BACKSTORY
Aedric Valenheart was not always the righteous knight he is today. The story's beginning goes back to his days as a farmer's son on the Island of Etosil. The food was hearty, the company of villagers in his village welcoming, and his father and mother taught him the ways of unionism to be ingrained with the lessons of how to live. His life was peaceful and quiet, and such a life he received with contentment. But he learned the difficult way, that life is full of unexpected calamities.

One day as his father and he were tending to their crops for the spring harvest, shadows of something in the horizon came into their view. Ships bearing black banners with red crows. His father grimaced as the realization came upon him, sea raiders had come. His father hurried him inside the house and removed a piece of carpet that revealed a hidden trap door. His mother gave him a loving kiss on his forehead and handed him a locket. "Remember son always be fearless, never flee from your fear, let it give you courage," are the last words that Aedric heard from his father before he was put under the trap down and he closed it.

As time went on he began to hear fighting, screaming, and his house door kicking down. Mere words could not define the terror that Aedric felt as he heard the raiders brutally murdering his parents. When the sounds ceased, he quietly left his hiding spot, the horror only having doubled from the sight. His parents, the villagers, and everyone he loved were dead. For a moment his heart was gripped with grief and despair but in his moment of mental weakness, anger consumed him. He swore to grow strong, find those raiders, and bring them to justice.

And so he grew, working where he could, making his body strong, and teaching himself how to fight with a sword. When was eighteen years of age, he finally found the very same raiders who ruined his life. The blood he spilled that night will haunt him for his whole life. For a moment he was utterly satisfied, but after the deed was done, he felt nothing but empty, and soon that empty feeling turned to shame. He had let anger consume him, and drive him, and now he had nothing.

He thought his life was over. But then he was found by a wandering Knight of the Bloodcast, shocked by the scene before him. After Aedric explained what happened, instead of being punished, the Knight asked if he sought a new purpose. Aedric said yes and the knight offered him to seek redemption for his actions as a knight. Now filled with hope, Aedric spent years at the Bloodcast Monestary on Etosil, honing his swordsmanship, devoting himself to the gods, and now he is a weapon, a weapon for justice, a bane against darkness. He is Aedric Valenheart, Paladin, and Knight of the Bloodcast.

Heritage Traits:

Free Packs:
  • Ailor can choose 1 Pack from any Category for free. If any magic is chosen, the player may choose Alignment between God Magic, Exist, Ordial, Void, and Dragon Magic.
  • Ailor can choose 1 Pack from Mounted Point Buy or Training Point Buy Categories for free.
Mechanics:
  • Ailor are masters of languages, which is expected given their habit to culturally divides. Because so many of their languages are inter-connected, various words become more obviously related, and they also take more effort to learn other languages. If someone insults an Ailor, even in a language they do not speak, the Ailor would know, as they know most curse words or words by which to speak ill of others in all languages.
  • Ailor are the masters of the Regalian Empire, and while it has equality between all peoples and heritages, Ailor are just by virtue of being Ailor considered preferential for most government positions and judicial situations. Where possible to do with the Nobility, with Government, or with Palace decisions, Ailor will be treated preferentially over other peoples, even if their qualifications might be lesser than the other options.
  • Ailor make for excellent negotiators. Ailor gain +2 on top of every Persuasion Dice roll result, and their Persuasion Cap is also increased by +2 for every Dice Roll. These effects only apply to non-Afflicted, non-Mystech individuals, as their speech and habits are entirely fine-tuned to the more mundane aspects of global society, they must venture beyond their comfort zone to be able to reach Magic things.
  • Ailor whether by divine intervention or by sheer dump cosmic luck, always somehow end up on the right side of history. Ailor Characters when participating in Events, may sometimes stumble into an extreme luck roll that drops an additional loot item for one of the participants. This loot can be physical items, or intangible things like Divinium or an Artifactspark. Chances are higher for non-Magic using Ailor than Magic using Ailor.
  • Ailor have unusual religious flexibility due to their history. Ailor are able to follow two Religions at once, further than Religious Syncretism could allow, but this can never include Evolism or Pagan Faiths. If a second Religion is followed, the Character must declare one as "dominant" from which they receive the Religious Mechanic and Afterlife, and one "subdominant" (from which they get neither of these). Believers of the subdominant Religion can reject this faith sharing, but the Gods never will. Any other Mechanics that derive off faith will only apply to the dominant Religion.
Artifact Ownership:
Aedric possesses the sword Parthas, a legendary blade used by the founder of the Baselion Chapter.

Baselion Mechanic:
  • Basileon Knights in out-of-combat Strength competitions involving Dice Rolls, can add +5 to any Dice Result. They also gain +2 Main Combat Stat (break cap up to 11) while in an Arena.
PERSONALITY
Aedric is a kind soul who values integrity, honor, and justice. But sadly his values are also his heaviest burdens as he feels the weight of trying to do good and will often severely judge himself when he makes mistakes.
