Gallus slid over a document he pulled from a leather folder, pointing at a blank spot at the bottom. "Just sign there, Ser Leopold, and we have an agreement."
Leopold would read over the document quickly, but with care, noting the wording of each sentence. Nodding in satisfaction, he would pick up his pen and scrawl a neat signature at the bottom, then grab a stick of red wax, which he would, with practiced precision melt over a candle, then drip onto the bottom corner of the paper, quickly pressing his signet ring into it.
When the wax hardened, leaving the bold impression of a falcon in flight in the blob of red, it was done.
I, Leopold II Winslough of Ostlaukirchen, do henceforth declare myself and my House a vassal under Lord Gallus Tyrannian of Carroburgen until House Winslough accrues a title equivalent of three title weight, Count or otherwise. We willfully pledge our allegiance to House Tyrannian and furthermore realize his authority over our House for the time being.
Signed,
Leopold II Winslough
Leopold would raise his glass, the other following suit. With a smile he'd softly exclaim "To the future, gentlemen!" As they followed suit and each downed their glasses, Leopold would feel a certain swell of satisfaction at this arrangement. It was going to be a good day.
