A Final Breath.

Tobie sat at his desk, writing down his thoughts and memories to share with friends and family as he so pleased. He tapped the end of the fountain pen in unison with the ticking of the grandfather clock in his room, humming lightly to himself as he thought of what he might write next. After a long while of ticking, tapping and humming, he seemed to brighten up some. His eyes shuffled through piles of paper and documents all shoved into a drawer before he pulled out three sealed envelopes. His head shook lightly as he thought of the troubles the letters might cause, though nodding and murmuring to himself. "Perhaps just, one more." He started scribbling down on a fresh piece of parchment, seemingly holding back what happened to be tears as he began.

'To my dearest cousin, Amelina. I know you've got so much responsibility on your hands now, but you have to be strong, for the others and for me. This, is my way of relieving you of some added stress. I have put my affairs in order and you should know that all will be fine in time, know that I'll miss you and I'll watch you every step of the way. This, I promise.'

'To my beautiful wife, Kimmie. I was cruel, I became the one thing I never wanted to be and lost my mind in the end. You stuck by me every step of the way and for that I am thankful, I want you to know that you're never truly alone in this world and that my family will be there every step of the way for you. Even though I am now gone, you can count on them to treat you well, to show you what it means to be a Peirgarten.'

'To my silly little brother, Maxence. I want you to remember me the way I was before you came to Regalia, remember the me that cared and showed compassion, kindness and strength in every what he could. I also need you to remember that you are now the man of the house, look after Kimmie and Belle for me, will you? In the end, remember that I passed on thinking of you all.'

'To the Maiden of Flowers, my little cousin who against all odds brought the most laughter into my life, Fiorella. I promise you that this isn't the end, we've still got many adventures to go on, so many paths to travel and sights to see! I leave to you, my sword, so that you might keep a piece of me forever. I will be with you every step of the way, but you have to put in the effort and show me that you can go on smiling. Remember, life is nothing without happiness.'

He sniffled somewhat, letting tears lightly patter unto the final bit of parchment that was to be written upon. He looked to his stump and nodded to himself as he took in a large breath and let it out as shakily as it may have been.

'To my beautiful daughter, Belle. You are what kept me going in the end, the thought that you'd one day grow up to be my pride and joy kept me alive long enough to write this letter. Know that daddy loves you. Daddy will always love you and support you in your every action. Remember, never give up hope, hope is all we have in the end. I was stupid enough to give up, but I know you're smarter than that. I promise you, your uncle Max and your mother will look after you to the best of their abilities. I suppose that's all I have to say, Spirit Bless you, my darling. Goodnight. - Tobie Peirgarten.'

A gulp protruded from him as he sealed each note in a small envelope and lifted a small vial from his pocket, uncorking it and staring to a small drawing of his wife in his left hand. He rose himself, putting the drawing into his pocket and downing the substance before stumbling for a moment towards his bed, then falling unto his knees whilst supporting himself with the bedframe before murmuring softly. "Rest at last.." His eyes closed somewhat before he fell forwards, completely limp. Taking in his final breath, all that remained was the ticking of the clock and the memory of the tapping of his pen that once accompanied it.

"Such a coward. Real men confront their problems head on and admit their wrong doings. This is selfish to take yourself out from the people who loved you, but also feuded. If you were sincere you would have apologized face to face."
Azara muttered about the poster.

Maxence kind of just stood there astonished, his hands shook as he read the words. His older brother, the one he looked up too, gone. Chewing his lip he mustered all the strength he could, to keep himself together, practically sprinting to go find consolation in his wife.

Clementine could be found on her way out of Regalia the day after the news reached her. While generally composed, she had clear tears in her eyes as she waved away the boy trying to help with her case, lifting it herself as she hurried on board. She palmed at her face to clear the tears before reaching her hand into her coat pocket, paper rustling underneath her hand. She didn't take the notes out, finding a spot to sit in silence- hoping for comfort from their presence alone.

A frown creased a certain Ithanian-Anglian mutt's features. "And thus the suffering continues. May his soul rest." After speaking thusly, Darcie began to write and dispatch a note along with a floral arrangement.

A blood curdling shriek was heard from the bedroom as Kimmie found his body. She'd rushed to get him help as soon as she found him, but it was of no use, her husband was gone. It seemed as if the tears pouring from the widowed woman's eyes would never cease as she sat at the side of her husband's body. But eventually the woman got up and wiped at her cheeks, going to sit instead by the side of her daughter who was sleeping peacefully in her bed, having slept through all the commotion. All the woman could do was inspect every feature of the little girl's face, seeing her beloved husband in her small features, "I promise I'll keep her safe, my dear. I promise I'll be there whenever she needs it, and that she knows your tale, that she understands just how much you loved her. I promise on my life." The woman would continue to show tremendous strength from that day forward, putting her daughter's needs before everything else.

Marie remained in their room, idly filling out papers for the Women's Union of Regalia.

Lazaruz d'Soleil sat in his study the night upon hearing of the news, he wasn't one to usually drink.. But it was on this certain occasion that he opened a bottle of vodka should Tobie ever had come to visit; drinking the liquid slowly as he thought of the man. He'd taken a liking to him ever since they'd met in the Bigge Estate what felt like a lifetime ago. Both were flawed men to say the least yet, perhaps that's what drove them closer when all was said and done..

The man had sworn he'd grown accustomed to the death of those close to him at this point; Yet clearly not. Tears rolling down the eyes of the Bloodcast until early hours of the morning. He wasn't in the mood for resting..

Seriously though, rest in peace Tobie. You were the most lovable prick. <3

A small, irritated huff left the nelfin's lips as the news reached her. Once again, she disappeared towards the attic of her home to cross off yet another name of the long list she had. Finally, after a long while of silence, Katrina gave a shake of her head, uttering quietly to herself.

"Weak and selfish. A combination not uncommon among ailor nowadays."

Discarding her now stump of charcoal, she'd move downstairs, to retrieve some proper parchment. Now for the formalities.

Shane grumbled a bit as he caught wind of the Peirgarten's death. The Claith thought back onto the few encounters he had with the man. The Imperial palace. The Black Tower, where he gave the Claith his own blade to defend a corridor. The moment when he found him without a hand in the Apothecary. Shane thought he would have lived a good life, being able to rest with his family.

"I wonder if he still beat me with the numbers." This was all thaf was said from the Claith, before he took a long swig of rum, followed by another grumble.
