Astara was raised in a small town in Essalonia. Their family were not the kindest to them not fully understanding how to handle them when they were emotionally vulnerable, and making things worse rather than better. The constant insults and taunting would cause anyone to crack For the sake of their own sanity, they decided to leave as soon as they hit adulthood. When they were thirteen, they were attacked by a mysterious group. To this day they do not know if this group was human, monster, or perhaps both.
After the attack, they were left unable to physically walk without support. They took the time to try and learn basic combat as self defence, in case something like this happened again. After recovering, and dealing with the emotional pain and fear they felt, Astara's relationship with their family reached breaking point, and was beyond reconciliation.
Astara always loved to help people heal, and so decided to go to school and study to become a qualified doctor and therapist. As well as learning medicine, they also took a shine to alchemy, and used it in their studies to help their patients. During their schooling years, they also took the opportunity to explore their hobbies and talents. Astara loves to dance, despite not having the physical capabilities to do it properly, and has a natural talent for the lyre. They also learned basic sewing and fabric work, and now take pride in the fact they can grow and maintain a herb garden for their medicines.
When they graduated, they headed to Regalia for a new life and a new challenge, hoping to offer kind words and a friendly face to those who needed it. They are always around with some bandages and a hot chocolate. They sometimes still need to use their walking stick to support themselves around the city, since they can't push themselves too far physically.
Astara is not one to be easily manipulated or fooled. However, if the time comes when there is a cause that truly needs their help, they will answer the call. After all, who are they to judge what some deem a necessary action?
