Heya! You must be thinking: another group thread? Well, yes! This one is, as the title implies, about the Qadir race and the art of clockwork engineering. I've been gathering a group in the background, but with all the other threads popping up, one for the Qadir does not seems like such a bad idea. If you could answer (some of) these questions, that would help a ton!

General questions before we start:
  • Are you currently playing a Qadir? Tell me about your experience so far!
  • Do you plan on making a Qadir in the future? If not, why?
  • Have you played a Qadir in the past? If so, why did you stop playing them?
  • What aspect of their culture do you like the most and the least?
  • How has your experience with Clockwork Engineering been so far, either as the creator or as the buyer?

Qadir Community Questions:
  • Would you be interested in joining a group surrounding Clockwork Engineering? Explain why (not)!
  • What are the kinds of activities you want to see this group doing? Focus more on the Clockwork aspect, or rather on festivals, magic even?
  • Are you as a (future?) Qadir player interested in seeing a centralised place for Worship? A continuous attempt to realise the Esrah Alwattah in Regalia?

Clockwork Specific Questions:
  • Would you like to see a centralised clockwork workshop (for any race to join)? A big building for all?
  • Would you be interested in having clockworks that are made by your characters explored in regalia and in progressions? For example, submitting a player quest to create new functional machinery, or doing it IG with a 'DM' overseeing it?
  • How do you see this workshop ran? Is there the elder that leads it (like in lore) Or is the most knowledgeable engineer the boss? A council, perhaps?
  • Would you like to see Engineers working closely together with Soul Mages? After all, most machinery is powered by Qatils with Soul Essence.

Lastly…
  • If you said no to making a Qadir/Clockwork character, is there any way we could change your mind? What would give the race more appeal in your eyes?

If you've got any further input that doesn't fall under any of the questions asked, don't be afraid to comment down below as well!

  • Do you plan on making a Qadir in the future? If not, why?
    • Yea, I love the race and I've been thinking on ways that I could take a concept for a Qadir I wanted to make in the future.
  • Have you played a Qadir in the past? If so, why did you stop playing them?
    • The appeal went down. Honestly, some of the clockwork things are nice but their usage is very restricted and limited.
  • How has your experience with Clockwork Engineering been so far, either as the creator or as the buyer?
    • Fun, I've been able to make some snippets of items for people as well as when I played a soul mage been able to buy Qatils from people which was an interesting development.
  • Would you be interested in joining a group surrounding Clockwork Engineering? Explain why (not)!
    • Yes! I'd love to see a group of people come together to make clockwork items and run a workshop together. It would be interesting to see all clockwork lovers come together in a group.
  • What are the kinds of activities you want to see this group doing? Focus more on the Clockwork aspect, or rather on festivals, magic even?
    • Workshop events to maybe build things or teach others to build things. Like perhaps a small event where they make small clockwork spiders or something of the like. Could likely even hold lectures on Qadir culture and clockwork items and their use.
  • Are you as a (future?) Qadir player interested in seeing a centralized place for Worship? A continuous attempt to realize the Esrah Alwattah in Regalia?
    • I think it would be nice to see more Qadir attached to their religion as religion is a big part of a culture. Lectures about this could also make for nice events.
  • Would you like to see a centralised clockwork workshop (for any race to join)? A big building for all?
    • Yes. I'd love to see people working together in a workshop to make new clockwork items and for that community just to come together. The workshop would be an interesting place for people to buy from as well and it would be a good place for construction rp.
  • Would you be interested in having clockworks that are made by your characters explored in regalia and in progressions? For example, submitting a player quest to create new functional machinery, or doing it IG with a 'DM' overseeing it?
    • Yes. There are very few clockwork items and I feel as though it would be nice to expand on them through in-game progressions. Even possibly expanding on the items we already have in the lore and find new uses for them.
  • How do you see this workshop ran? Is there the elder that leads it (like in lore) Or is the most knowledgeable engineer the boss? A council, perhaps?
    • I like the idea of a council.
  • Would you like to see Engineers working closely together with Soul Mages? After all, most machinery is powered by Qatils with Soul Essence.
    • YES. More than anything. I think it would also be a good goal for soul mages rather than just wandering around by themselves. Gives a good purpose to them.

