    Ascal Ossvanzul Helsaryth
Ascal Liezüllo - Zefal, Ascië, A**
    Basic Information:
    • Age: 74
      • Born April 25, 232 A.C.
    • Gender: Male
    • Race: ½ Mëdorr ½ Käyth Kathar. Culturally identifies as Mëdorr.
    • Sexuality: Bisexual
    • Family: [X]
    Visual Information
    • Eye Color: Pale blue irises, black sclerae from inking.
    • Hair Color: Dyed black, naturally silvery white.
    • Hair Style: Long and straight, down past the center of his back. Often braided.
    • Skin Color: Grey and absolutely bloodless, heavily tattooed
    • Clothing: Simple and Nelfin in nature. Reflecting his culture in the warmer months.
    • Height: 6 feet 8 inches, 203 cm, 80 inches
    • Body Build: Sinewy in shape, though athletic in build.
    Body:
The Kathar stands at 6 feet 8 inches and with an athletic build, but with lanky proportions. The Nelfin has very little body fat and so appears more cut. Ascal’s body features several muted blue tattoos engulfing the entirety of his arms including his hands. The pattern crosses over his chest and back only going so far down as the bottom of his ribcage. The design is of repeating geometric patterns, notes of Void Script, and his family name. Like most Nelfin, he has a hard time growing hair that isn’t on his head, and so his body hardly features any.
    Face:
Ascal’s face, unlike his body, is devoid of any ink save for creeping patterns caressing his neck. Par for the course of being of Mëdorr blood, his facial features are very sharp and striking although not off-putting. Overall, this man does not look in the slightest welcoming with a resting scowl of a condescending and ill-willed soul. His face features a diamond shape, Roman nose, high cheekbones and a defined jaw, even more so with the introduction of Bone Singing to grand him artificial Mëdorr ridges. Bone Singing has also further made his appearance threatening through the sharpening of his teeth, forming something of eight carnivorous canines instead of the normal four humanoid ones. To further replicate what traits he feels were stolen from him, Ascal has undergone scleral tattooing.
    Vocal:
Ascal uses a thick Elven accent, without the respect of the Ailor culture to speak "correctly"; he knows very well how to correct his accent and can, but chooses not to for the sake of comfort. The old elf speaks with a heavy and rich voice, his words firm and controlled in tone. Rarely does he ever deviate from this way of speaking as he rarely chooses to raise his voice. When he does, it is with great urgency and a powerful voice to cut through the idle chatter of a crowd. When he isn’t yelling at the top of his lungs, his voice is a pleasant and warming one to hear, although in certain circumstances can become deeply unsettling.

    Body Shape:
    • Physical Stat : 30 + (20 x 2) = 70
    • Body Shape: Athletic (15 Stat)
    • Body Fat: Extreme Low Fat
    Languages:
    • Modern Elven: Native language and preferred speech.
    • She’llaq: Close ties to religious practice.
    • Imperial Elven: Learned from hired mentor for diplomatic reasons; pretty firm grasp.
    • Common: Learned in haste of suddenly being tossed into Regalia, the Kathar suffers a poor accent. Although he knows how to right himself, he rarely puts in the effort to.
    Personality:

Casual Acquaintances | Firm, Controlled, Teasing
Ascal comes off as a controlled and restrictive individual. His words are thought out and nor does he ever stutter or seem unsure of them. He is difficult to goad into a fight and chooses not to most of the time as he views conflict without reason as barbaric and a cause for embarrassment. When he is free to act of his own accord the Kathar can show traits of being extremely callous and a borderline sociopath in the strictly medical sense of the word. This trait of his is built up as a survival tactic, as Ascal is able to easily distance himself from his actions. He is very good at feigning a sense of empathy for those he cares nothing about and goes the extra mile for people in need as long as people are watching. He jokes and prods at others, finds it amusing to yank people far out of their comfort zone, and enjoys the company of others. His mind is in constant need of stimulation be it through counting, learning, reading, exercise, etc. Left to sit and do nothing for too long, Ascal might begin to grow uncomfortable and fidget. This is not so much a bad thing and can be construed as serving him well in some instances.

Inner Feelings | Intelligent, Equalizing, Cynical
Ascal is very certain of himself, though not to the point of being stupid or reckless. He knows when he can win, and most of the time knows when to run. That being said, Ascal is not what you would call the traditional narcissist as one might see him as being. He does not put himself above others (most of the time), rather he drags everyone down with him to the same level. Ascal believes all are highly self-serving beasts; some are just more open about it than others. He feels he does justice in making those who tout themselves as higher than he or his race shrivel, something he has carried since he was a young boy.

