To Mister Aberforth III Hartwell,

In light of your recent public letter, I have decided to release my own. As a member of the Aristocratic Peerage, I believe it only right I defend my family and my name. As Matriarch to House Fristadvlom, I have utilized my family's funds and resources as best as possible. While you sit upon your ship or comfortably at your desk, mind that not all families are as affluent as your own, that not all families are blessed with forgiving circumstances or lands.

I have dedicated a total of 45% of my family's funds to the Regalian Empire. The full mandated 40% is to the State and 5% is to the Crown. As a result, my family's weekly earning have been reduced to 1,650 regals. This may not sound daunting, but recall that the Duchy of Kerwolf is not as economically stable as your own land. My family and those who depend upon my family in Rikeland need enough funds for the upcoming winter, and you are asking of me to put their lives at risk. In order for I and the people who I am responsible for to continue serving the Empire, we cannot cripple ourselves. For how can one help, if one is not healthy and is not able to support themselves?

It is true, the Empire comes first in all actions of good will, but as part of it, we do our part by working studiously and ensuring to keep the economy moving to fund this war. Our troops are risking their lives and us left here at home must continue to support through production and commerce. To be able to even offer the funds you ask of, we must be able to consistently produce and be in the healthy state to consistently produce.

What you ask of us is inconsiderate to the state of our lands at hand. There is more to our problems in funding the war than taxes we pay. I suggest you visit the Court often and truly be acquainted with the issues at hand, rather than choosing to publicly shame those of your same class.

With Sincerity,
Novellia's signature30.webp
Acting Matriarch of House Fristadvlom
Aristocrat of Upplanda in the Duchy of Kerwolf

Responding to Miss Fristadvlom,
The House of Hartwell supports and applauds the House of Fristadvlom for their eagerness to defend themselves but must advise them to mind how they publicly speak to another house directly, as it inspires feuds and internal disputes undesired in a time of such large-scale war. Your insults and implications of sloth by stating, as you put it " you sit upon your ship or comfortably at your desk " will be ignored at current moment for my employer chooses benefit of the doubt in my response to you, and accepts your ignorance of his family's efforts in this war and his Duke's financial situation as your defense.

Further to the specifics of your financials the House of Hartwell applauds the House of Fristadvlom for meeting the state requirement, and reminds them that donating additionally to the mandated taxes was a friendly challenged published to put food in the mouths of our soldiers, not a requirement of means of shaming. Apologies are issued to Miss Fristadvlom personally if she took insult. They further pray for the safety and health of those under Fristadvlom in these coming cold months.

In response to your third paragraph involving studies and moving the economy, maybe service to state would be most beneficial for the Fristadvlom family, as my employer can not find your family name on any military roster, despite your multiple mentions of servicing the empire and including yourself in the mention of the Empire's soldiers by stating "our troops".

To your final statement, no issue trivial should be greater than the issue of the Dread war. When it comes to it my employer is aware of your certain placement between families who have made public statements of detest with one another, and House Hartwell understands if the threat of violence moving through your lands is scary. Though with that fear in your mind you are advised to not take everything posted as a threat or insult, especially one such as this friendly challenge to support our troops.
With the most sincere comprehension,
The scribe of House Hartwell on Behalf of:
Aberforth III Eadwald Hartwell.
Patriarch of House Hartwell.
Aristocrat hailing from Swinnigh, Dragenthal.
Graduate of Admiralty.

Haeddi Harhold gave a small giggle as she read the letters on the board before snapping her fan open to murmur behind it towards her friend besides her, Milena du Brierüst.

"Margravine, the aristocrats are already on each other's nerves and making a public squabble."

@canaaa

"You know, I've never heard of House Hartwell, either. Have you, Madame? Oh- have they even shown up at court yet?" Milena asks curiously as she eyes the letters, glasses pulled down her nose to see. "Do they do anything significant with the war effort?" she asks Reimar Typhonus (@ChapterDeath) idly, raising her teacup to her lips. "Either way, this is quite entertaining. If I had known commoners squabbling was so fun, I'd have advocated for them at court long ago."

At the mention of his name he was brought out of his thoughts. He looked over towards Milena du Brierust (@canaaa) and replied. "The name is mostly unfamiliar with me, though I believe they contributed funds?" After looking thinking on it for a moment he commented. "One of the ten-pennies might have mentioned the family in passing. It'll be interesting to see how they move forward, considering that statement from Anahera."
