Insani is a faction made up of players from both the roleplay and pvp/survival community whose goal is just to have fun and take a less serious approach to MassiveCraft. (Current Lore) "Stability spiraled out of control for the nation when Theon, the Prince of Insani, opened the bible of Chet. Upon learning what the inquisition told him was a lie, he fled the nation, being chased by Inquisition bounty hunters. Theon fled to Regalia, where he met a young lady named Alessandra fighting a bear in a pit. The two instantly bonded and fled together, under pursuit of the bounty hunters. Coincidentally, Mathias Terro was in the great city of Regalia at the same time as Theon, and recognized the boy. Mathias fortunately followed the boy, and found him under attack by the bounty hunters, and decided to kill them and protect the couple. The couple returned to Insani to reunite their nation once more, uniting both Insani and the Desert Jewel, and rebuilding the fallen Republic." (306 AC) Roleplay & Lore Many of Insani's members are passionate about our very own faction roleplay, which includes our very own religions, knighthood orders, noble families, and more. We try to keep our roleplay compliant to Regalia, however, most of our faction roleplay events don't involve Regalia. Feel free to jump right into our roleplay with either any of your characters (or character) or you can make a new one. Insani has many noble families, and most of them are recruiting new family and staff members. Spoiler: Insani Lore: Timeline 274 AC - A wealthy noble is exiled from his home nation after being framed of treason against the state, fleeing to a small village he ruled in the mostly empty savannahs of New Ceardia. What would seem like a relatively minor event to some would, given time, be the humble beginnings of a vast new empire that would stretch across much of Aloria. This noble was Vyse Athius, and while he at the time had no ambitions to rule any grand empire, he would certainlyset the foundations for just that. 275 AC - But a few months after Vyse's exile, his former homeland decided that he and his fledgling nation could become a threat in the future, and needed to be eradicated. A considerable military detatchment, with orders for Vyse's head and his town to be captured, arrived at the gates and prepared to make siege. Vyse however, knowing full well that both a siege or a direct face off would end disasterous for him, decided that cunning diplomacy was his only option. Through over a month of tense negotiation, cool heads managed to prevail, and Vyse was relieved of any charges against him, with the army directing itself home. Vyse however would choose to remain independent, feeling betrayed by his former home and choosing to stay with his fragile dominion. 275-285 AC - The 'Decade of Prosperity' under Vyse. His lands would grow both in size and fortune, forging alliances and making deals, however also attracting the eyes of neighbouring adversaries who saw an opportunity to expand. The Tree of Insanium, a monument of sorts to the Old Gods of Insani, is also established here (for lore's sake, the Kingdom is named after the tree/religion) 285 AC - Vyse Athius, on his deathbed, acclaims his 16 year old son Ronaen as his successor. The boy, like his father, was a cunning strategist and skilled politician; his Kingdom on the other hand was still small and frail, and he intended to keep changing this. He appointed his brother Denaren as his right-hand man to help him rule, and his two friends Claus Aalto and Dradicis Nemzo (both of Noble blood like himself) to high ranking positions - Claus manned home affairs, specifically to do with the economy, while Dradicis would deal with foreign affairs , specifically to do with the military. 285-287 AC - Only weeks after Ronaen's rise to power, the warmongerous empire of Victalia would launch an invasion of the Kingdom (Now running under the name of Insani, a name informally used by Vyse that had now become official under under his son Ronaen. Ronaen also found himself having a child, named Theon Athius.). Victalia was large and powerful, yet extremely unstable politically - it ruled over numerous violent minorities who would very soon enter open revolt and stretch Victalia's resources thin. At first, it seemed like defeat was inevitable and Ronaen could only hope to slow them down. His successfully did this for several months, harassing Victalian forces and opportunistically taking them on. The tides turned with two events; Ronaen, astonishingly, managed to encircle and decisively defeat the Victalian expeditionary force that had been sent to fight him. This lead to numerous other forces, both within and around Victalia, setting a plan into motion - while none of them actively joined Insani in war, they did support rebellion and uprisings within Victalia itself with weapons and training. This both distracted and, inevitably, crippled Victalia. After a few more months of re-organisation, Ronaen would lead an army into the heartland of Victalia. Here he won a decisive victory, and shortly after the entirety of the Victalian Empire capitulated. Insani moved in to restore order and take their reward for victory. To provide future stability in the region, Ronaen promised many of the minorities their own states (under Insani influence, of course), which they accepted. Insani had finally entered the world stage as a major power. The Kingdom of Insani becomes the Imperium of Insani, with Ronaen crowned as its Caesar. 