Life Story Childhood: Álvaro was born October 4, 282 A.C. in El Puerto Azul, Solacia. El Puerto Azul was a tropical city that was home to a melting pot of cultures and people. Álvaro was the first son of Lorenzo and Carmen Vidal, who found love through their common interest in stage performance and circus arts. He grew up in a middle-class household and at the time his family had a beautiful villa with a vineyard adjacent to it. This would be where the young boy would often spend his days running around and getting in trouble. Álvaro would often come running home with purple hair courtesy of the grapes he squished in his hair. Álvaro would be taught at a young age to play the fiddle, this was in order to contribute to the family business of entertainment. Like most young children he was stubborn as a mule and would often sneak away or simply not go to his music lessons. He would also be attending a school where most of the children in his area attended, where he would learn basic literacy skills and as another thing to learn he chose horticulture. Álvaro would also begin learning about Old Gods faith because that was the faith his parents worshipped, and later he would come to idolize Mærsjel. During the summer months of 288 A.C. Álvaro was blessed (though at times he would say cursed) with a sister, Mireya, who Álvaro would later become inseparable from. When they both became old enough, Álvaro and Mireya would begin performing with their parents for tourists. The young performers were quite popular so they quickly made up their own act, taking the stage names of El Lirio y La Alondra, or the Lily and the Lark. Adolescence: Álvaro as an adolescent would find an interest in linguistic sciences after an interaction with an Altalar librarian at one of the local book shops. The Altalar, Loriella, would take him under her wing and began teaching Álvaro about the languages across the world. This would continue well into his adulthood until he was fluent in Modern Altalar, d’Ihanie, and Alt-Regalian. The pair would remain close throughout his life, having a mentor-student relationship. Álvaro would spend his free time running around El Puerto Azul with his sister and exploring the Island. Álvaro would experience a family tragedy when he was sixteen, his mother would get sick and sadly never get better. At the time there wasn’t a good medical organization that could save her, so Álvaro basically sat there as his mother died because he couldn’t do anything to help. This is when he became overly protective of Mireya. Álvaro would help his father during this time, getting several jobs just to help pay for their villa so they wouldn’t be evicted from it, as their mother’s voice was no longer bringing in income. He would also get an Anglian Shepard named Alfonso, while Álvaro never trained in any combat, he would take up running in order to stay in good shape. Often Alfonso would join him on his early morning runs in the countryside of El Puerto Azul. Young Adulthood & Present: In 302 A.C. Álvaro’s father would remarry, which at the time he was indifferent about Álvaro would grow to resent his step-mother Maria. Later that year the pair had their first child so now Álvaro had two siblings, Mireya, and Luca. At first Maria was accepting of Álvaro and Mireya, but as Luca grew older she would actively begin leaving them out which didn’t bother Álvaro because he wasn’t going to be around much longer, but it affected his now-fourteen year old sister who was still living with their father. The final straw was when Maria had destroyed something that his mother had given to Álvaro. After this he approached his father and told him how poorly Maria had been treating him and his sister and in the end he apologized for what she had done. Realizing that at this time Álvaro could better raise Mireya, she moved in with him in the tiny attic apartment above the pub he worked at. They didn’t cut ties with their family, however he did try to avoid their step-mother as much as he could. Familial relations grew strained nonetheless. Then during the summer of 306 A.C. both Álvaro and Mireya purchased their way onto a vessel that would take them to Regalia, he did this with the permission of his father in hopes to expand the family’s entertainment business in the Crown Isle, and once they got themselves a steady foundation they would send for their father. However, he was just as eager to leave Maria and the old villa that no longer held any happy memories behind. Now it is 309 A.C. and Álvaro and Mireya live in Old Town together, scraping together a living with their music and performances. Alfonso still goes on his morning runs with Álvaro. He keeps in contact with his father, sending letters every few weeks and making vague plans for when the family will join them in Regalia.
