As we all should know by now, the once mighty, clean, and fun world of Ceardia is going to die. However... I personally think that there is much merit in creating a copy of the world and wasting it.

By 'wasting' I mean converting the familiar hills, deserts, forests, icelands, swamps, islands, and oceans of Ceardia into a vast wasteland biom of some sort. Leaving the ruined hulks of notable bases (like Alamut's city and the leavings of Magenta) behind as slag and stone covered ruins to be explored by users. SilverEdge could be saved by a dome of some sort, or perhaps risen up on a mighty plateau or even a floating island by the magical beings that inhabit it (would create a viable RP reason and method for the city to survive). The rest of the world would be very similar to the old Ceardia (same continents and such), but would have large craters, massive volcanoes, and regions of the world that have sunken or risen depending on the idle whims of the admins who do it. A few oasis and a scattering of obsidien trees later and you have a true wastland world worthy of a server like this.

A few notes on the world:

  • There would be NO ores beneath its surface, as they were all used up prior to the worlds destruction. The world would be solely for fun and interest, not for resources.
  • A few memorable locations would be kept, but in a ruined form (I'm sure you'll find many volunteers willing to ruin their old homes in a pretty manner).
  • Obsidian Trees would replace the old ones, just the wood parts. This is because of petrification of wood over time with given heat and pressure. Or magic. Magic is always fun.
All in all, this would be a good meet-between with saving EVERYTHING from that world and saving NOTHING from that world. If you create a ruin of Ceardia, you can still visit all your favorite places... just destroyed in a recognizable but distinct manner.

Yeah. This sounds awesome. And if you put that together with my idea on "More Events like Farmlands"...

This will make Massivecraft into a truly living, breathing, environment.

We dont know whats going to happen to cerdia, im sure there will be a VERY epic RP reason or event that causes Cerdia's annihilation :)
So depending on whats going to happen, RPwise it may even be impossible.[DOUBLEPOST=1360474445][/DOUBLEPOST]My point is, we cannot tell the future.

Ilike this idea, I had thought about something like this once, but I imagined it being more so "cracked" up, like into small isles like an archipelago.[DOUBLEPOST=1360475799][/DOUBLEPOST]With the buildings being overgrown and all

I like this, but I think Silveredge too should be in ruins, though kept in safezone. Maybe with some large RP event with Mrsbaver showing up and wasting it.

I'm considering the option of force renewing the landscape in Ceardia. The problem is I might destroy wilderness homes and hidden chestshops that I cannot see.

*wouldn't mind if the entire landscape of Ceardia was wiped out and just replaced with a new world made to look the same shape as Ceardia, but ON FIRE!*

If you CAN renew Ceardia that will be pretty cool :)

I like your idea Marty. But clearing everything will remove exspired chest/loot for people to loot :/

I agree with everything you said Mecharic, except for the petrified trees. (unless the source is magic, in which case I'm fine with it.) Because if they became petrified over time, that probably means that all of our characters, unless we are undead or vampires, will have to die if we want to stay true to RP. Because trees becoming petrified takes a long time.

It was not meant that way, my bad. It was an honest question, besides an asteroid impact or collision with another planet it would be damned hard to create a volcanic wasteland without magic :P

Maybe Mrs. Baver could destroy Ceardia and a wizard could restore it.
It would look like it was just created.
This is just an idea.