288 AC - An Insani expedition to Northern Ithania leads to the conquest and occupation of a former Victalian territory. Here Insani's first - and only - territory not in New Ceardia is established. This land ends up becoming known as 'The Promised Land', and will very soon end up having a key role in Insani. 291-292 AC - After 3 years of attempting to subjugate their vast new holdings in Victalia, everything begins to enter a downwards spiral. Revolts from local lords and urban city dwellers alike open up in protest to Insani rule. One 'wonderful' poor harvest and brutal winter later, protest turns into rebellion, and the empire (with some involvement from outside forces perhaps) ends up in flames. This ends with an invasion of the Insani homeland and the sacking of their capital, with the Tree of Insanium turned into a golden-orange torch and most of Insani's nobles (and any other loyalists to the crown) fleeing to the rather calm territories of the Promised Land in Ithania, and taking most of the empire's wealth - as well as a sapling of the Tree of Insanium - with them. Caesar Ronaen, however, flees into a year long exile, where he travels the world to cleanse his mind and forget not only the horrors of what he has been forced to witness, but to cope with the loss of most of his Empire. He leaves Claus and Dradicis in charge in his absence, and the two get to work in turning the colony into a prosperous society. It is worth noting, however, that some of the independent minority states under Insani influence, and certain Insani vassals, also remain loyal to the crown and await the Caesar's return. 292 AC - While travelling to Regalia in his exile, Ronaen met a beautiful elf commoner called Aerwyna. He spent a long time with her in the city, and the two fell in love. Ronaen and Aerwyna married in Regalia, and upon their return to Insani she would be officially crowned Caesaris. 293 AC - The Caesar makes his return to the new Insani in Ithanian Promised Lands, where he founds the modern Insani Inquisition. Here the formation of the current state of Insani is built; the Rights of the Common are written, the Noble Assembly is established to provide a new stable governance, and the new capital is set in the Athius Estates (now known as the Insani Academy). The new Tree of Insanium is planted here, however the Caesar begins to lay out plans for a capital city of his own design - this city will become known as Inquisitor's Bay. 293-303 AC - Insani's 'Second Decade of Prosperity'. Insani's new mainland is well isolated, and while this means it is secure from the threat of major empires, it also means it has to look elsewhere to expand its holdings. First the Empire looks to the rest of Ithania. In 297 AC, the mountainous city of Tihr is seized by Insani forces and become a key possession for the expansion of Insani further north. A year later, the province of Vertico is established upon conquered ground in an Ithanian desert (Along the coast, of course) and the land is given to Claus. In 299 AC, the Kingdom of Cross enters the Inquisition originally as a vassal Kingdom, but is slowly integrated so that by the time of the Red Tyranny it is an official part of the Inquisition itself. 294 AC - The Archduchy of Letiate - ruled over by the Ailemer family and their leader Archduke Jeffery Ailemer - decides to join the Insani Inquisition. Within a few short years the family arguably became the second most powerful family in Insani after the Athius Dynasty themselves, only to lose it all again in an equally short length of time. 295 AC - In the port city of Lamplight, after multiple failed harvest and terrible disease outbreak, a peasant's revolt occurs. Thousands are killed, and many of the city's Upper Class and Merchants flee the city. To retake the city, the help of an outside power is requested. Insani steps in as a mediating force, negotiating with the revolutionaries to reform Lamplight while letting the merchants and upper class return (and rule again). In return for this, Insani establishes a Protectorate over the city (making it the largest city in the Inquisition at the time even after multiple years of suffering) and gains exclusive trading rights form it. Like the Kingdom of Cross, it too would be slowly integrated into the Inquisition. With two short exceptions, Lamplight remains prosperous and peaceful - atleast militarily - up until the present day. 296 AC - The County of Elysium, ruled over by a certain William Silverthorne (a former Lamplight merchant and relatively low noble) decides to join the Insani Inquisition after a short year of independence thanks to links with the city of Lamplight, which is already a protectorate of Insani. 