With the release of the Alternate Universe(aka AU - The Roaring 20's), I figured I'd take the time to make a thread and have everyone give opinions and make arguments or ideas, mainly because I'm bored out of my mind and I finished a book and I have nothing to do (:

Without further ado, I shall begin by saying that the Staff of MassiveCraft did and excellent job with bringing the AU universe to life and making the map as beautiful as ever. These talented Staff members have done an excellent job with building and creating 1920's Regalia. To me, it really does look like the 1920's, yet I wasn't even born in the 20's so to be honest, I don't know what it was like, but when I went to museums and I saw old paintings and photos from the 20's, I was so amazed at what it looked like. We should all give a big clap to the Staff Team on MassiveCraft for putting in effort and time into making the AU universe come to life.

NOW! For the debate and opinions section of this thread, I would love to have you guys know that any and all comments on this thread will stay unless you want to delete them for any reason. I posted this thread because I wanted to share my opinions and thoughts and have you guys share opinions and thoughts as well. If you want to debate with others on what they said, you may do that, but please do not be an ass about it. Be respectful and cohesive about it. If any comment that I see sounds like it is insulting or rude, I will delete it.

Now, if you don't know what the AU is, I suggest you read that before you make your own comment/comments on it. So, in my honest opinion, I think the AU is unique and fun nonetheless. My reasons are because we shouldn't always be in 307 AC Regalia time. Instead, jumping thousands of years later to the year 1920 sounds amazing because if you think about... 1920-307 is 1613 years apart. During those 1613 years, who knows what happened to Regalia. Jumping to the year 1920 is a long jump and we are all reborn to be the same person, yet we really don't know our ancient past except from the visions and/or images that we see from it. Seeing as how we are reborn into a time where we now have more advanced technology, we can consider making new inventions and we can bring ideas together which is kinda cool in my opinion.

Anyways, it is well built, but I hope people still roleplay in the old Regalia as well. Now, before I let you rampaging debaters get to debating, please understand that this thread is for thoughts and opinions and not consistent bullying or insulting comments. I want people to share their ideas and opinions on the AU and not get bullied by others for it. Without further ado, let's get to debating folks.

  • Proficiency Points / Categories
  • Lore
  • Character apps
  • A QnA thread .

The entire idea of the AU is for players to have fun experiencing something new, and not to be burdened by the involvement of systems such as proficiency points and character apps. There's already brief lore that Marty wrote up, which is all we need for something so small.

Even Marty himself asked for us to not make character apps, and for us to enjoy the occassion without gaming it.

The idea seams fine, though there's a few things that I personally think could have been organized better, and one thing that might hurt the AU all together.

Player lore should have been talked about awhile before this was announced. It's cool that the player base can make lore, though I find that how it's handled is rather strange. We can choose what bits of lore we accept and don't accept, which is rather odd given that would likely cause some minor issues talking on "Which lore bit should be followed". Personally I think that there should have been a thread to submit lore ideas and the community decided via voting on what is added weeks before this would have been a better idea. Though the current origination that's taking place isn't too bad. The areas that I think should have been talked about before hand are the following:
  • Proficiency Points / Categories
  • Lore
  • Character apps
  • A QnA thread
My major worry is due to Massivecraft's player base of around ~200 people, that there won't be enough people in the Cannon, or AU to have proper roleplay, given that everyone is on a different life schedule. Worst case for the AU is it becomes like Mull or Silverwind, the player base doesn't roleplay there and it becomes abandoned.

Maybe afew of them I'm wrong on, who knows.

To be quite honest, I think the AU will be a great way for people to start roleplaying before they hit the world of Regalia. Both Regalia and AU are amazing and what @Arhbi said is a hundred percent true. Marty did not want any character applications for the new AU mainly because the characters that we make are reborn after they die in 307 AC Regalia. They are reborn to a time like the 1800's or 1900's.

However, I do worry that it may fall off. Even if it does, the time that it was there might've been fun and amazing for other players (: I just hope people continue to roleplay in Regalia.

The roaring twenties weren't actually very roaring. Even so if the history isn't straight on point, it seems like a nice change temporarily.

I wish to hear more thoughts on AU. come on people give me something to debate or others to debate i mean like i'm bored 100% of the time soooo let's rUMBLEEEE @everyone

I like the AU and have had an amazing time roleplaying on it so far. I think staff did an amazing job on it. I hope people stay RPing on normal Regalia, though.

It's not my thing personally, but people enjoy it so I see it as a success

I enjoy the idea of my char being resurrected 1500 years after his death tho- resurrection is always cool even if it's an alternate universe

Okay same - I love it, but I hope people continue to roleplay in Regalia.

Medieval server, so can we build space ships etc in the faction world now?
No... lmao.

Mhm! I do too!

I'm a new player, and I have to say, I agree completely! The AU world helped me familiarize myself with the chat system, and it also let me get a feel for what the community is like. Also, the 1920s just has a nice aesthetic.

I imagine it'll fade soon-ish. The way it's set up doesn't lend itself to longevity like the standard Regalia does, and it isn't meant to. Regardless, it's a fun little change of pace, though people are kinda getting carried away with murdering each other left and right. Feels a little memey in that sense.

So far it seams to be doing well, ~50% of the RP player base was in it when I last checked. Though if it will survive or fade into obscurity, only time will tell. Great work from staff though for making it.

Yeah. People do love both Regalia and AU, but I'm more familiar with Regalia. I however love the AU because it is unique and very good for new people who want to learn the roleplay commands before they head to Regalia.

I fear it'll fade, but while it's there, it is amazing and fun for me and others! And, the murdering stuff is kinda bizarre tbh.

we can drive tanks and be rich ballers now so its pretty cool i guess

and i oop-

I think its a good breath of fresh air and something for people who grew a bit tired of the generic medieval roleplay, for something different. Personally I've been able to revive and roleplay two characters I ended up shelving due to difficult reasons which lead me unable to roleplay them and now I can play them again in a different time-line, I missed roleplaying them immensely and it's been amazing just being able to plan and have fun with them again

I am concerned it might gain more traction than the original regalia, but most likely it'll be busy for a couple of weeks and slowly filter down and get quiet again. Though I could be wrong

I agree 100% with you on the whole thing with how it'll gain more traction. I mean, most people now are in the AU which is fine in all, but you can't always be in the AU unless you want to be. I prefer being in both AU and Regalia as much as I can. I just hope people still continue to roleplay in Regalia. Also, I hear it's fun, but the excessive murder and shootings that are happening within roleplay in the AU is kinda bizarre right now like... i have no words on that. Otherwise, I agree with you.
