A Claim On Opportunity

Within the Sewers, especially in the local arena, and in the Undercroft, a message would be posted on the walls for the locals to read.


"The possibility to make something of your skills, the opportunity to create a real reputation,
and the ability to turn your armaments into Regals."

For those reading this note, my name is Shani Wren, your new host and fellow pit fighter.
On this wonderful occasion I am currently staking a claim on the sewer arena for the purpose of creating an official, professional, pit fighting ring in Regalia. Do not be quick to anger, for what I have planned is for the people, for all of you reading this.

The vision I have for the arena is not unlike its current state. It will remain open for anyone and everyone to use. None shall be prohibited from using it. However now, under the management of my pit fighting group, the Stygian Bellicose, everyone will have the opportunity to generate real income, and have a source from which to acclaim professional fame as a fighter.

All will be welcome in this arena, no matter your religion, race, beliefs, or skill sets. The only thing that will matter in this ring, is the fight. Fighters of all kinds are encouraged to test their mettle against other fighters of all varieties. Likewise, all are welcome to join the Stygian Bellicose should you seek to make a career within our arena.

Professional Pit fighting is here! I'll be posting a group thread here very soon with details on fighting dates and times and an application to properly apply for the Stygian Bellicose.

Pinned beneath the notice came a hastily scrawled note, as if cobbled together by a drunken toddler, ink trickling down the page and flowing from one line to the next. Whether or not such was done intentionally for "dramatic" effect, or if the poster of the note truly struggled with such a basic skill was unclear. Tacking the notice to the wall was a wax seal, wearing the indents of a Magpie.
The Arena is a public space. It is owned by no one, a bastion of freedom amidst our dark dank hovel. No issues are seen in the use of this "Fighter's Guild" utilising the Arena, in fact I invite it. Something else to keep the mills of coin churning, and ensure coin never sticks to the same person for too long. But, so long as I breathe, I cannot accept this. It goes without saying that I REJECT and DENOUNCE this claim, and strongly urge for the one responsible of this posts ponders on rewording their announcement. If you continue to declare the Arena as your own, punishment WILL be had. Crookback is a free place. And the Arena most of all.

She looked over the note but didn't see much reason in leaving a reply. Though she did chuckle to herself.
"If he actually read the Bellicose rules he'd know nothing has really changed. When we're not using it we don't even enforce our rules. My 'claim' on it was actually to help spread the word because I knew idiots like him would do stuff like this. All publicity is good publicity." She laughed as she continued on. "Besides, it's only temporary. But people will always be defensive."

A new notice would come out, posted beneath the original announcement.

"Due to some.. thin skinned, power abusive individual who refuses to understand my good intentions for the folks of the sewers, who fails to recognize my 'claim' stopped absolutely no one from using it as they did previously, I have been required to take back said claim on the arena. This changes nothing as our 'claim' didn't hinder any of its previous functions, so the Stygian Bellicose continues on.

Overall, nothing here was accomplished accept the renouncement of a few words that had no consequence on the daily life of the arena users. Congrats to achieving nothing. I hope you're happy.
