Condemnation of the Hochmeister and his Crusaders

May 14th, 308 AC

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓
"It is the duty of the virtuous to convert and protect the lesser beings that need our guidance, not to utterly destroy them in fire"

- Emperor Theomar the Holy, Excerpt from the Fifth Creed of Unionism -
┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛

Before I start, let me be clear. What I disagree with and condemn are the individuals who carry out the crusade and their manner of doing so, not the general purpose of the crusade.

Despite what the man says, Hochmeister and his crusaders have committed three acts of blasphemy.

Their first act of blasphemy: Hochmeister's so-called 'visions of Herons'. Herons are exemplary Unionists in their respective fields, most who are in the Everwatch. They do not, and cannot appear in visions- especially to men like the Hochmeister who's conduct does not deserve any praise; Hochmeister's visions were most likely the effects of a hallucinogenic drug. To claim to have been visited by Herons and to follow those who claim so is blasphemous.

Their second act of blasphemy: Vigilantism. By turning to vigilantism to achieve his goal of ridding the Undercity of filth, they have broken Regalian Law, and by extension, have acted against the Great Way they claim to serve. Their contradictory actions and willingness to act against the Great Way are a clear indication of Hochmeister and his men's lack of faith. If anything, they are using the crusade in an attempt to gain relevance.

Their third act of blasphemy: Violating the Fifth Creed. As Unionists, it is our duty to purge those unconvertable but convert and protect those able to be converted. From what I have gathered, Hochmeister has severely violated the Holy Emperor Theomar's words by slaughtering possible converts who could have helped Regalia step closer to the Great Beyond. Their vile pleasure for blood have impeded the progress of the Great Way as a result.

We as Unionists cannot and should not stand by as men profanely use Unionism as a tool for fame. For these reasons, I denounce Hochmeister and his crusaders and call for the nullification of his crusade.

May the Holy Spirit guide Hochmeister and his men back on the path of the faithful.

"The Words ring true to me, the longer the man causes such chaos the harder conversion of any kind becomes. But we must trust in our fellows, let us raise a glass in prayer", the Lyaeus comments turning to the Evius in deference he asks, "To Paradise and to the Emperor." @Sozzer

William stood at the notice board once again, just moments later from reading a previous notice. His good eye looked upon the page as he slowly read it. He'd nod and speak with a mutter. "The Hochmeister has lost his way. He believes he fights for the Spirit, but truly fights against it for using the name of the Herons for his own personal glory. Time and time again, he has proven he is corrupt deep down. Perhaps he will change, and I'd gladly accept such. For now, he has lost my respect and the respect of many others." He moved away once more, hopefully for the last time for the day. Even week or month if lucky.

"Hold on everyone." Alaric glanced around the room. "Oh, yeah. It's signed by a Kreiburg."
