As a result, Anseau's ability to perform certain strikes, techniques and manoeuvre with his blade can sometimes be inhibited, as he tries to perform them against a real enemy. -Forgetfulness, a lack of muscle memory and combat intuition as a result of lacking any real sparring partner has inhibited Anseau's ability to perform certain longsword techniques during combat, he attempts to counter this by frequently re-reading portions of his Treatises, it is not uncommon for him to quickly scan a few pages before a fight. (Some times stopping mid-fight to have a quick look if his opponent is merciful enough) -Relative isolation has resulted in Anseau losing the Ithanian culture buff, (Espirit d’Homme) Life story. Anseau was born a commoner in the Ithanian city of La Portée du Paradis, orphaned at a young age and having no siblings he was forced onto the streets, engaging in petty thievery and begging in order to feed himself. As conditions in the city grew worse, Anseau chose to leave, at the age of twelve he began to wander the countryside, travelling from farm to farm, taking what he could before moving to the next settlement, travelling further south as he went. This continued for some time, until he happened upon a castle, hardly worthy of the name. Only the central keep remained, with some exterior buildings connecting onto it. The walls were crumbling, the wood rotting and overgrowth reclaiming the dilapidated walls. Stones lay scattered on the ground, walls in the process of decay. Thinking it abandoned, Anseau entered rather carelessly, and was surprised to see food, freshly prepared and warm. He was even more surprised when the scullery made hit him over the head with a broom. With his thieving nature exposed, he was left at the mercy of Alberic de Bordeaux, an old and master-at-arms, who led a rather unsuccessful bandit gang, nevertheless he was a pious soul, and with age taking its toll he thought it best to acquire people to assist him. And such Anseau was indebted to a life of service, his efforts spent on various menial tasks, cleaning, repairing, gathering and feeding. The work was plain, but atleast he had a home, although his tendencies of occasional mischief clung with him throughout his childhood. As time progressed Alberic began to instruct Anseau on the art of combat, guiding and correcting him where possible, carefully teaching him the skill of the longsword. This culminated when Alberic, who had been ill for some time, succumbed to his ailments, his passing gifts being an old sword, an illustrated treatise and his family name. The estate was claimed by the remaining members of the gang, who had harboured particular distaste for him, evicting Anseau and leaving him once more with no home. Now 22 years old Anseau decided to venture out in search of a new life, retracing the trail he took as a child back to the city of his birth, La Portée du Paradis. From there he bought passage to Regalia, where he plans to start a new chapter in his life.
-Athletics offers a 2x bonus to your physical stat, so your total should be higher. -Try to ground your backstory more in the reality of the Regalian Archipelago and lore: it is unlikely for an unnamed knight to be living alone in a castle with simply a maid, and it is even moreso unlikely for him to take in a baby found on the side of the road. How did Anseau end up there? Consider having him separated and found in a more realistic manner. Perhaps he could be taken in by a commoner family, and idolizes any knights that may happen to pass through his smaller town, gaining training when he joins the Military. There are still some logistical issues with your backstory. Consider making the following changes and tag me once you've done so. @grizenator -An 8 year old successfully wandering through the countryside alone seems unlikely. -Rather than a single knight and a maid in a castle he owns, consider having a band of mercenaries or brigands with some honor who have holed up in a long decrepit castle on the countryside.
