Copies of this notice would be sent throughout the entirety of Regalia, stamped with both the sigil of House Von Karlisle, and the Hallowed Hand Inquisition.

My
name is Lady Rhiannon von Karlisle, and I'm a concerned citizen, scholar, and physician. I have noticed how polarized the concept of Medicine has become in this city. The honorable study of Medicine has stood tall and firm, whereas a group of harlequins have chosen to make an open mockery of an honorable practice that I have proudly devoted my life to. The Science of Medicine has been around for ages, be it the discovery of the infamous and now mass-produced Rubyflower, or the discovery of Fireweeds outstanding antiseptic capabilities. We continue to discover more from the world that was given to us, and about ourselves as anatomical specimens. Evolution is the base belief of Science, and at times it can take years, but… The more advanced we become, the faster our ascension. Technology has been an equally developing talent in relation to Medicine. Now, I see people asking their injured compatriots; "Would you like Magical or Mundane care?" While I firmly believe in the tenant of patient consent, but I cannot fathom why you would openly deceive your patients for what abuse you would conduct on them... Unless you didn't know, to which I hope this encourages you to pick up some textbooks and aspire the TRUE Medical profession and actually help people. In this denouncement, I will be informing, shaming, and correcting this group of people causing more harm than good.

I will first remind everyone reading, that pulling, harnessing, or summoning energies and or entities from other dimensions is an act that corrupts not only the mind and soul of the user, but the physical body as well. To explain it in simple terms for all readers to understand. Our world is meant to keep science and our energy within it. With the entry of vile forces and dimensions, our bodies intermingle with said energies, and they alter us. Sometimes, all it takes is a single spell, a single communication with these opportunistic beings, or even a light experiment of the energies that are behind the veil of our reality. You, dear reader must cease this foolish act. You are poisoning your own being. Our bodies are so fragile, that even the slightest exposure COULD produce PERMANENT MUTATIONS unable to be exorcised. That groundwork laid, can you predict what can occur if you choose to utilize foreign energies to mend wounds? Sure, they can be quick and very convenient, but lingering essence is very real. Your body's blood is possibly altering and you wouldn't even know. It could spread like a corruption until your entire being has succumbed to these evil forces. One thing I have learned, is that borrowing energies from the other dimensions, that there is always a price, a toll, a tax. You are paying for convenience. Patience is a virtue. To those who have trained and practiced to harness outer forces to help and heal your fellow man, I hope you know the damnation you have given every patient you have abused and tainted with your "skills". You have made MY job much more difficult.

Now, it is time to regard the honorable study of medicine, the one designed to help us, and mend our wounds. The one of chemicals and elements we actively encounter and can see in the world we live in. Our bodies are naturally acclimated to the elements of this world, and we can utilize them to accelerate our recoveries. Sure, there are chemicals our bodies aren't designed to handle, but there are always was to reverse engineer their chemical makeup to benefit us. We have a dominion over this world that we cannot deny, a dominion that doesn't have room for other entities. Another lovely mention for medicine, is the extensive training of anatomy and physiology that is required. Memorizing every bone in the body, and every muscle, every organ, organ-system, and its finer details. This is something that is left to 'interpretation' with magic care. Magic doesn't know biology, and it is rather evident, given how harmful it is to those who experience it.

This is a wake up call, Arcane Vectors; stop damaging beautiful bodies.

May Taal cleanse what I can't,

Lady Rhiannon von Karlisle,

You are correct in your observation that dedication to the field of medicine and its practitioners are often gone under-appreciated, and I applaud you for reminding us readers that it still exists as a viable method for the treatments of ailments, injuries and disease.

What I must however repudiate are your allegations against the practice of magic to rehabilitate injuries and treat illness. As a Dogmatic Unionist, but even more so as a former pupil of the Medical Academy of Eotranna, you should be knowledgeable that magic does infact, whether you like it or not, have a place in medical treatment.

It is known history that the Nursing God-Guide Eotranna, whose academy as previously mentioned you were enrolled at, was a practitioner of magic. While there is indeed an important acknowledgement to be made that Eotranna's magic is thought to have been derived from Unionism itself, it is equally important that you made no effort to distinguish between the different forms of magic.

Furthermore, while I would never accuse you of publishing this article in bad faith and clear bias, it would be immensely appreciated if you would be able to cite studies from students of the arcane as well as accredited professors and alchemists of mundane medicine other than yourself which document the inherent detrimental qualities that come about from using magic for good.

His Lordship, Markus Delmotte, Count of Bastadon

Lady Rhiannon von Karlisle,

I have taken the liberty of carefully reading through your missive to the public as it is concerning to someone of my own class, as a formally trained medical practitioner and spiritually trained magic practitioner. I will take the time to quote where you have gone wrong and carefully, yet briefly explain to you why that is the case, in an effort to put to rest incorrect information being spread by your postings.