Loved Ones | Attentive, Family-Oriented, Strict Guardian
Ascal can be a very warm and thoughtful man. He offers honest advice and stacks up to be a generally good friend to those who make it this far into his personal life. He is a very attentive and watchful eye for those he holds dear, going the extra mile to be sure they are safe and well. Whether he realizes it or not, he can be very affectionate, especially toward lovers. He has heightened patience for those people who he considers close enough and does not stay upset with them for long under most circumstances. He holds onto those he has now greatly and would hate to see any of his children go without guidance. He ultimately cares less about whether his offspring like him or not, and more about raising them to be the most efficient, most successful beings possible.

    Morality | Callous, Sadistic, Amoral
His morality is simple in that he has no problem taking someone’s life should they wrong him, his loved ones, somehow interfere with his career, or even threaten to; this man will revel in doing so. He hardly has limits in way of cruelty should he deem the circumstance worthy. At the same time, it will not be his aim to kill anyone and depending on the circumstance will avoid doing so. While he does not go out of his way to be a criminal, Ascal tends to disregard the law if he can get away with it. As far as turning anyone in, he is unlikely to unless he either holds a distaste for the person, or in doing it helps him somehow. Like most Kathar, there is at heart no honest empathy for the majority of folks around him. The main reason he may limit his actions is to save his own arse or make it look good.

    Likes
    • Scaring Others: This is a trait he shares with his father he’s yet to meet; he loves to inspire sudden shock or lasting dread within others. His aberrancy is only a help in this pursuit as he is not only a Kathar, but a mutant. If this man finds that someone is uncomfortable, he is likely to double down on that if he can get away with it. Even with friends and loved ones, he can sometimes go overboard without meaning to. At times, he does not know where to stop.
    • Body Modification Enthusiast: Ascal has spent a fair amount of time practicing in the art of body modification including tattoos, scarification, and piercings. He began to pick up this hobby from his companionship with a Yanar artist, and continues to practice his at times gruesome art in Regalia. As a result, the Kathar has become exceptionally skilled and is a hand to be trusted in these things so permanent.
    • Pastries: The man really likes his pastries. What more is there to say? Since being reintroduced to eating freely in Regalia, Ascal as developed a much more varied taste in response to the sudden explosion of cultures he has been exposed to. This has resulted in a sort of sweet-tooth of his that he finds difficult to resist.
    Dislikes
    • Geese/Swans: These beautiful yet furiously territorial water fowls have made it onto Ascal's sh!t list from an early age. Pretty as they may be, a young Ascal found himself too entranced one fateful afternoon, leading to many scars and many-a laughing relative.
    • Alcohol: Due to his weakness described below, Ascal avoids the consumption of alcohol as much as possible. Simply the smell of it is enough to make him uncomfortable. This can make it awkward for him to function in social settings when it is especially expected of him to drink. When asked, he simply reasons that he does not react well with alcohol and allows the inquirer to interpret that as they wish.

    Constant anxiety over being drugged:
His keeper's punishments while in slavery included strictly psychological only torments to leave indefinite inner scars. These punishments often included drugging and isolation in dark rooms, which continue to resonate with the former captive of war. This has resulted in an intense and incredibly overbearing fear of possibly being drugged. No matter its irrationality, Ascal has a hard time accepting drinks and food from those around him, including vendors aside from a trusted few. This anxiety has also bred a fear of alcoholic beverages, recreational drugs, or even certain medications. Due to his paranoia in these circumstances, it may only take him thinking he was drugged to call upon symptoms of panic let alone actually being drugged with something. The issue is all in his head; it doesn't matter if the substance is harmless. He's always the first to suspect something isn't right.

    Height:
This elf of 6 foot 8 inches does not find it easy nor comfortable living in a society where the average height of a man is 5’11”. From slamming his head on unfamiliar door frames to tripping over opponents, this can be a handicap in itself. When pitted against someone short enough in melee combat, he can become clumsy, especially in close range.

    Cat Allergy:
The poor man gets the sniffles from cat dander. All there is to it, really. Slightly annoying.

    • Síladis Helsaryth: A close friend and fellow Kalthar new to the world outside of the Dread Empire. Over time they had drawn close and have married.@MadamAries
    • Nevarth Helsaryth: One of Ascal’s biological sons and the 3rd eldest. @PuffyPigeon
    • Eldewis Helsaryth: His wife’s daughter, and his step-daughter.
    • Himeldir Helsaryth: His wife’s son, and his step-son. @brooke_stinks
    • Venkalth Helsaryth: One of Ascal’s biological sons and the 4th eldest.
    • Aravae Helsaryth: Ascal's youngest biological daughter.