300 AC - The turn of the century is a time for huge celebration in Insani. Within a breath-takingly short time of 7 years it has gone from a broken Empire to a major power once again. The nation is exercising influence well beyond its own borders, and the future capital of Inquisitor's Bay - set to one day become one of the great cities of all Aloria, even rivalling the Holy City of Regalia itself - is under construction. 301 AC - The Kingdom of Kesite, a long-term ally and region of influence from Insani, decides to officially join the Inquisition. This is a territory ruled over by King Matthew Terro, a high standing friend of Ronaen Athius. The two men met back in the days of the war between Insani and Victalia (with Kesite being one of the rebelling territories under the rule of Victalia at the time), and at the end of the war, Kesite became a very pro-Insani nation formed from the ruins of Victalia. Matthew had taught Ronaen a lot - especially on the topic of combat and military tactics - and the two remained close friends to this day. Kesite was only finally joining Insani as Matthew had decided to step back from direct rule to follow his own path, and as such Ronaen took over personally to keep affairs under control. 303 AC - The year of the infamous Red Tyranny. Kain Ailemer, cousin of Jeffery Ailemer, Baron of Teroyis and highly aspiring noble hosts a party within the Athius Estates. Much of Insani's nobility, including the Caesar himself, attend. Kain, however, had a vast plan for a coup laid out. He had trained a grand army, bought the loyalty of many nobles and, to hasten the process, spiked the Caesar's drink at the party with toxins. When the Caesar dropped to the floor (believed dead at the time) Kain's coup was set into action. His forces struck, capturing the nobles attending the party and seizing both the Athius Estates and Inquisitor's Bay within hours. Most of the Athius family was captured, as were many other nobles. William Silverthorne, Count of Elysium, was killed trying to resist captured, however his daughter Asta made a close escape with Jeffery Ailemer, where she would sign herself and Elysium up to the resistance. Other nobles like Claus would also escape, however most would not join the resistance - they would instead declare 'neutrality' and support the resistance from the sidelines. Lamplight would also fall into Kain's hands, with its Governers declaring loyalty to him and allowing him to send troops over to them to keep the city from falling into resistance hands. Kain had himself crowned Caesar-Tyrant of Insani, and then then turned to crush the resistance. This became known as the Insani 'Civil War', with Kain's Red forces facing off against the resistance's Blues. Ronaen, believed killed, managed to escape into exile in one of the Insani vassals, where he began the training of an army to retake his empire. The Red Tyranny had begun. A notable battle of the Red Tyranny was the First Siege of Letiate. Using nearby Teroyis as a base of operations, Kain launched an offensive to try and swiftly sever the head of the rebellion. This turned into a multi-month slog until, after a battle at the gates, the Red army was forced on the back-foot. The Blues chased them to Teroyis, and the resulting battle ended with the destruction of vast portions of the Barony, losing Kain his only realistic possibility of taking Letiate and ending the resistance. After four months of stalemate between Red and Blue forces (the Reds proved incapable to break the Blue naval defense around Teled Methen, however the Blues did not have a strong or large enough army to take down the entirety of Red Insani themselves). At this crucial hour for both sides, Ronaen made his return; a daring raid into the heart of Red Insani to liberate many of the nobles held prisoner by Kain. This went off successfully, and a week later Free Insani forces led by Ronaen marched on the Athius estates, in a move to open the way to Inquisitor's Bay. In a horrifically flawed attempt to decisively end the war, Kain ordered not only a scorched earth policy in and around the Athius Estates, but also a final attempt to seize Letiate and end the Blues. The siege of Letiate ended in failure for the Reds, with Kain's best general Godwin (along with most of the army) being captured. This was followed up by two pro-Athius victories: Ronaen's victory at the Athius Estates, liberating them after most of Kain's forces refused to burn the place and defected to Ronaen; and the liberation of Lamplight, where a force made up of soldiers from Letiate and Elysium swiftly took back the city, defeating its small garrison with just a day of fighting. The war was concluded with the Battle of Inquisitor's Bay; Ronaen's Free Insani forces joined up with Jeffery's Blue Ailemer troops and stormed the city. Ronaen himself would kill Kain in a duel on the battlefield, ending the Red Tyranny and finally restoring the Athius Dynasty to the crown of Insani. To prevent future instability, most former Red supporters were let off lightly, and those whom supported Ronaen were extravagantly rewarded. 