Backstory/Plothooks
- Alois was born as a Vampire Brood, bearing the eyes and fangs of the Sanguine Curse. He was abandoned as a child, so he has no idea whether both of his parents were Vampires, or if one was the victim of another. Corresponding with other Vampire hunters, it is most likely that his parent was from the Silberfeder Bloodline of Desprince Colvan.
- Inspired by the actions of Lothar III Tyrmont during the Undeath Terror, Alois took up the study of Alchemy in order to better understand and combat the threat of Vampirism. Many Alchemical creations have proven effective in hindering the Curse's influence, and he also wishes to learn more about his own condition so that he may better understand what separates a Brood from a Vampire.
- While Alchemy is a valuable field of study, Alois was raised by Everians who in turn taught him much about the Imperial Court and the functions of the Regalian State. While his status of a Brood has kept him away from the noble courts around Baldmark, he nonetheless has a strong background in the politics of the Regalian Empire, and would aid any noble benefactor who had need of his services.
- Alois was left at the stairs of the local Unionist Temple, and so was raised by the clergy, albeit isolated from most others due to his Brood status. He also took a sabbatical to the Hellatian States, where Evintarians taught him techniques for living with the Sanguine Curse. While appreciative of these skills, Alois is not a member of the Evintarian Cult, as he disagrees with their practices of using extradimensional entities.
- Rumvalia, and Baldmark in general, is a cultural mess. The Vlach culture is most common around Virgoviste, though the clergy that took Alois in were Wirtem, and so their cultural sensibilities ultimately had the strongest influence. His silver streak in the hair is also a telltale sign that somewhere in his ancestry is Sarnan blood. As travel to Tirgunn is practically a death sentence for Broods, he will have to learn about this part of his heritage through others.
