Bruised

She'd decided that maybe it was time to take it slow and read a book for once after collapsing onto her bed and wishing for death. The girl had switched into a shift to sleep in despite knowing that would take a bit. She'd never felt like this before; worn to the bone and sore all over. The maid she'd requested to help her dress had been rather shocked by the large bruise that covered her side, put there by the hit from the Orc in the tavern.

She still shuddered at the thought, especially the aftermath of Valbrand's blade find its way through her attacker's chest. Worms had come creeping out from the bloody wound and she hadn't decided whether they had actually been there or if it had been an illusion. The reminder that Britta had stumbled away gagging was enough to convince her that it most likely had really occurred and that was more unsettling than the thought that maybe she was going mad.

The young guard picked up a book from her rather book-bare shelf, only those on places around Aloria and maps took home there. The thought of maps reminded her of the woman named Kat-something, causing the girl to swear in a low voice as she had promised to pay the woman a visit to order herself a map. She most definitely was getting herself one now, to make up for that pain that covered her, bone deep. Her eyes closed as she leaned back against her bed, letting out a long sigh - what a long two days it had been. Honestly, it felt like a long time ago since she'd played Anglian Shuffle only yesterday with Val, Garret, and the two Santigos. She gave another soft sigh as she turned on her side.

She didn't remember exactly when the maid had come to her side, but it was probably around the time her shriek had ended and she'd hit the floor. Ouch. "Lady Juliette?" The maid was saying, kneeling besides her, "My lady, you should get up off the floor now." The noblegirl's tired focus was unsteady, taking several minutes to open her eyes and look at the maid, the same as who had help dress her. "My lady?" The maid's voice was filled with concern as she slowly stood, pulling Juliette with her and then slowly tucking her into her bed. "Rest, my lady." The maid whispered as she slowly sank to the floor, watching the young girl as she slowly drifted off. It wasn't that sleep had overcome her - not entirely. Juliette was just calmed knowing she was not alone and no one was going to hurt her with someone at her side.
