The girl sat by the lake.
She was hardly an adult but barely a child.
Her brown, thick hair stuck to her face with water and the dried blood that remained in it even after the Elven woman with the corn colored hair had cleaned her face. Her face look like a failed painting, all black and blue and purple.
Her face was dark around her eye, blackened by the elbow or knee- she couldn't remember which -of the one she believe her closest friend. Her chin was black as well, the bottom from where she had been kicked.
The girl shuddered, thinking of the crack that had come from her teeth when her mouth snapped shut. She stuck her finger in her mouth and gently prodded at her cracked tooth, slightly relieved that it was one of her few remaining baby teeth. Blood spotted her finger once she finally left the broken tooth alone, shaking her hand slightly to flick it off.
She placed her face in her hands, bruised fingers weaving into her hair as if trying to cling to her last bit of mental strength. She had no one.
No mother to guide her, no father to protect her, no friends to comfort her, and no one at all to love her. The fourteen year old swiped at her eyes, wincing slightly.
Her one dream was to become an actress one day.
The girl took in a deep breath and closed her eyes for a moment to calm herself. An actress can hide how she truely feels.
The girl smiled brightly, sitting up and the last bit of Daria's innocence fell to the ground and into the many cracks that nearly matched her broken heart.
