After four months' of hybernation and inactivity, house d'Ortonnaise proudly announces the return of the Regalian Duelist League proper. The goal of the league is nothing more than to host fair duels of sportsmanship and compatriotship, and to tally their results for an overarching Regalian leaderboard.

Rules of Participation in the League:

Any eligible combatant needs only to pen a letter to the board of the league filling out this simple form:

They will then be added to the leader-board starting from the bottom, from where they may advance to the top freely through duels.

How to fight a duel?

Simply PM any of the board members when they are online, or send them a forum/skype/discord/facebook/twitter/pigeon post/owl message to arrange for a fight. These don't have to be public events. Most duels will be arranged either in the Fang's Throng, or in the Mitau Palace grounds. ICly, these duels are fought with blunted, practice weapons and armour where applicable.

Additionally, grander events will be held where multiple fights will be hosted in succession with additional entertainment on site for the audience.

The current board members are:

Adrienne d'Ortonnaise @Lady_Ortonnaise (Leader of the board)
Ser Edouard Lambert @R_O_B_E_rt (IG EternallyRobX)

To become a board member, address the leader of the board, Adrienne d'Ortonnaise. The only requirement to become a board member is to be capable of hosting and moderating duels.

Eligibility:

To compete, one has to be:
1. First-Class citizen
2. If not a first class citizen, be part of the Regalian Army
3. Be eligible for concealed carry of a weapon (no criminal background)
4. Acknowledge the rules of competition

You don't need a character application!

Rules of Competition:

1. All duels have to take place on a site legally sanctioned for sparring with dull weapons.
2. All duels have to be overseen and judged by a member of the board.
3. No duelist may conceal their identity.
4. Breach of the rules of competition draws the consequences of being removed and banned from the leader-board and reported to the Regalian Guard authorities.
5. Defeating someone below on the ladder grants two points in the tournament, defeating someone on the same level grants three, defeating someone above grants five. A tie grants one point to the less-prestigious competitor, or if both competitors have the same overall score, no points at all. All duels award a single point to both participants if no rules are breached during the spar.
6. Regalian law has to be followed before, during and after duels. Duelists are removed from the board if they are found to have committed an act of crime, and this is communicated to the board leader. Return to the board and restoration of the score is only possible through a letter of approval by the Lord Commander.

Rules of duels:

1. No opponent may be struck on the ground. Bringing an opponent to the ground grants victory.
2. No strike may be dealt against the groin or the back of the head for reasons of safety.
3. Leaving the defined area of the duel grants the opponent victory.
4. Disarming an opponent grants a victory.
5. Striking the opponent three times grants a victory.
5. Attacks are not only counted until the first strike in a cross of blades, they continue until a holdup is achieved.
6. Any participant may yield at any point during the duel, at which point the opponent has to stop as soon as possible, earning a victory.

OOC Rules of Combat:

Due to popular demand from the old incarnation of the duelist league, duel rules are completely up to participants and the judge present. The judge is present to break OOC fights and to ensure recording of the duel.

The factoring of proficiencies is completely up to the participants as well.

IGN: Gwyndo
Character Name: Mánus of Bhacstair
Combat School: School of Lecgaen
Proficiency level:
Total Proficiency Points: 33
School: Lecgaen
  • 25 Unarmed Wrestling (+10 from School of Lecgaen, +5 from Highlander, +10 from proficiency points)
    • His go-to and favoured style of combat. Mánus is a proficient grappler, able to take most adversaries down to the floor where he can apply his often superior knowledge of ground based fighting to disable his opponent. In an unarmed and one-to-one context, he proves almost insurmountable for those unskilled in the art of grappling.
  • 10 Unarmed Fighting (+10 from School of Lecgaen)
    • When it comes to stand-up fighting, all of Mánus' tactics seek to get the fight into grappling distance. He typically seeks to slip punches or catch kicks, clinching and taking his opponents down with various throws and trips. He will use head-butts, elbows, knees and heavy boots to aid his effectiveness in combat.
  • 10 Acrobatics (+10 from School of Lecgaen)
    • He won't be doing aerials any time soon, but he'll certainly be difficult to run away from for those who aren't physically fit. His sheer athleticism makes him a respectably conditioned runner and climber.
  • 20 Spiked Flail (+10 from agricultural background, +10 from proficiency points)
    • If faced with multiple opponents, Mánus will seek to use a spiked flail or similar chained weapon to bluntly smash his opponents, or at least keep them at bay. He is proficient enough to follow-throw most misses with redirected attacks. In a one on one context, Mánus aims to entangle his opponent's weapon with the chain in order to disable their weapon or even disarm them before closing the distance, where grappling awaits.
  • 10 Short Shield (+10 from The Order of Talent)
    • Mánus' visions under the Aspect of Knowledge gave him insight into a deeper understanding of defense. It is with shield in hand that he was to defend both himself and others of the faith. As his physical strength was already high, Mánus was able to make immediate use of his new understanding and knowledge.
  • 3 Battle Command (+3 from proficiency points)
    • Mánus has never been formally trained as a general, though displays some natural talent and inclination for it. Rather than being sat behind a desk in a relatively safe tent, Mánus would far prefer to be on the front lines beside his fellow warriors, yelling warnings and directions to his allies whilst also throwing insults and slander at his enemies. The loud bellow of his pipes helping to increase his own side's morale, and decrease the enemies. Thing is: it's not always guaranteed everyone will be able to understand him.