The honorable study of Medicine has stood tall and firm, whereas a group of harlequins have chosen to make an open mockery of an honorable practice that I have proudly devoted my life to. The Science of Medicine has been around for ages …

It is evident that your biggest claims are that magic has somehow weakened the infrastructure of the medical field, when in fact it has strengthened it by providing quick, affordable, and on-the-spot care for patients that need it, especially within stages of active combat. Never mind the fact the medicine has hardly been around longer than magic, if you are at least considering the formal setting of medical practice, rather than citing prehistoric eras of spit and sage salves.

I will first remind everyone reading, that pulling, harnessing, or summoning energies and or entities from other dimensions is an act that corrupts not only the mind and soul of the user, but the physical body as well … Our bodies are so fragile, that even the slightest exposure could produce permanent mutations unable to be exorcised.

It is within this statement that I realize you are not writing for the benefit of helping others, but rather fear mongering towards those that do not understand the finer workings of both magic and medicine, as you too clearly do not. Any novice researcher of the Occult can easily understand that magic does not work through entities of other dimensions and rather essence, which does not linger, let alone possess. It is of my understanding that you have possibly mixed your notes of demonology into this argument as an attempt of painting magic to be corrosive to the soul, when it is hardly such in the minor increments needed for healing spells; and while there is some evidence that Magic can produce unnatural and unwanted mutations, this percentage of occurrences is slight enough that it would be the same as telling patients to not use Roughvine due to one individual facing a lethal allergic reaction from it.

Sure, they can be quick and very convenient, but lingering essence is very real. Your body's blood is possibly altering and you wouldn't even know.

This could be argued about anything. Please provide undeniable evidence of such. You continue throughout the rest of your document to insist on things that "may" be occurring, which is a tactic used by those that do not have evidence of their beliefs. There is not a single quote, statistic, or otherwise proof of what you say to have any backing, outside of your personal belief. I, on the other hand, know first-person precisely about the matter because I am both a graduated medical professional and a Witch, which allows me the position to say that I have never seen or experienced any of the traumatic symptoms which you list down as a possibility.

I hope you know the damnation you have given every patient you have abused and tainted with your "skills". You have made my job much more difficult.

Again, provide evidence of abuse. There are very few patients that leave Magical Healing with complications or complaints, which are not too faced within the mundane community of doctors. Not to mention it is undoubtedly insulting to insinuate that an individual lacks any skills at all by healing with magic, since it still requires a fundamental understanding of anatomy. Nonetheless, there are countless more insistences of medical malpractice found within Mundane practices throughout history, dating from simply mistakes of medical students on live patients to individuals being used as test subjects.

This is a wakeup call, Arcane Vectors; stop damaging beautiful bodies.

It is with due hope that no bodies are laid to rest due to your negligence by spreading false information on the specifics of magic healing, especially when you cannot even fully differentiate between what is Spellcasting or Demonic in nature. You are blinded by greed, jealousy, and tangible self-esteem issues in the belief that your job has been threatened by other practitioners of a different field.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

"It's starling, the amount of times possible, might, and assumption are utilized in this work. If I recall, scientists and doctors pride themselves on what can be verified, tested, and given credence through experimentation and analysis. I do not see that here," Commented Caan as she set the paper down, "Besides, by this logic the Hallowed hand should praise the Talomancy of the Vanir or of any Aloria based pantheon. Are these not 'natural beings' which are of the same substance, to go off this logic, as we're?"

"Having said that, I doubt the Doctor would hesitate to commend the Dogmatic Talomancers for their healing without natural medicine. While perhaps condemning the Old Gods Talomancers for attempting the same."

To Lady Rhiannon von Karlisle, and any who share their sentiments,

How dare you. How large an ego you must have to use the art of healing as a means to attack, and to justify your blatant disregard for life, your bigoted stances, and your utter lack of respect for the craft. Magic may harm this world, but so does every lost life. Any mage who has contributed to the preservation of life deserves the title of healer, despite their flaws.

It is ever a strange thing, to call the Chrysant War and the following subjugation and enslavement of Allar alchemists as the 'Discovery' of the medicinal uses for Rubyflower and Fireweed, as you have stated. To remind you and any other similar fools who reads this, if not for the Allar, the alchemies we give freely to the Empire and the work of the Perpustakaan Besar, you would still be chewing weeds and drinking strange teas from Anglian Witches, not Rubyflower elixirs.

I have always looked past such slights as have many other Allar about the city. All for the sake of the Empire. The Allar look forward, but this does not mean we forget our past, and for you to despoil our work to justify your ideas, your twisted faith so rooted in death and misery. I denounce it. You do not deserve alchemy, you do not deserve the title of healer. Your hypocrisy is too great and the pain you bring is far beyond any good you have brought to this world.

You are no healer. You are an egotist with a thread and needle.

I see far more Magical healers willing to provide healing to the poor and unsheltered people of Regalia. For no cost.

If you want to pursue a 'TRUE Medical profession,' then start by actually healing the people who need it: the people who have nothing to give.