304 AC - The Inquisition, however, struggled to recover from the Red Tyranny. The economy had suffered from 5 months of deadlock, rebuilding was slowly going ahead and political instability was rife in the government, who were trying to fix all of these issues but being met with failure. Jeffery Ailemer, now one of Insani's most influential men and a growing opponent of House Athius, began to try and organise multiple noble families against the Athius House to 'enact numerous reforms', these included the end to Athius reign over the Empire, political reform to 'bring greater stability' and moving the capital to Letiate, a city he claimed was 'the most stable city in Insani, and the obvious choice for a capital'. Ronaen was furious at these remarks, and a diplomatic conflict ensued between the Athius and Ailemer Houses. This would end with the Ailemer decided Insani could do nothing more for him, and he declared all Ailemer-ruled and alligned territories independent. In Letiate, he went on to establish the 'Kingdom of Erloven' with himself as overruling monarch. Ronaen couldn't accept this, and sent a force of 4 ships, including both diplomats and military personell, to Letiate to try and negotiate. Jeffery took this as an insult, opening fire on the ships as they tried to enter port. After a pitched naval stand-off, the superior Ailemer force overwhelmed the Naval Envoy, capturing both the ships and the persons onboard. This event formally became known as the 'Erloven Crisis' and would become a cause of official war between Insani and Erloven. Jeffery lead the first move - he launched an Erloven force straight to the Insani capital of Inquisitor's Bay, hoping the capture of the city would force Ronaen to sue for terms. He also decided to send a small detatchment of warships to blockade his neighbouring Duchy of Elysium after House Silverthorne declared its loyalty to the crown. Insani forces, after a fortnight-long battle to defend Inquisitor's Bay, would drive off the attempted invasion; likewise, the forces of Elysium would break the blockade upon their territory with the cunning use of coastal artillery and merchant raids. A month later, using Elysium as a jump-off point, Insani forces would assault Letiate. The battle would be one of the bitterest - and most expensive - battles in Insani's history. A naval battle outside Letiate Port cost both sides many ships (but ultimately ended with an Insani victory). This would be followed up by a coast bombardment lasting multiple hours, slaughtering hundreds of civillians and setting parts of the city ablaze. Insani's force, once landed, had to fight vicious urban warfare through each street, clearing each house, all the way to the Ailemer residence. When Erloven forces were finally cleared out (most Ailemers did escape and flee into exile, but Jeffery was killed in the fighting) the city was sacked and set ablaze by angered soldiers who had lost far too many comrades in the city. While the Erloven Crisis/Rebellion was ended here, most were shocked by the outcome of this battle. Letiate was abandoned by Insani after the war, no longer being worth rebuilding, while most citizens of the ruined shell of a city decided to re-settle in other parts of Insani - Elysium, thanks to its proximity, proved not only easiest to get to, but most welcoming to any of these refugees, and tens of thousands of former citizens of Letiate migrated there. 305 AC - Whilst the Red Tyranny and Erloven Crisis have cost Insani much in recent years, it has rebuilt itself stronger than ever before. With the Ailemer's collapse into obscurity (and also hatred, after Insani War Propaganda painted them as villainous traitors) new noble houses have arisen. House Silverthorne, a young but wealthy financial and commercial based house who rule over the now Viceregality of Elysium, has prospered in recent years - loyalty to the crown earning them power and influence, and the wars giving them a chance to finance militarization and reconstruction to their own benefit. House Hath is another young, emerging great power - a supplier of the finest potions and medical supplies in the entire Empire, obviously an enterprise which could do well in war-time. Old powers, like House Aalto, still remain strong and influential, with Claus remaining one of Ronaen's most powerful allies, trustworthy advisers and loyal friends. House Athius, led by the Caesar Ronaen himself, holds onto its power over Insani and has reformed the Empire greatly after the instability of the previous couple of years. The biggest event of the year so far was the Cult of Sythos' (they claim to be a religion, but that