Life Story Birth & Childhood Aeralaanis Rhyluevayas is born in late December, in the 199th year of what would become the Grandening era of Allorn history. Despite his parents being married mundane Altalar, his father is the Regnance Arken and Aeralaanis an Exist Silven. - He records much of what he sees around him, with a great affinity for history and respect for the necessity of documents and papers for future generations, seemingly holding an innate sense for matters of the past and the bygone eras. Adolescence & Teenage Years Aeralaanis studies heavily into the history of the Allorn Empire and the known world under expert Altalar scholars; he researches heavily into the Awakening and Consolidation eras, and in so doing discovers an affinity for language and linguistics, dedicating considerable time to learning languages. In particular, he focuses on the Altalar languages, developing eventually into a functioning knowledge of the Twi’ Dialects and Ancient Altalar. - Alongside this, his studies extend to the magical, gaining a burgeoning interest in the unique abilities of other races. Similarly, he reads up on dimensional theory, building an understanding of the Void and Exist realms and how they affect the world. - Finally, at the end of his adolescence, Aeralaanis ventures out on his Year of the Bright Star; he chooses Ellea as his patron, seeing the maintenance of continuity and the natural order as paramount in his role as a historian and scholar. Early Adulthood Aeralaanis proceeds to live out his life normally, marrying and creating numerous children. He lives happily, until the point at which any Altalar should begin to age. He presumes, at first, that his youth may prevail for a number of years before finally fading. His presumption is wrong; Aeralaanis outlives his wife and children, seemingly ageless and immortal. He dives into his studies to distract himself, keeping a close eye on his descendants nevertheless. - In the meantime, Aeralaanis records and observes as time passes; the Grandening era passes into the Blossoming, and he observes the results of Archmages stripping Estel of her strength. He is unable to participate in such activities himself, but is still aware of what is occurring, as well as the grasping fingers of the Archmages into Allorn politics. - As more time passes, he witnesses the fall of Allorn society. From flagrant aristocratic depravity, to rampant overpopulation, to bureaucratic corruption at the hands of Archmages, the effects of absolute power become ever more obvious to him. He sees the horrors of war, especially of war encouraged by those who would use magic solely for personal gain. - Soon after the end of the Mage Wars, he is made painfully aware of the consequences of such widespread, wholesale misuse of magical power, as the Veil tears open above Drowda and spews demonic horrors out into the world. Stories leak back to his home in Grae Rie, of the frequent breaking of ranks, infighting, and general disorder among the Empress’ war host, and quickly following, the host’s destruction. - In 0AC, the Cataclysm occurs and with it, the Wildering. Fortunately, Aeralaanis avoids death at the hands of the encroaching wilds, fleeing with the most valuable of his tomes and belongings to what would have been safe regions, had the Scalay prince infighting and Orcish invasions not occurred immediately after the Wildering. He continues to move around, narrowly avoiding the growing Dread Empire to the west of the remaining Principalities. Later Adulthood Aeralaanis, now speaking Modern Altalar, sees what the world has become in the century following the Wildering. Although still a staunch Allorn nationalist, he recognises the damage that has been done, and the results of misuse of Magic. He spends time among the fledgeling Cielothar, learning of their ways and newfound Ritualism, as well as venturing out into Ailor settlements in Daen to see what the once-enslaved race has become in the absence of the Highborne overlords, learning their tongue in order to better communicate. - He keeps a keen eye on conflicts to the west, uncomfortably aware of the Kathar threat, as well as on matters of the other Nelfin subraces that had spawned from the Fracture of the Allorn. He sees the Avanthar, Isldar, and Cielothar as redeemable to an extent, but the likes of Kathar and Sihndar as beyond the point of recovery. - The next centuries pass quickly for him; he watches on as the Maraya establish a presence in Aloria, claiming to be a race predating even the Altalar, observes the gradual growth of the Regalian Empire, and bears witness to the recovery of the Altalar Principalities, eventually returning to Grae Rie. Fortunately, a number of his descendants still survive, whom he takes to watching over, alongside putting effort towards learning the language of not only the Maraya, but also the Ithanians, descended from the peacefully overthrown Principalities. - Aeralaanys is awash with disappointment in the final decades of the second century, post-Cataclysm, as the Ranger Crisis occurs and Regalian-Altalar relations break down. Beginning in the third century AC, he takes a greater interest in the Regalians as the Elven War of 302AC occurs and the Regalians deliver a resounding defeat to the northern Principalities. - He heads to the Regalian capital soon after, settling in for the long haul as he has so many times before. He experiences the numerous events that plague the City of Light soon after; the Songaskian and Deathling Occupations, the Dragon Crisis, and more recently, more aggressive Regalian moves against Mages and Silven alike within the city. - The most recent months of Aeralaanys’ life have seen his desire to represent his people create the Altalaan Conclave and butt heads with Kathar cells and even other Altalar who he believes sully their heritage, alongside considerable involvement in the Kathar War in Daen, especially in Merkar’sarh. - Outside of Merkar'sarh, Aeralaanys fights the Silver Tear Paladin alongside Joasaie Lloablen and in the process is struck by a bolt of blood magic, shattering his staff, Callandor, paralysing his right arm, and utterly wiping magic from his body. Only the future may tell what comes for him.