General questions before we start:
  • Do you plan on making a Qadir in the future? If not, why?
YES. Work has/is consuming my time, but my hours should come back to a reasonable time soon, and I plan on making a few characters and one such one was a Qadir; I believe I mentioned something about being your granny at one point haha.
  • Have you played a Qadir in the past? If so, why did you stop playing them?
Yes, for a hot minute. The race had just been released and myself and some friends started a family, but they were more survival/faction focused and got bored, so I went back to playing whoever it was I was playing at the time.
  • What aspect of their culture do you like the most and the least?
The engineering is the most interesting aspect, as it opens up the lore to a whole new direction in regards to an Industrial Revolution. I would love to see a Victorian-eqsue Era hit Regalia through progressions. The least... not interesting per se, but explored aspect of the Qadir would have to be their religion. I rarely find characters who are zealous of their religion in Regalia versus other religions (Unionism, Estel, Void, Oldt Fayth, etc).
  • How has your experience with Clockwork Engineering been so far, either as the creator or as the buyer?
Rare. I think once, long ago, I had a character buy one of those mouse things before someone stepped on it.

Qadir Community Questions:
  • Would you be interested in joining a group surrounding Clockwork Engineering? Explain why (not)!
I think a guild of sorts would be a great idea!
  • What are the kinds of activities you want to see this group doing? Focus more on the Clockwork aspect, or rather on festivals, magic even?
Guild activities! Workshops, selling/buying, research (both magic and clockwork), and other guild activities.
  • Are you as a (future?) Qadir player interested in seeing a centralised place for Worship? A continuous attempt to realise the Esrah Alwattah in Regalia?
Yes! As one of the things I mentioned earlier as one of the least explored aspects of the Qadir culture, I think a centralized area for people o worship and preach would help bolster interest.

Clockwork Specific Questions:
  • Would you like to see a centralised clockwork workshop (for any race to join)? A big building for all?
A guild building, as mentioned earlier, would serve this function as well.
  • Would you be interested in having clockworks that are made by your characters explored in regalia and in progressions? For example, submitting a player quest to create new functional machinery, or doing it IG with a 'DM' overseeing it?
Yeet.
  • How do you see this workshop ran? Is there the elder that leads it (like in lore) Or is the most knowledgeable engineer the boss? A council, perhaps?
G U I L D. Perhaps a guild master and then a council that advises them, with members beneath them? A hierarchy would be established of course.
  • Would you like to see Engineers working closely together with Soul Mages? After all, most machinery is powered by Qatils with Soul Essence.
100%. Maybe have a special role for Soul Mages within this guild idea I keep blabbering about.

Are you currently playing a Qadir? Tell me about your experience so far!
Yes, I've been playing a Qadir for about 7-8 months now as my ever in trouble, Azra. She's become one of my most favorite characters since my bit on Massive. With her and her sneaky habits, I've gotten to explore a lot in the realm of deals with Arkens and gangs a plenty.

Have you played a Qadir in the past? If so, why did you stop playing them?
Nope, no one but Azra!

What aspect of their culture do you like the most and the least?
I like the fact that they're very technological compared to most races, with their knack for engineering. I don't really care that there isn't a whole lot in the terms of structure with traditions and stuff for Qadir though, as they're fairly nomadic.

How has your experience with Clockwork Engineering been so far, either as the creator or as the buyer?
Fun! It's been great to bribe people with engineered goods.

Would you be interested in joining a group surrounding Clockwork Engineering? Explain why (not)!
Of course! That's why I joined yours, Druppel.

What are the kinds of activities you want to see this group doing? Focus more on the Clockwork aspect, or rather on festivals, magic even?
I think it would be fun to explore the Qadir culture and maybe try to pull together different experiences from all the different Qadir in their walks of life to make something new that Regalian Qadir can celebrate such as a festival. I also think it would be interesting to expand on technology.

