As the fall season begins, the Courts must adjust their fashions accordingly. We must also acknowledge and honor those who boldly showcased and embraced the styles of the past Summer, as well as recognize those who so boorishly did not.

Requests for accommodation can also be penned in to the Mistress of Hotiers, but only in particular circumstances where dressing in current fashions is inadvisable or impossible, such as injury, deformity, or pregnancy. These circumstances must be laid out and argued, and should a request be approved, a solution that is safe and satisfactory for both parties will be agreed upon.

Everything listed on this announcement will be in fashion until the next code’s release. Hot fashions may come and go within this time to add new things, but nothing on this announcement will be pulled during the fall season.

    〚 ◈┇ ══════ - ‹ •◦ ◦• › - ══════ ┇◈ 〛
    • ɢᴇɴᴇʀᴀʟ ғᴀsʜɪᴏɴ
      • Warm colors are in hot fashion, especially crimsons, burgundies, and tangerines. Navy is also in hot fashion for a bit of a cooler tone if the warm colors don’t agree with complexion.
      • Capes and cloaks are in hot fashion. These may take the form of cloth wraps, shoulder capes, floor-length capes, or simply to the elbows, as long as they are present. Hoods are allowed, but may only be ‘up’ during rain or similar weather. To wear a hood ‘up’ any other time would suggest shame or hiding.
        • Please remember that capes of ermine fur and satin are reserved to those carrying Electoral title only in accordance with Conduces. Any who wear ermine fur and satin specifically without holding such rank will be assumed to be intensely arrogant and self-important and will be asked to discard the cape or otherwise leave the engagement.
      • Materials such as silks and satins are hot fashion. They should be tight-fitting; curves should be hugged and assets accentuated, but they should also be covered.
        • Leg slits and low necklines, while not entirely out of fashion, cannot bare as much skin as was fashionable in the summer. A modest amount of skin may be shown if both are elected for a dress; but if one is to be daring, the other must be covered.
          • For example, a high leg slit must not also have an incredibly large dip in the neckline. To do so is showing far too much skin for fall and can result in ejection from the Imperial Progress for impropriety.
      • Accessories remain hot fashion. They can be either gold or silver, but you may not wear both: an exception is made for wedding bands, family signets, or otherwise important rings. All other jewelry must match thematically and/or in metal chosen. Of particular note are dangling earrings - the more intricate and bejeweled, the better.
      • Hats are in fashion. These can be sun hats, berets, top hats, et cetera, but cannot cover the facial features. For women, hats must not give the impression that a lady has done nothing sans wear a hat - their hair must be done appropriately to match with it.
      • Fans are fashionable and are hot specifically for the Souvereine code. See the Souvereine section for information on fans.
      • Women should aim to have their hair done in some way, shape, or form - half-up half-down, braided, tucked into a bun or otherwise managed. A woman should never seem as if she had just rolled from bed and into the Court, or else insult both herself and the Court.
      • Men should aim to have facial hair closely cropped and trimmed, save for a mustache. Beards are encouraged but must be well taken care of, with no exceptions. Military-styled cuts are fashionable to indicate support for the Military and its endeavors, but are not a requirement.
      • Members of the Marshalry Cabinet or Military at large must not be seen solely within the military uniforms. The Imperial Court recognizes the hard work and diligent effort of the Military, but its members must wear other clothing at least fifty percent of the time that they engage with others of the Peerage. Being part of the military does not exempt anyone from Hotiers requirements. Anyone who continues to solely wear military uniforms (i.e. a hundred percent of the time) will be condemned by the Mistress of Hotiers in accordance with the position’s responsibilities.
      • House Colors are hereby defined to be shades included on a House’s cresting or decoration. Black and white are excluded from consideration as House Colors for Imperial fashioned outfits only and otherwise must comply with the thirty percent rule if used as the main color (House Colors may be worn thirty percent of the time if other colors make up a sufficient seventy percent of the time). Other shades of House Colors, as long as they are clearly different than the specific House Color, are allowed. Black/white are always allowed as accent colors.
        • For example, House Cadieux’s colors are cerulean blue and ivy green. Members of House Cadieux may wear non-cerulean shades of blue like navy and sapphire, and non-ivy shades of green like mint and emerald, but cannot wear specific cerulean and ivy green clothing outside of the thirty percent allowed.
      • Servants, Palests, and House Guards brought to events or the Imperial Progress should be dressed in accordance with Hotiers. Unless the noble escorting them says otherwise, Servants, Palests, and House Guards should dress in Core and General fashion.
    • ᴄᴏʀᴇ ғᴀsʜɪᴏɴ
      • Well-fitting clothing with higher collars is in hot fashion for men. Any cape or cloth wrapping must not obscure the man’s figure in any way, shape, or form, or else it can be assumed the man is not proud of his physique. Collars can be detailed with engraving in gold or silver thread, and brooches should be pinned over the heart. These brooches should depict something that isn’t his House Crest but is still meaningful to the man (hence its positioning).