is to be... questioned) attempted power grab in Lamplight, holding the city - and several nobles such as Maria Hath - hostage for a couple of weeks, until Insani forces managed to stumble their way through each other and end the insurrection. However, with growing power came an even faster growing responsibility. Ronaen Athius was faced with several decisions toward the end of the year, such as the nation deciding to conform into a Republic, giving Insani respect by many of Aloria's citizens, or the most important decision being whether or not Insani should join the campaign for Hadar, also known as the Crisis of Kings. The first months of the campaign for Hadar went smoothly for the nation, gaining many new vassals and friends, one of those friends being the Viscounty of Rauru. As the friendship between the two nations grew, declaring themselves sister nations, the relationship between the two leaders also expanded. Insani ended off the year strong and united, winning a month of Hadar, however their new found power wouldn't last long. 306 AC - Wars broke out all through out Hadar, leaving Insani finding itself fighting a war on multiple fronts between the nations of Belegost, Valorian, and Wyvern. Insani's troops were stretched thin, and Ronaen was left under great stress and pressure. As time passed, Insani started to grow weaker due to its lack of troops and ability to defend its lands from so many enemy forces, and the countries failures made way for the sowing of discontent between the nations influential powers, such as Ronaen's right hand man and General, Mathias Terro. About a month into the downfall of Insani, when Insani found itself in a coalition with Wyvern to defeat Valorian once and for all, was the wedding between Ronaen Athius and Jareth Luvenis. As monumental as this day would be, it didn't go the way Ronaen and many of his people imagined, as a slaughter was planned during the service, led by none other then Mathias Terro and Wyvern. The slaughter left dozens of citizens dead and Ronaen and his bride safe, but in shock. The country would grief as Ronaen disappeared during the event, expecting to be killed in the battle of Inquisitor's Bay. About a month later, Ronaen returned to Insani, locking himself away in Erloven Castle and declaring himself to be King of Insani. Citizens of Insani realized that Ronaen was not the same man he once was, he was now a somber and cold shell of the bright and respected leader he used to be. The citizens of Insani finally decided to take action, when foreign invaders were moving in on Lamplight, the last remaining city still in control by Insani that had not been burnt to the ground. Ronaen locked himself in Erloven Castle, along with one of his sons, Torren Athius, and his remaining garrison, whom betrayed the remaining Athius', killing them and throwing them off their own castle, surrendering control of Lamplight to the foreigners. However, Ronaen's youngest and least notable son, Theon Athius, a lieutenant in the Insani military, along with his cousin Antonia Athius and best friend Silvanus Aalto, were able to escape the fall of Insani, which split the survivors into several different countries, some who became hostile to one another, and ventured forth into the new frontier, Essalonia, in hope to pave a better future for the nation. After months of hard work and labor, Insani once again became a stable and strong power in Essalonia, finally eliminating any remaining usurpers who wished to destroy House Athius, and forming a new alliance with a nation who was once their rival. The rise back into power was not easy, and was facilitated by the reappearance of the Insani Inquisition, which has been announced the official organization ruling over Insani, headed by Theon himself. The two nations, Insani and Wyvern, have declared war on the rest of Essalonia, in order to distribute justice among the land for the sin of mankind in the name of Chet. 307 AC - Stability spiraled out of control for the nation when Theon, the Prince of Insani, opened the bible of Chet. Due to Insani being a close, tight-knit community of friends, we have decided to share our resources, creating a large vault for all its members to use. However, members are also given homes to store their personal belongings and decorate it as they please. We plan to host roleplay events frequently, as we had before on the old server, however, as of now, Insani does not plan to join Crisis of Kings shall it return. Many roleplaying spots are available to members, including castles, a large tavern, a chapel, and many more in the works. We also PvP frequently if you wish to partake in raids and defense. The senate of Insani, led by the chosen chancellor, can vote on decisions regarding the country. If the senate of nine votes 3/4th in favor, the suggested subject is passed. My current main strength is Alchemy, currently mctop alchemist and able to produce potions nobody else can, an edge over the competition for now.
