As anyone would, with a hearty laugh and soul-filled grin. Brynjar is a man of plenty of expressions, and being happy & content is one of many that he is extremely capable of. Never will you find him not trying to crack a joke to make you laugh, or to even flatter you. Albeit, many of these emotions are expressed in the confines of privacy. How would your character respond to experiencing Fear? Fear is a primal thing, which lives in each & every organism. Brynjar’s expression of fear is nothing far from primal, as he will react in an almost defensive and volatile manner. He will remain in a ‘cornered dog’ state, until removed from the situation. How would your character respond to experiencing Stress? Stress will break anyone who is unable to handle it. However, those who are adept enough can use stress to their advantage. In Brynjar’s case, he often uses stress to accomplish tasks in a quick & efficient manner, in order to remove himself from the stressful situation. How does your character view Law and Authorities? The law is the law, as many say. Others would say law is used to control. Brynjar would agree with both statements, seeing law & authority as a necessary evil in order to keep balance. He has no disdain towards the authorities, however, corruption sickens him to the bone. How does your character feel about Races other than their own? Nature creates all, one in the same. Brynjar would not argue with this, often viewing many foreign organisms and creatures with equality, the same as his own. In a natural sense, they all exist because nature has created them for some sort of reason. How does your character feel about Religion for themselves, and other faiths? Due to his Velheimer culture, he would be considered a heretic in the eyes of the Unionist Dominated Regalian Empire - as Brynjar is a follower of the Oldt Fayth, though not strong. He often does not discuss his own faith, but has a disdain for Unionism as it bears a strong tyrannical nature in his eyes. How does your character feel about the Arcane and Magical in the world? Once witnessing many-a Staargir, he does not dispute the existence of said Magic. Though, Brynjar does not involve him with such a life, as he views it as something one must be chosen to perform. How does your character feel towards their family? Like father, like son. Following the classic Velheim relation, Brynjar and his Father held a very close & unmatched bond up until his death. However, Brynjar held a strained relationship with his mother, as she was a Bond Wife. He considered his father’s wed wife to be his own mother instead. What is your character the most proud of about themselves? Brynjar would say that he is in fact proud of his own ability to persevere hardship. Traveling across the ocean and away from home isn’t easy, you know. What motivates your character to move forward and better their life? History is written by the victors, said a great man. Brynjar would say the same, and wishes to prove himself and go down in history, as few of his culture do nowadays. His family's legacy also seems to be at stake, in his eyes - despite not being a noble. What is your character's biggest insecurity? His ability at speaking the Common tongue. He often stammers and has poor word choice at times. Many times when he speaks, he seems to concentrate very hard as to not make a fool of himself. What is your character's biggest fear? To be forgotten, as many before him have been. ‘What use would I be if I were simply forgotten?’, Brynjar often asks himself. He often attempts to do the most, in order to avoid this. Life Story. Birth. Brynjar is said to be the oldest of three sons, fathered by Halfdan Asketill. His father, Halfdan, was said to be an honorable man - at least in the words of Brynjar. His mother, Asa, was a Bond Wife to Halfdan, alongside Halfdan’s Sol-Kvinne, Frigg. Brynjar was born in the year 285 A.C, prior to the birth of his other two siblings, in a small fishing hamlet on the shores of Nordskag. Halfdan was an adept, yet simple, carpenter, unlike his father, and his prior, who's professions remain a mystery. And Frigg, alike, was only a simple Sewer. Brynjar’s blood mother, Asa, was often neglected in their home, often ordered to handle simple tasks, keeping the home clean and orderly. With this, Brynjar would learn to also neglect his mother, despite her relation to him. From a young age, Halfdan would recite stories of his ancestors before him, about their relation to the Skagger Horde, and tales beyond Brynjar’s capability of understanding. This greatly expanded Brynjar’s lust for achieving something greater than his meager self. Teenage Years. In his teenage years, Brynjar took many-a job in his hamlet, whether it was in his fathers’ Carpentry shop, assisting traveling merchants, or on a small fishing vessel, even hacking down tree stumps, he did what he could to make whatever sort of earning he could. He had a plan he had set for himself, to leave his town, to travel to Kongehjem, and further out into the lands unknown to him. Making a name for himself seemed to be his ultimate desire, and he had set himself to complete his quest. Continually earning what he could, whether it be physical currency, or even bits of clothing, he eventually earned himself enough. Rather, what he called enough. In fact, he had gained himself only a scabbard, belt, and a Vendel helmet. The currency which he had earned, he kept with him. At last, he had what he deemed worthy of getting him to his destination. Roughly at the age of 16, now, his father had been robbed by a band of traveling bandits. During the robbery, his father was killed, and with him, most of his earnings. Upon hearing this, his family mourned. Justice was far from existent in their hamlet, and all hope in bringing justice to his death was lost to them. Left behind was his father’s axe, which Brynjar took willfully. With this, he had set his eyes on his goal once more, and now, he would have justice to drive him to accomplish it. Exodus. Cliche as it was, he bid his farewell to Frigg, leaving his two brothers & his blood mother behind. He embarked on his exodus to Kongehjem. With the earnings which he gained prior, he was able to comfortably make it down to Kongehjem, despite it being on his own two feet. In many of the towns which he had passed through, he often found the local Staargir, looking for some sort of foresight into his fate & destiny. Brynjar did not find much success in this, however, smaller foresight into smaller-scale events were enough of an indicator that he was indeed on the right path. In his travels, he also picked up a knack for Svele cakes, so much so that he would eventually take the nickname Svele itself. Despite devouring such fattening cakes so often, his on-foot exodus kept him relatively in capable shape. Arrival & Continuation. In due time, Brynjar had arrived in Kongehjem. The imposing stories & sights of the city were awe-inspiring to the young man, so much so that he stayed for a time. Years had passed, and Brynjar had picked up a job as a sort of Tracker. His time Tracking led him to capturing everything from people to on-the-loose pigeons. Whatever he could do to make a coin or two, the job was his. As unhonorable as it was, he deemed it as a simple stepping stone to getting him to the next one in his journey, and in his destiny. As his time had grown long in Kongehjem, eventually, his desire for more than just the city grew. Adventure & aspirations remained, and drove him to bribing a spot on a merchant ship to Regalia, where he remains now. Eager now, he wanders, looking to further his ability for greatness. The next stone in his story remains unturned, and by the Old Gods, he will turn them - even if it means risking it all.
