Life Story ___Briar was born within a peasant’s homestead on November 8, 279 AC. Unfortunately, the land where the local lord ruled was done so unrightfully. Their lord was arrogant, and all of the peasants under his rule were looked down upon. The local guards shared his sentiment, thus the citizens of the land endured their scorn regularly. To make more coin for his family, he helped his father with his tannery. Everyday life was gray; even if he found any outlets to take a break from his work, those of the higher class and local guardsmen ridiculed him even as a child. ___In 290 AC, the lord of the land began to gentrify the majority of his demesne. The peasant class were pushed back further from the inner rungs of society within the land. Wealthier newcomers began to settle into the lordship, breeding more disdain towards those poorer than them. Briar could do very little given he was still a child at this point in time. Briar’s father became ill, and Briar and his mother were forced to work harder. Four years later, a rogue who had moved into the lordship caught Briar’s attention. Out of desperation, Briar begged this rogue man to help him. ___This rogue soon teaches Briar how to use a dagger defensively which gave him the bare necessities to protect himself and potentially others. Nevertheless, Briar continued to work in his father’s place to get as much coin as he could for his family. Only days after his recovery, the local guardsmen mishandled Briar’s father to the child’s dismay. Knowing he was powerless, Briar sought out the rogue to learn more. However, there was always a price to pay. In exchange for his strict loyalty to the rogue, he would bring Briar the ordnance he needed. Briar aided in menial labor for the rogue while simultaneously continuing to help his family. Then in the months following the winter solstice of 295 AC, Briar had to slay a guardsman who was drunkenly harassing his mother. He disposed of the corpse in a nearby ditch. ___Haphazard this job was for the guard captain who had discovered the corpse once the snow had all melted. The population within the peasant district of the lordship were put to questioning. A pair of innocents were lynched in hopes to force out the perpetrators, but Briar kept hushed. Full of more greed for power, Briar learned sorcery from the rogue. ___After spending a few more years within his village, Briar set off as a part of his pact with the rogue. Despite the fact that this pact appeared to be harmful for Briar’s wellbeing, the acts which Briar and the rest of this newfound rogue company would be for the greater good. Briar stayed with this band of knaves, finding his way to the capital city of Regalia in 309 AC.