Are you as a (future?) Qadir player interested in seeing a centralised place for Worship? A continuous attempt to realise the Esrah Alwattah in Regalia?
I would love there to be more attention to Esrah Alwattah in Regalia, especially because I've always stuck with my own Qadir being a faithful follower, even with her limited knowledge on her religion.

Would you like to see a centralised clockwork workshop (for any race to join)? A big building for all?
Yes! I think that would be interesting to see. Maybe a building that had different sections for different units of metal crafts (engineering, smelting, etc), so that there can be a bit of a mixing pot. Like different large sections, but all in one building so people run into each other and communicate.

Would you be interested in having clockworks that are made by your characters explored in regalia and in progressions? For example, submitting a player quest to create new functional machinery, or doing it IG with a 'DM' overseeing it?

Yes! Please, this would be fantastic to see. I think with the option of both player quest or dm overseeing so that people with conflicting schedules can still have a chance.

How do you see this workshop ran? Is there the elder that leads it (like in lore) Or is the most knowledgeable engineer the boss? A council, perhaps?

I think a council with an elder in it might be an interesting way to do it so that it keeps like tradition/lore, while also having influence of more talented engineers.

Would you like to see Engineers working closely together with Soul Mages? After all, most machinery is powered by Qatils with Soul Essence.

Yes, this could be a place that soul mages could find legal work. Who knows, it could lead to people help both those lawful and on the more shadier side of things.

Personally, people are so afraid to innovate with Clockwork Engineering (In either laziness to ask Lore Staff if the creation is compatible or out of fear of getting yelled at for Lore incompatibility) that it's never used in things besides watches and music boxes.

  1. Yes! A very big building with a bunch of really visible clockwork contraptions in and out of it.
  2. Yes.
  3. Elder or a boss. I don't think there will be enough people for a council.
  4. Yes.

General Questions
  • Are you currently playing a Qadir? Tell me about your experience so far!
    • nope. used to, but lost interest due to lack of player interactions.
  • Do you plan on making a Qadir in the future? If not, why?
    • I would consider bringing them back
  • Have you played a Qadir in the past? If so, why did you stop playing them?
    • see first response
  • What aspect of their culture do you like the most and the least?
    • enjoy the Hadritya hierarchy and technology based religion. The lack of history pre Great Storm is the part I miss, since the Sariyd Empire was, an empire.
  • How has your experience with Clockwork Engineering been so far, either as the creator or as the buyer?
    • I used construct magic work spiders to get into places, but once there the extent of my maxed out profs and engrams resulted in selling, watches. I only sold three watches in the span of a week, those three watches being 3/5 of all shop interaction if I recall correctly. So I closed up shop when that progression hit since it felt like a good excuse to move on.
Qadir Community Questions:
  • Would you be interested in joining a group surrounding Clockwork Engineering? Explain why (not)!
    • It depends on the Qadir culture. Qadir Almae are more private than Marral, and with it comes cultural differences that can make or break relationships, even if it's all Qadir.
  • What are the kinds of activities you want to see this group doing? Focus more on the Clockwork aspect, or rather on festivals, magic even?
    • Qadir hate magic, so I would see more clockwork or the "anti-magic" use of Soul Essence.
  • Are you as a (future?) Qadir player interested in seeing a centralised place for Worship? A continuous attempt to realise the Esrah Alwattah in Regalia?
    • I think having a technological depository is the best route for anything related to Qadir faith, which is very passive an geared to the individual
Clockwork Specific Questions:
  • Would you like to see a centralised clockwork workshop (for any race to join)? A big building for all?
    • it would be nice, but I feel tinkering rp would be very niche and if anything it would just be an area to test out lore devices.
  • Would you be interested in having clockworks that are made by your characters explored in regalia and in progressions? For example, submitting a player quest to create new functional machinery, or doing it IG with a 'DM' overseeing it?
    • I'd be down for progression exploration, with IG being just showcases of it.
  • How do you see this workshop ran? Is there the elder that leads it (like in lore) Or is the most knowledgeable engineer the boss? A council, perhaps?
    • Maybe just a building 'steward' and everyone is on equal groups. You work together or alone on projects based on how much you want out of the group.
  • Would you like to see Engineers working closely together with Soul Mages? After all, most machinery is powered by Qatils with Soul Essence.
    • naturally, though it might be beneficial to try and change the concept of "soul magic" to not sound so magical and counter intuitive to Qadir dismissal of magic.
Lastly…
  • If you said no to making a Qadir/Clockwork character, is there any way we could change your mind? What would give the race more appeal in your eyes?
    • I'd probably return if I had more time/interest and there was more public awareness of Qadir tech, as well as general approval of it. It did help in reclaiming our vassal states from the Bone Horrors, yet everyone has forgotten about that.

