Her brief escapade with a boy in the city center left her pregnant out of wedlock and a disappearing father. After Bronagh’s birth, she went to live with her parents. The post-partum depression left her devastated and eventually a winter illness. This left a three-year-old Bronagh to be raised by her grandfather and grandmother. From a young age, Bronagh expressed great interest in the outdoors. By six, she would accompany her grandfather on his daily hunts for deer, rabbit, and boar to sell in the village. She felt most comfortable and happy in these silent moments, watching the fog roll across the volcanic mountains as her ears were perked intently, waiting for the faintest scuffle or huff. At eight years old her grandfather gifted Bronagh her first bow. The girl became adept at shooting very quickly. Her bow became her most prized possession and she was unable to sleep at night without knowing that it and her arrows were placed beneath her cot. Her grandmother makes attempts at molding her into a more presentable lady but Bronagh would throw tantrums to no end at the intricate hair braiding and the skirts that made climbing trees much harder than it needed to be. Eventually, her grandmother gave up, the child would always be one with an independent spirit and an inkling to disappear in the woods. She draws a very close connection with her religious roots in worshiping the Draoidh Feya. Going to the worship groves every year became one of Bronagh’s most looked forward to occasions. Her grandparents eventually accept Bronagh’s gift at hunting and she becomes an integral part of the family’s income generation. By the time she is a teenager, Bronagh outhunts her grandfather. She also demonstrates advanced skills in pathfinding and from time to time is hired to help scout paths through the mountainous terrain between villages. At seventeen, her grandmother passed away naturally, and while it breaks Bronagh’s heart, she knows she must stay strong for the sake of her grandfather. The next few years are rough as Bronagh tries to juggle the responsibilities of the household with hunting for income and sustenance. Her grandfather’s frailty leaves him stuck in the home. She gives up hunting at nineteen and twenty and gets a job at the local tavern in order to remain closer to home to keep an eye on her grandfather. Her unusual choice in attire (namely pants and short hair) and rumors surrounding her sexuality make keeping the job incredibly difficult. When her grandfather passed away a few days before her twenty-first birthday, Bronagh is absolutely devastated and she mourns his loss for weeks. She then comes to the realization that there is nothing keeping her tied to the island any longer. She makes up her mind to journey to the Regalian Empire in order to make a new life and find herself. Whilst she misses the terrain of her homeland, she knows she needs to explore more about who she truly is and what she wants to pursue. She knows that Regalia is one of the best places to do this and she hopes to find employment as well as a new family that can accept her for who she is.