    Life Story:

    Birth - 10 Years
Ascal Ossvanzul Helsaryth is born to a well-off family, son to Ashrian and Joczyll Helsaryth; a Mëdorr clanswoman and Käyth clansman respectively. Ascië is one within many litters the Helsaryth family possesses, half siblings from multiple mothers and fathers as he lives in a polyamorous and as a result large household. His father is a Shenath Warlord of the Dread Empire's naval force, and his mother, a Saivale General. He and his older sister hardly look like that of the Mëdorr blood they possess, something Ascal resents. From a young age, the mud-blood is taught essential military discipline along with his siblings. There is a lack of general sensitivity within the household, but Ascal is raised with a strong sense of family togetherness and Mëdorr Kathar tradition with important Käyth lessons. As his parents are often off elsewhere, he is taken care of by older siblings and retired relatives. Still though, the militaristic and stoic mindset is well and deeply ingrained in the child.

    10 - 18 Years

Ascal begins his teachings along with his older siblings in combat and survival in the Void-twisted wild environment that surround their home. They go about on outdoor excursions, guided by the older and better experienced adults and teenagers. Ascal grows into one of these experienced teenagers, Mëdorr blood shining through in his staggering height and pale skin, and as soon as possible enlists himself into the Dread Empire's military force. It is around the age sixteen where Ascal has his skull painfully Bonesung to resemble the Mëdorr ridges, afterword maybe less than honest of their artificial origin; he also attains scleral inking

    18 - 30 Years

His mind grows less focused on the aesthetic though, as his military career progresses. He becomes a proficient ground troop, earning the favor of his superiors. The clansman does his high-ranking relatives proud in spite of illness or health. The young man puts his mind into education and learning to be a well tactician, constantly at war with the Altalar who dare preach their Exist. Ascal becomes heavily invested in the teachings of Void Worship, holding The Void Prefect of Power close to heart. This is around the time where Ascal gets his tattoos done in a moment of merriment, himself and the working tattoo artist flushed into oblivion with opiates as per tradition.

    30 - 50 Years

Eventually the man finds himself married and with offspring of his own. He develops a hobby in body modification, becoming good friends with the artist who gave him his own. During a scouting mission, Ascal is captured as a prisoner of war by Drowdar forces due to some oversights. He and several others are terrifically tortured as they are forced to divulge information and renounce their gods. Curiously, instead of doing any real physical harm, the Drowdar use means of strictly physiological torment for the months they are kept away from home as prisoners of war. The Kathar are kept isolated and risk being drugged when they bring themselves to nourish their weakened bodies on what is given. As a man can only take so much, Ascal loses it and does what he's told eventually. Alas, the promise of being released is hallow, and he's kept to be further tormented and put to work. It is assumed the sent out scouts are not well after there is no reports of return or indication of their actions given. More, better suited troops are sent after them and before long are met with their Drowdar captors within the camp. The few Drowdar present are promptly slaughtered, their belongings looted, and those surviving troops including Ascal are recovered; the group rush off before reinforcements appear. His superiors, unbeknownst to the impertinent information divulged, discharge him as he recovers from the event. He is brought back to his family harshly traumatized and recovering from various injuries along with malnourishment. His family tends to his needs as he struggles to bounce back, riddled with grief and trauma. After this struggle draws for too long, Ascal is found unfit for further service and is permanently discharged.

    50 - Present

Ascal's children grown and on their own, he hasn't aged a day. He and his only wife drift apart, and they finally end up separate. The clansman, while he hasn't fully come to terms with certain happenings, is able to move on with his life. With the supposed existence of this Regalian "Empire" run by loose slaves coming into his consciousness, he sets his sights toward it in hopes to investigate himself. With his military career within the Dread Empire taken from him, he plans his own excursion over. Albeit, with poor planning as he knows next to nothing of the environment other than the abundance of Humans. To say the least, the Kathar is stranged to nearly every aspect of it, right down to the language. After a few good and educational arrests, the foreigner is wise to the social customs and expectations of the Unionist Ailor. He finds his current wife, and the two work together in trying to understand their new home and growing together as people.

    @PuffyPigeon
Hi, sunshine, sorry for the delay in review!

    • Void mutations/Vilitatei are no longer lore compliant. Please remove the horn mutation and mentions of it in his lifestory.
    • Goad, not goat.
Make these changes in blue and tag me when you're done.