      • Dresses or accessories that highlight a woman’s shoulders are in hot fashion. These can be military-styled pauldrons, jewels that sit above or secure a cape or simply embroidered sleeves around the shoulder area. If a gold or silver piece across the chest is used to secure a cape, then a necklace should not be worn as to not clutter the neckline.
      • Belts and waist-cinching sashes are in hot fashion for men. These can be as simple as a sash tied, or as elaborate as a leather-or-fabric item with engravings or embroidery and gold or silver embellishments along its length.
      • Elbow- or mid-forearm-high opera gloves specifically of the Mousquetaire style are in hot fashion for women. These should be neutrally colored, with black reserved for dark or quite bright outfits, and secured at the top edges with silk or satin ribbon, an embroidered sort of tie, or a gold or silver armband. Women wearing these gloves may bare their hands only by unbuttoning the three clasps at the wrist and tucking the fingers and palm of the glove within; to take these gloves off fully outside of the home is uncouth unless done as part of a courtship ritual. Hands may only be bared when wearing gloves during dining. These gloves should only be worn with short-sleeved or sleeveless dresses due to their length. Long sleeves do not necessarily require gloves; it is up to the woman’s discretion on if wrist-gloves should be worn.
      • Women should endeavor to ornament their hair and outfits with silks of some sort. These may be tied around the waist, used to keep gloves high, or tied around the chin and set behind any hair allowed to fall into the face, and then drawn over a bun, or hair that has been curled and tended to in accordance with the general Hotiers expectation of women’s hair.
    • ᴄᴀʟᴇᴍʙᴇʀɢᴇʀ ғᴀsʜɪᴏɴ
      • Men may wear decorative and/or ceremonial chest plates, but not any other sort of armor. These chest plates may have medals, should any be won, displayed on a shoulder-cape set on the left shoulder (right when viewing) to show them close to the heart, if it isn’t possible to layer them over the heart.
      • Wide bell sleeves are in hot fashion for women. The edges can either be embroidered, trimmed, or lace-lined, but cannot be simply left as a plain edge.
      • Knee-high riding boots are in hot fashion for men. They may be plain if the rest of the outfit is sufficiently detailed, but it is recommended to have a buckle or other accent on said boots.
      • Layered dresses are in hot fashion for women. This may be a layered, ruffled skirt or a form-fitting dress that has layering at the knees, as long as layers are incorporated in some sort. If the outfit is not a dress, then layered sleeves or pants before the higher boot will be fine.
      • Griffer style is still in fashion for women. The ties around the wrists of the gloves should be made of silk or lace, or if bracelets are used, should be engraved to tell some sort of story via scene.
      • Women should endeavor to ornament their hair and outfits with specifically filigreed items- hairpins, clips, or headbands, among others. These should be bejeweled where available.
    • sᴏᴜᴠᴇʀᴇɪɴᴇ ғᴀsʜɪᴏɴ
      • Loosely sleeved but tightly bodiced shirts cinched at the waist are in hot fashion for men. The sleeves may be either tightened to the wrist or the elbow, or open and hanging at either the wrist or elbow, but must have some sort of looseness component. The chests may be slightly opened through the use of laces or buttons, and a vest layered over is encouraged. The vest, should the chest be chosen to be shown, should also be opened, or should be high-collared if not.
      • Lace and netting are in hot fashion for women. Thick lace may be used to obscure skin in accordance with the general fashion’s rules on skin bared. Tight-fitting lace sleeves are encouraged, as well as dressing a dress or shirt’s edge in lace.
      • Statement neckpieces are in hot fashion for men. These should be layered over the shirts and vests, but under any capes or cloaks that are worn. These can be either jeweled or engraved, and can optionally have dangling jewels across the chest.
      • Thigh-high boots are in hot fashion for women. These boots may be accompanied by either long pants tucked under the tops of the boots, shorter skirts that show the tops of the boots (though the inch or so of skin bared must be lace-covered), or shorts, so long as they also cover the inch or so of skin bared with lace. All skirts, shorts, or pants that are included with outfits using thigh-high boots must be high-waisted.
      • Women should carry folding fans, given that they are allowed to gesture with them, and are hot fashion. These fans should be embroidered or painted to show a scene, animal, object, or item of some sort, but cannot depict a House Crest. Additional decorations along the sides of the fan or on the strap are highly encouraged. Fans should be made of wood, ivory, or tortoiseshell and of either silk or fine parchment, and should be hung from a lady’s skirt or belt loops when not carried in-hand.
      • All adherents to the Souvereine Code should endeavor to ornament their hair and outfits with jewels or engraved pieces that reference their House Sigil Animals or symbols depicted on the Crest, both past and present. For instance, House Avalorn may wear the eight-pointed star of their House, while House Delmotte may wear the Quinotaur or flame-inspired pieces in a nod to its former crest. These jewels may be necklaces, armbands, hairpins, hair clips, circlets, bracelets, the priorly mentioned statement neckpieces for men, or earrings, but are not limited to the above listing.

