Something I've been wondering for a while is whether or not cactus are lore-compliant. In real life, cactus are native only to the Americas, where the deserts are more rocky and earthy. The constantly shifting sandy hills of the African/Arabian deserts aren't stable enough for most plants to anchor themselves. Since Farah'deen is probably like that, cactus probably wouldn't grow there. I figure cactus, like real life, would probably be found in the west, in other words in Ithania.

So that makes me wonder, what's the Ithanian desert like? Is it the same as Faradh where there are sand dunes blowing in the wind, or is more like the Americas, rocky and earthy? Are cactus lore compliant?

I'd assume so, as the old Orc yanar lore used to have similar properties to cacti.
That would be very outdated though. Plus, I'm guessing when the lore was written, nobody really questioned whether or not cactus actually exist in Aloria and just took it for granted. And that is why I wanted to take a closer look and ask from a more technical point of view: do cactus exist in Aloria? Are there deserts that are suitable for cactus?

Also Cacti is the plural of cactus
There was a whole speel about that
Aha, and I thought the problem was because I wrote "cactuses" somewhere. Turns out it's because I wrote "cactus" instead, haha.

Plural for cactus can include cacti, cactuses, or cactus. I don't wanna start another argument over something so trivial, unless everyone keeps things funny.

I've been told cactuses are indeed lore-compliant, though it was more of an offhand remark than a full-on answer. I assume cacti can be found in the Ithanian desert, then? Which would further imply the Ithanian desert is more rocky and earthy as opposed to the sand hill deserts of Farah'deen?

Cacti are presumably lore compliant as I've mentioned them in lore pieces before. Most deserts across the real world have them and it's kind of an important part of the desert ecosystem. Just because there is cacti does not mean the land is inherently more rocky. Several genuses of cacti exist for all landscapes, even temperate ones. Recently I even think I saw a Player Prompt with a cactus, there's your answer to the best of my ability.

Actually, cactus are only native to the Americas, except for one species found in Africa. Though there are also other plants that resemble cactus or serve similar functions. The rocky deal came from a Skype discussion about cacti-compliance where it was mentioned that sand dunes are not suitable for cactus growth, such as the ones in Sahara, and presumably the ones in Aloria as well. Both Farah'deen and Ithania are heavily implied to be sand-dune deserts instead of the more stable, earthy deserts where cacti hail from.

But I've since been told by lore staff that cactus are compliant.

Also, that player prompt is mine :D

Sweet! I apologize for the confusion about the location of cacti. I'm more akin to animal than plants and I thought cacti were all over the world. That's educational to say the least.

Enjoy your player Prompt and I can't wait to read it!