General questions before we start:
  • Are you currently playing a Qadir? Tell me about your experience so far!
    • I haven't played a Qadir outside of throwaways yet, but the experiences were great nonetheless. I enjoyed my short time with them thoroughly.
  • Do you plan on making a Qadir in the future? If not, why?
    • I might plan on making one in the future, once I find out how to multitask and play more than a single character actively.
  • Have you played a Qadir in the past? If so, why did you stop playing them?
    • Just throwaways which were only for events, therefore only lasting a day or two.
  • What aspect of their culture do you like the most and the least?
    • The Economy and Technology part is what I find the most interesting. It shows their efficiency in what they do best: Clockwork. This is what makes them stand out from other races, what really makes them special. In my opinion it is something that cannot be replaced or left out. The least interesting however is, nothing in particular - but, the whole wiki page could use a few more add-ons in regards of History/ Society. They seem a bit lacking in comparison with other races.
  • How has your experience with Clockwork Engineering been so far, either as the creator or as the buyer?
    • So far I've always been a buyer in regards to Clockwork, and I have to say that it is both enjoyable and useful. It helped my characters out more than just once - in pretty much everything. It might've been a deal with an Arken or just for mere defence. It has proven to be useful in various aspects of my roleplay. Even smaller ideas, for example owning a pocket watch have proven to create fun roleplay here and there, but in the end it just depends on what you make out of it.

Qadir Community Questions:

  • Would you be interested in joining a group surrounding Clockwork Engineering? Explain why (not)!
    • Definitely. Together in a group one could work more efficient than alone one would alone. People who share the same interest are then all brought onto the same boat, which in my opinion makes a good entrance for interesting roleplay.
  • What are the kinds of activities you want to see this group doing? Focus more on the Clockwork aspect, or rather on festivals, magic even?
    • More of a background group that however takes a big part in larger progressions. I'd like to see them come up with Clockwork ideas that maybe later could get added into the current Lore, for example design a weapon to help out in the next upcoming war, or something that could fight against the mist in Anglia. They could work as a shop for anyone, for those interested in buying smaller technologies, and for those of nobility who seek to invent new stuff with the help of Clockwork for their own advantage. For example if the group were to invent something new, such technology could be tested in the public and turned into an event anyone could attend.
  • Are you as a (future?) Qadir player interested in seeing a centralised place for Worship? A continuous attempt to realise the Esrah Alwattah in Regalia?
    • It'd be worth a try to have it become an accepted religion in Regalia, but I'd definitely be interested.

Clockwork Specific Questions:

  • Would you like to see a centralised clockwork workshop (for any race to join)? A big building for all?
    • Yes. The previous workshops only had one or two workers, therefore not much activity existed - but if it were to be a larger group I could see it become a hotspot of roleplay for whenever workers are near.
  • Would you be interested in having clockworks that are made by your characters explored in regalia and in progressions? For example, submitting a player quest to create new functional machinery, or doing it IG with a 'DM' overseeing it?
    • That sounds like a neat idea.
  • How do you see this workshop ran? Is there the elder that leads it (like in lore) Or is the most knowledgeable engineer the boss? A council, perhaps?
    • I think the most innovative worker should get a chance to become their leader, the one that brought up the whole idea of this - and it's their turn to make the workshop turn out to be great. It doesn't need an elder in lore.
  • Would you like to see Engineers working closely together with Soul Mages? After all, most machinery is powered by Qatils with Soul Essence.
    • With Magic soon being more open than before, I'd say yes. They should team up with some willing Soul Mages to cooperate and make the best out of it.
