He even enjoys the stories and friendly banter that he finds in the tavern or from friendly passerbys. One big thing he has going for him is that he can greet almost anybody with a fuzzy lipped smile. He is also great for listening to the issues of others and trying to fix such issues to the best of his ability Forgiving: A trait that Amal is rather happy to have is his ability to forgive somebody. He is very quick to see the better in somebody and understand their reasoning. This however does not mean he tolerates doing bad things to benefit oneself. In his eyes wrong should only be done in the name to protect the weaker. Gregarious: One thing that Amal is NOT is unsociable, while some may think he could be hard to approach due to his for reserved nature he is not one to shy away from a conversation. He will in fact happily chat with a stranger that brings has an interesting story or piece of information to tell. He is however mostly only looking to see if the person proves to hold a valuable piece of information regarding Lightning magic. However he will still hold interest in anybody who holds information in the arcane arts. Picky: Amal can be a very picky person, especially in his own work, constantly finding errors in something and either fixing it or being so off put by its error that he will grumble and dwell on it for hours. This could be partially do to the meticulous precision that runs through his blood but is also mostly due to his upbringing to be as precise and perfect as he could Outspoken: Amal is someone who is not afraid to stand out from all the sheep and stand up for what they believe in. Though there are times when he will speak without thinking often giving a high chance of offending others. However, this also makes him someone who will think for himself rather than a follower of the usual or mundane. In addition, he’s difficult to fool or trick because of this Irrational: A small problem that Amal has is that he can be irrational when put into difficult situations. Often resorting to the first thing that comes mind, which most of the time ends up being either the hardest way to do it or just flat out illogical. The best way to describe this in simple terms would be that he doesn’t always think a situation through. Strengths Keen eyes: One strength that has proven a huge help to Amal throughout his years is his ability to pick out fine details and small imperfections in not only his work but also his surroundings. This has helped him avoid many problems on his travels. Small things such as seeing a bit of movement behind a tree or spotting that one book he had been looking for in a large stack proves a simple task for him. Profound: Over the years Amal has gained a vast amount of knowledge and wisdom. This has proven to be a powerful ally in his travels, as his studies have shown him many of useful things that do not simply involve the art of magic or the tales of a late woman. While he didn’t pay as much heed to these things he did keep them stored away in the event that he may need to call upon it. Or perhaps give wise advice to a young child or foolish friend. Lightning Magic: A skill Amal had worked to perfect, his magical ability in Lightning magic is better than most. Years of training has earned him the skill of an expert and patience to endure through the difficulty of learning his path. His striving for perfection in his craft has made him unlikely to fail, however unlikely doesn't mean absolutely immune. Using all subschools, he's magically prepared both offensively and defensively. Amal is not one to immediately spring to violence or enjoy using his magic in destructive matters but he is not afraid to defend him self if need be. Weaknesses Greedy: By far Amal’s biggest weakness is his craving for more knowledge. He is always trying to find more information on anything that leads to furthering his studies or advancing his skills in Lightning magic even further. This can often end with him doing some questionable things to achieve them. While he would never resort to stealing or attacking a person in possession of the knowledge he would still happily spend all of his money on a book that would advance his studies significantly. So far the one book that Amal searches for the most is a rare tome that is said to sell for thousands of regals. If he were to stumble across this he would happily sell even his soul to gain it. Hip Injury: As Amal grew older he gained him self a hip injury. While one may not see this as a huge problem, for Amal it is his greatest weakness. And the fact that it puts limits on his physical capabilities with things as simple as walking. Though that isn’t why it is something so dangerous to him. Rather it is the fact that it is a reminder to him that he is growing old and that his time on Aloria is coming to its close and he has still not achieved his goal. His fear of dying before he can achieve his goal has proven to get in his way multiple times, and until he reaches that goal he may never overcome this weakness. Weak body: Amal is not one to easily hide the fact that he is both smaller than the rest of his kin and much thinner. With most of his time spent reading books or practicing magic he is not one who gets much chance to strengthen his muscles or body. In fact one may even say that he is very frail. While he doesn’t let this stop him from trying t4hings it can often prove dangerous and frustrating for him either causing him to hurt himself or feel depressed that he can’t do something himself. Life Story Our story begins in a forge located in the far corners of Farah’deen, with a young boy named Amal Nagi. The Nagi family is mostly known only to the locals of their small community for their use of lightning