Yes. I always have that "what if.." with my characters so that I can't really give them up. Most times if I really like a character I'll remake/recycle them though.
Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
  • Yes. I've had noble white night characters or outgoing characters that are everything I've wanted to be.
Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
  • Maddis is very angry, and blunt, and loud. Ed was just some shy stumbling mess that I had second-hand embarassment for. I've played a one time prostitute (ew).
If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
  • Yes because all of the traits make you think of a "why" and it made me ask myself and others why?
Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
  • I have songs that make me think of characters, if so they're on their apps. Pinterest is mainly for design ideas that I keep all in one board.
When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
  • Usually my characters all have "moods" that I have to be in to actually want to play them. Sometimes I'll feel like persuing one thing more than the other or a specific type of RP so i'll play the matching character.
Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
  • I have a few... @NariTheKamikaze Fenic is really cute and i've always loved his art and how he looks. He's a fur baby. (I dont really interact because I havent seen you around much and I also get on and different times. Oopsie)
  • And @Eccetra Ni/Nadina is probably one of the longest played characters i've seen. Her design is so cool and I love how she acts. (I dont interact with you much because again, timing and activity gets in the way. Also Ni is busy a lot and also blue names anxiety idk¿)
Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
  • Alright so.. I feel like I avoid quite a few people in rp but somehow manage to start talking shit about their characters IC by hearing around. I feel like this makes it seem like I'm trying to get at them OOC so if I have problems with the person I'll keep character interactions short.
If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
  • Tristan and Ryker (Just because their art looks great and I love how their faces look)
  • Kaja Santorski, for being a not so pretty noble woman who doesnt use looks to get shit.
  • Zaan Haaven, just for being really plant daddy and all his little outfits are cool af.
If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
  • My character Agnes (shelved) just because I had her and designed her before really understanding the lore so she isnt exactly compliant. But I love her so, it's hard to play her anymore.
Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
  • A powerful character who is open and friendly and can talk to anyone. I'm bad at asserting myself.
What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
  • I try and get personality down just because I need to know why they dress or look a way.
Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
  • I think about them a lot. I draw them a lot, so yes.

Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
Oldest character that I still use is Raja. Only character that I really count as an old one that I don't use anymore is Susanna Bottone.

Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
Ye.

Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?

Human, but I've considered playing a Half-Orc, and have had throwaway Orcs. Human's are nice because of their first rank citizenship, but also I like the 'plainness' of them but yet there is still a lot to do with them. Like culture and easy to form accents because of that.

When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
It's kind of a combination, because I like how they look to match their personalities. Raja has short hair and a simple pair of earrings as I see that as practical and simple. Agnette has longer hair and a middle part because I see that as fitting for a younger innocent girl.

Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
I have a Ch'i named Hana, her personality is fun to play but I think I've only played her a total of three times. I prefer to play her with her sister around, as half the fun of her is trying to get her sister mad. But I'll use her again.

Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
Raja has some admirable traits, getting stuff done. She's persistent and I'd say the same about myself.

Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
Not really.

If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
More reserved characters maybe. It's made me want to be less reserved.

Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
I often look for songs for all of my characters but I'm really picky in what I chose. Raja and Agnette have Pinterest boards. Raja's is a bit outdated and from the short time I still had her as an Alma mage, so, books. But Raja likes books and it fits with her coming from a Hadtriya, in my mind. (Might link them at another time, can't currently).

When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
I listen to their culture's equivalent music, and am likely to read over their app/race/culture page again.

Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
There's been some cool looking Elves with a lot of tattoos/piercings that I've liked, but both main played characters tend to avoid Elves and heretical looking people. Except for Avanthars sort of or people she works with (for Raja).

Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
Ha. Garret Ames. Though I'll only say his name.

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
@Tracenator1 's Cieolthar. I just really like headbands.
@Bellarmina 's Half-Elf Aesling is a cutie.

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
A few good ones I'm thinking of but not tagging.

Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
Not anymore. And it was because I needed time to develop them.

Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
An elderly Altalar woman that is going threw her clown makeup phase, and cons people to get more money to pay for nice things to feel better about herself. Talks big and has loyal hired thugs she calls her darlings but also idiots.

What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
I really try for a balance of visual design and personally.

Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
Probably nothing more, happy to have them.
