Alchemy log, O' Seven - O' Seven, 306 AC.
Introduction:
Our team has been working extensively on Duister. It isn't easy to pinpoint what exactly is in the potion that makes the time of duration tick. Allreizz has been leading the operation alongside Ssaall. I've been getting carried along with in all honesty. Despite my limited knowledge, I hope to become more of a help than a nuisance to the team. Only time and progress will tell.
Progress:
So far, Ssaall and I have started progress in pinpointing the ingredients which directly affect duration. My first hypothesis targeted Vocadine, solely because of a hunch, however in our progress and knowledge of other potions with the ingredient, Allreizz and Ssaall saw no real click to it being the source. Our suspicions now lie in Empairina, or Cloudberry, as these two ingredients have some form of time additives when consumed.
Cloudberry:
We've discovered through extensive research that this ingredient, when consumed in higher quantities, will in fact increase the duration of shivering affects. It's quite difficult to test this, as whenever Allreizz consumes the Cloudberry, he goes through an hour of misery and chills. Conclusion? Cold blooded creatures should not consume Cloudberry directly. Of course we continued anyways, sacrifices must be made and we are all familiar with this prospect. What we discovered was that by consuming one cloudberry, the effect lasted up to thirty minutes, but when consuming two cloudberries, it was extended by roughly fifteen minutes. A promising sign. All in all, we had to cease the experiments throughout the day, for fear of the lingering effects that may prolong on our team's leader, such as coughing, or damage to lungs. Good thing Allar regenerate well huh?
Empairina:
Our next promising ingredient, Empairina. Ssaall was knowledgeable to know that consuming the ingredient in larger quantities didn't quite affect the shade of lilac, rather the duration. We went ahead and tested this on myself. It was a wonderful contrast to my pageant green scales, but we were able to confirm the studies of other alchemists before us through this experiment, so no trouble shooting there.
Hypothesis:
If we quarantine two batches of duister, one with additional cloudberry and one more potent in Empairina, then the duration may last longer. Here are the schematics conjured by Allreizz and Ssaall, I simply helped with the math.
The schematic for an increase of Cloudberry is as follows:
⅕ part Dorinn Herbal, (A decrease of .05 potency)
⅕ part Empairina flower, ( A decrease of .05 potency)
⅕ part Black Orchid petals (A decrease of .05 potency)
¼ part Cloudberry (An increase of .125 potency)
3/20 part Charcoal (An increase of .025 potency)
The schematic for an increase of Empairina flower is as follows:
⅕ part Dorinn Herbal, (A decrease of .05 potency)
3/10 part Empairina flower (An increase of .05 potency)
⅕ part Black Orchid petals (A decrease of .05 potency)
3/20 part Cloudberry (An increase of .025 potency)
3/20 part Charcoal (An increase of .025 potency)
Finances:
We have currently been using funding from the Piergartens 1500 regal investment. I'm sure I can bring it up with the Digmaan, they may perhaps invest further, no doubt. But with the bringing of our business' membership in the Ardelan company, and the experience we've obtained with working under the Alchemia, we hope that this won't be a dead end to what we are ACTUALLY attempting to accomplish. First, it starts with pinpointing the duration of Duister, then we can concentrate on the Zu-Allar which come into play.
