Height: 6’1 Character Alignment: Chaotic Neutral A chaotic neutral character is an individualist who follows their own heart and generally shirks rules and traditions. Although chaotic neutral characters promote the ideals of freedom, it is their own freedom that comes first; good and evil come second to their need to be free.Character Personality Type: Virtuoso Virtuosos explore ideas through creating, troubleshooting, trial and error and first-hand experience. They enjoy having other people take an interest in their projects and sometimes don’t even mind them getting into their space, on the condition that those people don’t interfere with Virtuosos’ principles and freedom.Religion: 2/10: Aesgeir follows his Great Oak Code strictly and holds no religious identity, treating every religion he encounters the same and acting as a protector for any that need it. -Aesgeir was born as the only son to two Woaden Ailor parents, Freyir and Ragnar Eklund, living in a forest town in the Velheim nation of Hedryll. The region’s continuing state of decline from previous incidents meant that the family was poor, barely getting enough money to keep their modest lifestyle. -His childhood consisted of helping his father to cut trees in the forest and learning carpentry with his mother, though they also enjoyed father and son hunting trips on quiet days. -Aesgeir was also taught how to use a blade skillfully by his father, who had previously worked as a mercenary before settling down to start a family. Coupled with his axe training, the young man became a competent fighter and able to look after himself. -Throughout his childhood, Aesgeir spent time visiting his mother's family in Rikeland. His uncle, Valgard, was an old Great Oak knight who told stories to him and his cousin, Fenrir, about his glory days in the order whenever the young man stayed with them. -Eventually, Aesgeir encountered a local Great Oak passing through the town to sell his kills from hunting and started speaking to him. It was here he learnt of the nearby Hedryll Great Oak lodge, where hunters were treated as knights and taught a code of honour that recognised across the empire. With numbers dwindling, the knight encouraged him to join when ready. -Aesgeir spent the next few years continuing to train as a hunter, bringing in more money for his parents and preparing himself to travel to the lodge when he was fourteen years old. Having grown up with her Great Oak brother, his mother ensured he was ready with regular exercises. -Upon the arrival of his birthday, Aesgeir and his father travelled to the Hedryll hunting lodge, where the knight he had encountered previously vouched for him and allowed him to become trained as an Untested. This was when he parted ways with his father for a new life with the order. -During the following years, Aesgeir was taught how to use his hunting knowledge effectively, alongside contributing to the labour and common tasks expected for the Untested knights. This slowly prepared him for the day he would be ready to prove himself. -After ten years of training and learning how to apply the Great Oak code to his own methods, Aesgeir was deemed ready to partake on his first solo hunt. Whilst injuring himself in his efforts, the young man managed to return with the corpse of a Northern Dire Wolf and was declared a Swordbrother by the Lodge Master. -He spent a few months with the other knights at the Hedryll lodge before setting out to make a name for himself, often choosing to drop his surname in favour of something more vague to ensure it would be his actions that set him apart from the other knights instead. -Aesgeir slowly began to travel across the wilderness, valuing his returned freedom and independence as he took to finding suitable challenges to help him improve. Whilst he avoided assisting in warfare, the knight was not opposed to protecting villages or taking contracts on local beasts to make income. -This would eventually take him across Hadrian’s Wall and down South as he crossed the empire in search of untamed beasts and commoners that might accept his assistance, intending to prove himself as more than just a barbaric Northerner to strangers. -It wasn’t long before Aesgeir set his sights upon Regalia, hearing of the various attacks and unnatural incidents over the years, and put some money aside to take the journey overseas to the capital city. This is where he intends to make a name for himself and reconnect with the other Great Oak knights and chapters that have settled there.
@Finlaggan Added Woaden lineage to Aesgeir, plus a tiny edit in backstory to accomodate. Just requesting the checkover. (Plus he's no longer Velstad so sleep well, sweet prince).
@Finlaggan Updated with new Dragon Warden abilities, new eye colour and a better description of his religious views.
@Finlaggan Tagging for re-review after new proficiency update, removed Special Permission after voluntarily giving it up as well.
Hey, this character needs a new reviewer and a check-over since I just redid the skill points based on the update. Thanks!
