The council of the Synod was presented, as per usual in the halls of the Crown Cathedral of Regalia, a room dedicated to the business of the highest clergy in the Empire and the faith. Although the room was a usual gathering place for the clergy, the topic was contrary to such with the recent news of the resignation of High Reverend Leufroy d'Goss, Pontifical name Volckmar III, the council had been called to honour the legacy and succession of the office to a new individual they deem fittest.

The previous Volckmar III had achieved many great things during his short reign. The greatest that we in our current time will likely remember is how he stood up for the church during a great crisis, offered the help of the church to the government in times of need and brought the church into the matters of the politics again after it was diluted from the destruction of the Regalian Crown, splitting these powers between the clergy and nobility. Although it created debate at the beginning it did provide us with a Kade run government and a return to a proper Empire where the nobility does not rule over the faith, and likewise the faith does not rule over the nobility, truly creating stability.

Future generations however may focus more on the expansion of the church, with the creation of several new branches of the church's physical might. With the introduction of the Blackguards and the Holy Knights of the Virtuous Blood the church had a better grip on the heretical acts and aberrations that lurked in the darker parts of the Empire, a grip that will surely last hundreds of years into the future.

This is the man that they have to find a replacement for in the church, a replacement that can, if not follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, at least honour his office enough to uphold it and not destroy, or create chaos. The future of the church lies right there with them in that stone-pillared hall, servants caring to their every needs as they once again need to decide.

The Elder of the hall stood up in the hall as he had done so many times before "Here we are again, brothers of the cloth." He looked around the hall eyeing everyone present. "You know how this works, we all debate about what we need in a new High Reverend and then later discuss who embodies these values the best. I'll let the youngins of the hall go first and then I'll dispense my wisdom of old afterwards." With that the old holy-baron sat down again letting the others take the floor

The Reverend nodded at his Brother Stephan, "I agree. I shall step back and allow those younger within our council to speak their minds first."

Reverend Rodrigo Pedrosa stood from his seat and faced the hall, his purple robes hanging down to his feet as he gathered his hands infront of him. "Brothers, I will keep my words short and sincere. Regrettably, we have not the brightest impression in the eyes of the Crown City as a result of the recent conflicts; a situation we must account for. It is my belief that the High Reverend to come should be someone capable of amending to this fact, someone who will endeavor in their best efforts to bring the Holy Synod back into a brighter light in the eyes of our denizens. Only then can we truly prosper and spark the flame of faith in the hearts of those who believe, and I am most certain, brothers, that among us, there will be one who can do this." The young Reverend then sat himself down.

The Elder of the hall nodded at Pedrosa's statement, yet added "I agree with your statement, but we must not decide to go full on pacifistic. We need a secular church from the government without being as aggressive as before, yet we also need to not become fully populists in our quest to do so. If we decide on a head of the church being completely pacifistic, because if we decide so, we'll either become the church we were half a year ago, being swept under the rug by the nobility, or the rest of the Synod needs to take a much more aggressive stance than the High Reverend, in which case what exactly did we change? With that comment on the new reverend's piece the Elder sat down again.

"I did not take Brother Pedrosa's statement as such. My opinion is that we should take not a pacifistic stance, yet a less aggressive stance. Stern yet forgiving. Strong yet guiding. We must pull back from aggressive towards all to aggressive towards our real enemies. I can list a few that could be considered such and a few that could not be yet we went after. I would rather not however."

Reverend Ludevar rose and nodded in agreement "We do indeed need a High Reverend who will endeavor to be strict, but also to show mercy. We all know what we want, we also know each other well enough. Instead of bickering, back and forth. I propose we get this over with swiftly. We have been left weak and ashamed, these are errors we need to mend soon. So, I shall get to the point; which of us wishes to begin the nomination?" The middle aged reverend said, opening his arms and awaiting for anyone to speak.

((I'm gonna go ahead and do a little bit of DM'ing there. Marty requested that we have the voting itself done wednesday. What we're doing until then is discuss character attributes we want in a new HR and then later discuss who embodies these best.))

The old man leaned forwards, resting his left palm gently on his knee and saying, "Firstly, I am of the opinion at this moment that I am not suited for the High Reverendship. I am far too docile a creature to truly reflect the ideals, the courage, of the Empire. Secondly, I nominate my senior, Father Aelfric, for the seat. He has demonstrated time and again that he possess the calm heart and tempered faith needed to guide us as we guide greater Union." At that, the old man would lean back, looking about those gathered.

The elder of the hall raised himself once again, likely for the last time as he picked up a bell that a servant had given to him a few minutes prior, along with a watch which he had kept a close eyes on for the past ten minutes.
Suddenly the elder would ring the bell and as it could be heard in the whole hall he announced
"Attention! The diet of the Synod has ended, let all discussion fall at silence, by the witness of the spirit."
"We will now commence the Pontifical Conclave, the voting period of this hall. The cycle shall go as thus: oldest to youngest. That means I shall start, Brother Harhold will follow, then Brother Howlester, and so on."

The elder took a few steps forward as he approached a position from which he could be seen by all "And so let it be known, I shall start the conclave with the publication of my self-nomination. It was a hard choice, but I have decided that I can balance my noble life with my clergy life with a good conscious. My heart in the assembly will however always side with the clergy, the older men of the hall will know me well enough to verify this. That is it from me, Brother Harhold?" He said as he sat down, giving a gesture for Aelfric to continue with his vote.

"My vote currently goes to Stephan. I believe all of Nobility are capable of balancing our noble life with our clergy life and I certainly thank Brother Stephan for putting us in favor." bowed his head at that, before turning to Brother Howlester.

"My vote still resides with Brother Aelfric. He has done well in his efforts for the faith, and is widely known among the populace." said the old wolf, as he gestured for the next Reverend to speak their piece.

"I feel confident in my belief that Brother Stephan will be the right choice to lead our Holy Synod towards prominence in these days of need. For that matter, I shall be lending him my vote." said Rodrigo as he stood, and when he finished, he returned to his seat and gestured for the next Reverend to cast their vote.

The old man nodded to Pedrosa at that before announcing "We have reached a majority, but in the Synod we believe in everyone's wisdom and insight and will let the remaining Reverend Ludevar speak his opinion, as should be his right".
At that he sat down again, waiting for Ludevar to speak.

Quorum is 4, not 3. There are 6 reverends, which is why quorum is 4. Majority is not yet reached. ))

This is the picture we found on his Reverend character earlier today. Only a few hours after being added as a Reverend on the Discord and leaving about the same time
Unless of course his registration get inherited by This OnlyAThot he talks about

I wasn't made aware of this because the Synod discord is closed to outsiders. I suppose majority is reached.

We honestly didn't realise till 20 minutes before election either. He left without a trace or a single word
Still awaits Titus' vote for courteous' sake))
He quit due to apparent flaming. I was just gonna have the character available for recruiting to the family. I can hop on as him if a vote is needed.

Reverend Ludevar rose and began to speak "My vote will go for Brother Harhold. While I believe Brother Stéphan would do a fantastic job, I do not believe a Hugh Reverend should be occupied also with his own house" Finished the Reverend sat down