    ᴄᴏᴍᴍᴇɴᴅᴀᴛɪᴏɴs

These listed individuals have modeled the Hotier fashions exquisitely. Each commended individual will receive an individualized reward pending a meeting or letter exchange with the Mistress of Hotiers.
    -
Prince-Elector Markus of the House Delmotte.
Viscountess Novellia of the House Reinard.
Lady Haeddi of the House Harhold.
Lord Julius of the House du Vicieux.
Sir Amory of the House Kreiburg.

    ᴄᴏɴᴅᴇᴍɴᴀᴛɪᴏɴs

These listed individuals have not adapted to the Hotier fashions in a satisfactory manner.
    -
Lord Klaus of the House Typhonus.
Sir Alaric of the House Kreiburg.
Sir Gerard of the House Kreiburg.
Sir Tehrathel of the House Avalorn.
Sir Merdoc of the House Slumberwood.

The Mistress of Hotiers sees it fit to remind Sir Tehrathel of the House Avalorn specifically that he is of the Souvereine Code; he has not followed any of the hot fashion guidelines, whether for his Code or otherwise, and is thus in flagrant violation of Conduces, which clearly states:

“All nobles must wear clothing as set out by the Court Hotier in terms of how much skin is permitted to be seen, and what styles are banned. In addition to the Core rules, all [Souvereine] nobles who do not follow the Court Hotier’s monthly high fashion are in violation of this rule.”

Any Souvereine Code followers must be representative of at least one “hot” trend, whether it be for their own Code or General.

    OOC:
The grace period for transitioning out of summer fashion/into fall fashion ends on October 1. That allows just under two weeks for skin edits, commissions, and the like to be done. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you can DM me over Discord or arrange a meeting with Milena ICly and we’ll figure something out for you! If you can’t get new skins, we can figure out how to get the ones you currently have in line with fashion codes.

Core gloves are an actual thing - you can read up on it here for notes on etiquette, dresses to wear them with, or colors.

If you’re Souvereine, you need to have at least one “hot” trending thing on your skin, or emote it during a scene for the harder to skin things. I won’t call out or punish you if you don’t have more than one - some of these things might clash or won’t fit on the same fit together - but you do need to have at least one thing.

I also have a Pinterest board of Fall Hotiers inspiration here to give ‘vibe’ ideas. If you’re struggling with what to wear or commission, let me know!
