While Abdou’s family was relatively well off due to his father’s military career, it wasn’t enough for Yahir, who wanted to reclaim his family’s position. As such, militant training was the main focus of Abdou’s early life. Though Abdou’s father wanted him to be a soldier, he was falling behind in his drills, and was beginning to spend far more time studying the Shambala scripts under his mother. This is when he first began to learn sorcery, holding it in an almost religious sense. As time went on, Abdou found himself more devoutly following Shambala, even in comparison to those he lived around. While Abdou wasn’t amazing with a spear, he was competent, and his sorcery was coming along nicely. This caught the attention of a local priest, who was eager to bring him into the clergy. At first, Yahir was outraged that his son wouldn’t be joining the military. But, after some convincing from Saji and Abdou, and the assurance that his combat training would continue. Ritualism was first learned on his entrance to the church, as well as with further training in spear fighting, as all priests had to be skilled fighters to protect the clergy, should it come to that. It wasn’t until several years later that Abdou became noteworthy in his spear fighting, but he had long since mastered the ritualism he had been taught. Abdou continued his life as a clergyman for a long while, essentially growing up with it. While he was noteworthy for his devoutness and use of sorcery, he was generally an unassuming priest. This all changed at the brink of the First Songaskian war. After the news of a demon in the Holy City, and the unmistakable shining sun, Abdou was certain this would mean full scale war with Regalia. Intent on doing his duty as a servant to the Sun, Abdou would go to meet with his father Yahir to help where he could in combat. Despite being a skilled fighter, Abdou rarely saw any form of combat. Instead, he was kept far away from the conflict in fortresses and camps, providing medical and spiritual aid to the present soldiers. It wasn’t a completely quiet career, as Abdou did participate in the occasional skirmish or raid, but he didn’t see any large scale conflict. When news of the raiding of Regalia had met Abdou, he was conflicted. On one hand, he was horrified at the loss of thousands of people, and nearly the total destruction of a city, but on the other, it was the Sun that had ordered them to fight. Ultimately, that had been enough warfare for Abdou, who shortly after the peace treaty, returned home. Even when the Second Songaskian War erupted, and the Regalians pushed closer and closer into his homeland, he instead remained at the capital, tending to those who needed spiritual guidance or medical aid. The Songaskian Civil war was a shifting point for Abdou, which challenged his beliefs on his religion. It seemed unfair that the Regalians had been blessed with the Imperial dragon before the Songaskian Masaya had welcomed their own dragons back, but ultimately he saw this as a sign not to change religions, but to accept that a wider Dragon Worship was valid, but that Shambala always has, and will be the only correct way to worship the Black Desert Dragons. With his nation in the midst of repair, and the appearance of Dragons in Regalia, Abdou’s option seemed clear. He would move to the Holy City in search for prosperity, and religious fulfillment.
@Caelamus Just changed Elemental Intercepting to Elemental Slide, as the new racials give him an ability with similar effects. Change made in orange.