magic. However there are some in the family that will go a step beyond and begin to envelope themselves more in their magic rather than the art of crafting, though these members hardly ever stay long. Amal Nagi was very young when he first began his training in the art of magic. His parents were the owners of the family forge at the time and with Amal being an only child at the time they were determined to start the his training as quickly as they could, despite the dangers that they were well aware of. His study started off simple, all he had to do was read and take lessons from his father when not working in the forge, which was almost everyday later at night. While today Amal loves his magic and treasures it greatly, it wasn’t always this way. In fact at one point he wanted nothing to do with the ways of his family at all. Having to constantly be told that it was his duty as the only heir to the forge meant that he was forced to spend all his free time studying. It was during a visit from one of his more advanced family members that this quickly changed. Faris Nagi, Amal’s great uncle, was the one to tell him the story of how his ancestors used to use the magic at great skills. The storys of the Qadir quickly enveloped Amal’s mind and he was filled with the determination to one day achieve the same level of skill as their. In his mind. From this point on he dutifully spent every waking moment to training and studying so much so that he even started paying less attention to the smithing that went on around him and at some points he even went so far as to push himself to his breaking point. There were times where he had to struggle with his studies because he was to exhausted to continue. As Amal grew older his study into magic only advanced further. His duty never faltered and his love for his art only grew, slowly he began to wrap himself in his studies, shutting himself off from things that took his attention away from it. He collected and held onto any and all books and scrolls he could manage to obtain that had anything to do with his idol or his magic. It wasn’t until his young adulthood that he realised that he wasn’t going to advance his studies further unless he left his small hometown, every book and tome his family had to offer was in his possession exhausted by the time he hit his early twenties. Reluctantly leaving his books in the hands of his family he chose to leave home, only carrying with him a few of his favorite study materials so that he wouldn’t fall behind on his work even during his travels. Traveling across the land taught Amal more and more that his magic was something that he shouldn’t just openly discuss with people, and when looking for books or scrolls to study he had to be careful who he let see as to avoid being drafted into a fight he wanted nothing to do with. Careful wording and working odd jobs soon paid for Amal to get his hands on a small hand drawn cart, which he used to carry rations and any bit of information he could. This let Amal not only discover new lands but also continue his studies even further, his life very quickly became centered around his magic and any bit of study was meant to be involved as such. As he reached his early sixties Amal had become nearly an entirely different person than he was when he was forty years ago. Now he sported a thick beard that he would impulsively run his fingers through when lost in deep thought, and his once short hair now long, greying and curly was pulled back into braids. His eyes were much darker now from what he says is his lack of sleep due to his long late night study sessions. But even in his older age he is still loyal to his belief of becoming the strongest Lightning Mage to have ever lived and surpassing the strength of the ancestors that he holds so high. My review: You state her hair is black with greying, this is impossible without dyes. All Songaskian hair is snow white and the Cielothar have "light brown/caramel color hair" to quote the wiki. Black is highly unlikely. The traits of picky and finicky are almost identical, the description of finicky could just be summarized in the previous one as an added point about their desire for a certain setup in their workspace. In addition, finicky has no affects that would come out with other people that picky wouldn't also cover. Please remove it or combine the two together before finding another weakness for the personality. His weaknesses of his age and weak body are also one in the same. If you are old, there is almost a certainty that your body will be weaker than younger people. Combine them together and find another weakness. Your life story exceeds the 900 word limit by 95, please cut it down or possibly try to make it more concise through point form. You can then take the larger life story and simply put it into a spoiler for people to also read if they wish. Due to the question of parentage I raised earlier, I will not review the life story until these first round of edits has been complete. Please tag me when these edits have been completed in green.
Your traits of affable and outspoken should maybe have a point or two more of content in each please. What parts of the life story did you edit down, I know you reduced/reworked it but I don't know the changes, could you color them in green please?
@The_Shadow_King3 I have completely changed Amals magic from Fire to lightning feeling it is a little more fitting for him. I have also not been able to use him to much so this should not be getting in the way of any IC things.
Remains approved but please be sure to cancel and request the proper permissions. Also to remove the mentions of "The Mistress" from the life story, I suspect they are old allusions to his former magic.
