~The Gochni Imperial Shipping and Postal Guild~
~A brief history~
The Gochni Imperial Post was created by Fimbur Gochni as a way to speed the path of messages, packages and mail. The main priority being safety and security of the documents. It has been in business for several years now, and is in a thriving niche. Recently a post office was purchased behind the Golden Willow as well. On the other hand, the shipping branch of the business was formed much earlier. Beginning in 63 AC, Thorvald Gochnirs created the "Gochnirs' Shipping Consortium" a small coalition of a few dwarvish vessels. Nowadays though, the fleet has expanded to include six modern ships, outfitted with extended cargo holds. The Shipping Consortium eventually merged with the postal service, and today boasts itself as a sole supplier of a plethora of Regalian Businesses.
-Composition-
The ranks are composed of everything from organizers to the couriers themselves.
The mail service uses a selection of roads and rest stations along with numerous post offices. The mail can travel up to a hundred miles in a day, using a relay of horses, and ships.
However, currently it only operates within the borders of the Empire, along with certain ports in Essalonia, Ellador and Daendroque.
This small limitation has in fact brought more prosperity to the company, due to easier concentration on the Archipelago in particular.
+Workers+
The Company hires almost anyone, but prefers dwarves, nelfin and humans. The main jobs offered are primarily couriers to deliver the mail, but also post office managers, and even hired muscle to defend high-priority shipments. On the shipping half of the business, dockhands are a high priority, along with your rank-and-file sailors.
Current positions offered are:
(Postal)
Courier - Deliver messages from here to there, the main face of the Company (Expect low IC pay but high role play)
Letterguard - A letterguard is just that, a guard who defends the higher priority shipments, on a more regular basis, they offer protection to the Owner, Fimbur Gochni. (Expect medium IC pay but high PQ involvement)
Office Worker - These are the true bread and butter of the Postal Guild, armed with a pen, they go to war against the forces of chaos. They also happen to route couriers. (Expect medium IC pay but low RP involvement, with the exception of certain events)
(Shipping)
Dockworkers - These are the unloaders and loaders of ships. The heavily muscled men you always see in taverns. The Dockworkers are an integral part of the Shipping process, but one slightly less known to the public. (Expect low IC pay and moderate role play opportunities)
Representatives - These are the noble men who fight for the rights of the company. Charged with aquiring new sources of income and being the new face of the company. (Expect medium IC pay and high roleplay oppurtinities)
Sailors - These are the men of the sea, cutlass in hand, fighting off a horde of vicious sea-dogs. The reality is a good bit less romatic than that, but no less important. They are charged with the delivering of goods, from one place, to another. (Expect medium IC pay and high PQ opportunities)
=Process=
"But how do I actually send my letters?" I hear you ask desperately. Well, thankfully for you, the answer is streamlined and simple.
There is two different ways to get your message delivered. One, go to a registered Gochni Imperial Post office, where there is commonly a manager on duty, wherein you simply hand in your letter with a Tenpenny surcharge. Or you can go directly to the couriers, who helpfully wear deep blue jackets, embroidered with a golden "F", there you would simply give them your letter, and specify an address for where it is to be delivered, you will be charged a regal tenpenny. On the Shipping side of the business, it is even simpler. You may either head to the Gochni office (location stated above) and create an appointment or simply wait for a Gochni representative to come to you.
