The Alms Ministry of Regalia Charity, Community, Activity. MISSION STATEMENT The goal of the Alms Ministry is to see that any who wish to do good in this city are given the chance to see their ideas come to light. Let the people gather and assist one another, let the impoverished be supported, and let our city flourish with good deeds. To be a nexus for community connection, and a focusing lens of good intentions. GOALS Citizens who wish to become Supervisors can collect volunteers for their day-to-day (role-play conducive) tasks that involve city betterment. The Ministry will work closely with the Violet Order, and establish a bridge between the common people and the Guard Force. Guards can force prisoners to work on community service projects. The Alms Ministry will release 'Missions' that anyone can take up, for the good of the city. LOCATIONS The Alms Ministry Safe House is a fortified villa which has been converted for use by the Ministry. Anyone is welcome to rp in this public space! Knights are always welcomed to hang around or to donate their time in service to the people. See more info on the Safe House, here! The Alms Sanctuary us a currently under-construction villa located in Rose Court which includes a kitchen, dining hall, courtyard, and Library! There is also a non-denominational Chapel for use by anyone who wishes to offer support to the community, religious or otherwise, and a public Auditorium where events and lectures can be hosted upon request. See more info on the Alms Sanctuary Library here! IMPACT ON THE CURED The Ministry expects to lower the rate of reinfection among those infected and cured of Sanguinism and Werebeastism. All criminals who have paid their debts to society will be given the chance to contribute to it once again. Our goal is not punishment; it is reintegration. VIOLET ORDER INVOLVEMENT Guards of the Violet Order are encouraged to work with the Alms Ministry to see what work needs to be done where they can point prison labor. THE BRUTE SQUAD The Brute Squad is the private security force of the Alms Ministry. They are expected to keep a presence in the Alms locations, and at events, and to protect staff and residents. The Brute Squad Thread is currently under construction. THE FIRE BRIGADE Anyone may volunteer for a special role called the Fire Brigade, which will be called upon in the event of a fire. Firefighting equipment is currently stored at the Alms Safe House. All Brutes are automatically part of the Fire Brigade, but no hiring process is necessary. (Just sign up for the role in discord). SANCTUARY CLAUSE The Alms Sanctuary is a legally Neutral Zone, and only the Imperial Guard can arrest someone from its grounds. Sanctuary can be offered to those pursued by the law, even by noble families, without question. The gate can be closed to protect someone from criminal violence, even if that person is criminal themselves. Those who seek sanctuary will abide by the Staff and the Brute Squad, or be thrown out. OUR STAFF Many hands will still not make light work of all there is to be done, both in the Isle, and abroad. But through the compassion and efforts of our staff, we will make a difference. POSITIONS: Minister: Archduchess Sivrid Sorenvik Duties include the overseeing of all Staff, and coordination of Initiatives. All requests for funding will be drafted by the Minister and sent to the Finance Ministry for approval. All Initiatives must be approved by the Minister before they are added to the docket. The Minister has the right to restructure the Ministry’s staff, and oversees hiring of staff. Manager of Human Resources: Novellia av Fristadvlom Duties include the screening of applicants wishing to Mentor or Apprentice. This manager will keep an updated document which details the available businesses and mentors, and those who wish for jobs or apprenticeships. They are in charge of connecting the impoverished to appropriate places of hire. They will personally get to know those who are attempting to reintegrate with society, and will see that their best attributes are put forward to employers. Manager of Events: Grand Duchess Tuija Viduggla This person oversees the organization of any events which are hosted officially by the Alms Ministry itself, be they fundraisers or community outreach. They are a public-facing role which should be able to get people excited about coming to events, and see that events go smoothly. Should a Supervisor need help in planning their project events, this person should be able to offer advice. Chief of Security: Open* The safety and security of the Alms House on a daily basis, as well as in the event of a city crisis, are the realm of this person. They will hold one of the two existing keys to the Armory, and will oversee training exercises within the villa. They are also expected to be up to date on criminal activity, and work to prevent or prepare for the possibility of attack. The structure of our security force will be up to them. *Open on IC basis only, through trust built IC. Do not pen a letter to Siv if you have never interacted with the Alms before. Show interest IC, and begin showing up to things. Supervisors: (GRANTED BY MINISTER) Any citizen with an idea for a project can pitch the idea to the Minister, and be granted the role of Supervisor. Supervisors can collect volunteers for their projects and will receive Ministry support. Projects can be daily tasks, or can be goal-oriented with a starting and stopping point. Mentors and Businesses: (OPEN TO ALL) Businesses and mentors willing to train or hire ex-convicts, or the impoverished, should register with the Manager of Human Resources. Volunteers: (OPEN TO ALL) No letter is necessary to become a volunteer. You will likely do day-to-day rp with Supervisors on their projects, or will be tasked with larger event-themed tasks as they arise. (Join the discord and you will be pinged as projects arise!) Any volunteers can use the public Alms Ministry Safe House to stir up activity. Donators: (OPEN TO ALL) Donations of physical goods can be given to any staff. (IC is preferred). (All funding is funny money and not related to wealth tokens or any DM systems.) (Join the discord to be pinged as projects arise.) Monthly Report Compilation A detailed report of the Ministry's accomplishments will be released publicly each month, and links will be placed here. January 309 February 309 March 309 April 309 May 309 June 309 July 309 The Months of August and September do not have a monthly report. WHY COORDINATE WITH THE MINISTRY? Some may wonder why their family should bother with the ministry, when they can complete projects themselves. For example, a family may donate a box of blankets to a cold family. But if they wished to start a project wherein state funds were used to manufacture blankets for the poor, they should reach out to the Alms Ministry to see that money is raised and donated, a budget is drafted, a request to the Finance Ministry is petitioned, the money from the Improvement Fund is secured, and the production of the blankets is completed, then volunteers will hand out the goods to those requesting them. Our staff are also a pool or helping hands to assist with events and community outreach, connecting the givers to the receivers. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR RP? My goals for this Ministry on an OOC level are essentially to create the lowest barrier of entry for players/characters who are interested in city rp. Anyone can bring project ideas to Sivrid. If it's a good idea, she'll support it. This gives anyone the chance to push rp or call for gatherings. It means that characters have a way to get their names out there, recognized for good works. And it means players who are perhaps nervous about interacting with city officials or nobility have a chance to practice in a very low-risk way. Any volunteers are allowed to ping for activity in the discord. And any Supervisors can ping for volunteers to gather and help with their projects. I will continue to adapt the ministry and try to make it as easy and rp conducive as possible for people to hang around and make it a hot spot.
