The 1st Imperial Reconnaissance is the d'Ortonnaise managed & owned general staff and related military personnel within the Imperial Army, responsible for counter-espionage, military intelligence, reconnaissance and expeditionary campaigns under the current legislation. The corps accepts anybody seeking military service in the wars of Regalia and prides itself as one of the (if not the) most well-organised parts of the Imperial Military.

Uniform & Colours
Members of the 1st Reconnaissance general staff are expected to don their ceremonial uniforms for all parades and occasions. All members will be provided their respective uniform (( OOC skin )) and will have their skins maintained and updated proper as they progress in ranks.
The base uniform includes breeches, a waistcoat, a long dark-magenta military coat, silver & golden trimps where appropriate and a pair of black military shoes, as well as a ruffled tie. The uniform is made of heavy wool and should withstand scratches, falls, deflect lesser cuts and provide ample padding against blunt weapons. Female members of the 1st Reconnaissance may choose to wear either a skirt or breeches, whereas male members are expected to don only the latter.
When on the field of battle (and the non-staff in general), members of the 1st Reconnaissance wear their non-ceremonial uniforms which are light-grey pants or skirts with dark green tunics, coats or waistcoats depending on the roles they fulfil. The reasoning behind is fairly simple: the green & grey outfit provides some well-needed uniformity and a small degree of concealment at the same time, while the colours are also far cheaper and easier to clean.
As addition to this, each battalion is split between proper equipment, which is defined as the specialised items forming the individual platoons.
Each infantry battalion is made of 8 platoons, an assortment of Épéistes (swordsmen with shield), Piquiers (pikemen), Arbalétriers (crossbowmen), Tirailleurs (skirmishers armoured light with bow & arrow, as well as arming sword) and Infanterie (heavy infantry).
Each cavalry squadron is assigned to a specific infantry battalion. The cavalry are split between the Cuirassiers (heavy cavalry), the Chasseurs (mounted infantry), the Huissars (light cavalry) and the Lanciers (lancers).
As addition to these, each infantry battalion also carries their respective & allocated artillery, grouped into batteries of horse (limbered with 8 horses) and batteries of foot (limbered with 2 horses, mules or oxen).
Rights & Limitations
These rights pertain all OFFICIAL members of the 1st recon, and the 1st recon only. These rights do not apply to auxiliaries, members of the 1st Courteaux Life Guard or the Green Meadow Militia.
Permanent Rights:
The Right to be a part of the Regalian Military.
The Right to engage in & direct military reconnaissance.
The Right to engage in & direct military counter-intelligence.
The Right to own a headquarters in the Holy City.
The Right to employ first-class citizens and report under Military Law
Temporary Rights:
The Right to openly carry & wear weapons and armor in the capital during the dragon crisis.
Benefits
Members of the 1st Reconnaissence draw all usual benefits from serving the Imperial Military, including the related respect and wages. Furthermore, members are also eligible to:
- Be part of the Imperial Military. This means possible ascension in ranks within the military based on merit, eligibility for awards of merit, and the eligibility for personal preference at any business as per state law.
- Receive direct pastoral care from the Corps Chaplain. Members of the Reconnaissance are provided with distinguished Sancellist pastoral care by the designate Reverend.
(The army caters for followers of the Sancella, though there are certain services provided to Priscelle unionists as well)
- Serve in the war with an oath to the Imperial Military and without an oath specifically to one noble house. Members of the Reconnaissance corps may be part of any charter, may have businesses in Regalia and are not expected to serve house d'Ortonnaise outside the fields of battle, and even there, the noble house serves as a middle-man between military high command and the corps.
- Be able to transfer into the 1st Courteaux Life Guard after some honest servitude and become part of the d'Ortonnaise charter

To apply, one has to:
1. Be a First Class citizen
2. Be oathed to the Imperial Army
3. Be physically capable of combat or trained in a relevant intellectual school
4. Be literate and well-mannered with a clean or pardoned criminal record
Some notes:
The 1st Imperial Reconnaissance is an conservative-Ithanian corps accepting both men and women. There is zero differentiation between the two other than the ceremonies/uniforms. Women may serve, obtain military ranks and fight for the Empire within the Reconnaissance Corps.
