✼ Silence ✼

Silence. The world that Metylda Arya Saye was born into, one of silence. While others heard the birds chirp and wind blowing through leaves, the young ginger heard silence. Silence that tore apart the quaint Saye family within Maudberg. Silence that taught the young ginger to fear the bright crimson from the man who walked out into black and never returned. Silence that weighed heavy on a mother whose cries fell on deaf ears. Eight years of silence that were shattered by a last breath, the only world that the young ginger had known broken apart as her mother's cries ceased.

The young ginger was sent forward into the bustling world alone. Ranging from grays and crimson, the familiar peaceful greens and yellows were long lost, home was gone. Years went by as Metylda learned to adapt to this new world. Mouths moved in rushed tones, colors blurred past with little to no mind to the bob of ginger lost in the crowd. Those that did heed the ginger with raised voices found their sound to fall to silence, sending the young girl hurtling away as the dull grays would shift to angry flaring crimson. Browns mixed with whites as Metylda learned how to navigate this bustling world, adapting to her new reality yet keeping her eyes peeled for any colors that meant change to the young girl.

After twelve long years, the ginger finally stumbled upon something familiar. Familiar colors that she had lost so long ago, yellows and greens once again. It was a field full of the greenest grass she had ever seen. Mixed within the green was yellow, tall and proud Palomino's grazed peacefully. This is where Metylda finally found her place, the Bloodcast Orders pastures. The sun traveled across the sky, changing from the bright blue to the familiar crimson that signified darkness was coming soon. Metylda spent the entire day with the Palomino horses, finding peace in watching them breath, watching them move as a herd, and watching them relax. The equids paid little mind to the child that had invaded their space, finding the deaf girl understood their peace. As the herd began to move homeward bound, the young girl saw the horrid grays and crimson creeping closer, so she followed the familiar colors.

The Palominos continued through the green grass until a looming gray building came into view. This caused the young girl to pause in her tracks, backpedaling as silver and crimson came into view. She would have turned to run, however the silver and crimson figure held up a hand, removing the silver from their head as golden hair tumbled from concealment. A gentle blue shone from the gold as the silver hand extended towards the girl, beckoning her closer. This crimson was different from the raging crimson she had encountered over the years. It wasn't until the Palomino's approached the figure that she made her way forward with the beings she had grown to trust and understand. Soon she was whisked away into the gray walls, though once inside she realized it was filled with an array of warm and welcoming colors, she had found a home.

Years passed as the ginger grew and became accustomed to the new array of colors. The beings behind the colors treated her with kindness, often radiating with golds, blues, and greens. The peace found in this new home was not always sound, much like her past home. At times the angry crimson would bleed into the home as knights and their beasts alike returned from harsh missions. In the first few years, Metylda would hide from this crimson, hating both the smell and sight of it. As she grew more mature and observed those clothed in white throughout the camp, she realized they often would make the horrid crimson fade away. At the age of fourteen, she demanded to learn more about how to banish away the crimson and colors she loathed. It wasn't until the age of sixteen that her demands were met and the deaf girl stepped forward to face the colors that had haunted her childhood years. It wasn't easy, but soon she began to learn how she could manipulate and control the colors around her, making the horrid crimson vanish from those she cared for and drawing the horrid crimson from those that radiated darkness.

On her twenty-first birthday as the sun rose, Metylda stood outside to watch the darkness ebb away and explode into the land of color she had learned to accept and love. The sunrise today seemed to bring even brighter colors than before, a promise of the future and what was to come to the woman. As her ascension to knighthood was achieved and she had overcome her past, she stepped forward to follow the path the sun lit up, it was time to make her own legacy in Regalia. She had learned that she was not truly born into a world of cold silence, but rather a world full of warm colors waiting for her to discover more and guide others to find the colors themselves.
