He especially venerates Yvrize, Hero of Knights, and aspires to emulate his strength and ideals. Philippe is an earnest and kind-hearted Bloodcast Knight, who aims to serve his Empire loyally, and to protect the well-being of its' citizens to the best of his ability. He spent his earlier years in servitude of the d'Ortonnaise and then the de Letoirneau. He served beneath the venerable house of Typhonus under Reimar of Calemberg's leadership, before the house's seeming dissolution. Philippe disappeared from the city without warning following events in the then-Scar of the city. Philippe was raised as the youngest of a trio of siblings, his eldest being his sister Morrigan Lunete Corbcastell, and the middle child Lucius Gaius Corbcastell, and was himself born and raised in a provincial Tolonne town not far from Sant-Auban. This town is called Langelier. Being the diminutive child he was from a young age, he was often prone to distrust from most inhabitants of his home town due to his mixed heritage, though it took years for it to come to a point where his parents realised and thought to intervene. He was an intelligent and mischievous child, often causing many heart attacks in his doting parents and dutiful sister, as he found his way out of the house and yard often, only for his family to find him wandering about the streets and attempting to interact with whoever he could. He has only one obvious physical abnormality; his Steamtek arm. His natural right arm comes to a close at a nub just a quarters-way down from the shoulder to the elbow. The replacement biotic arm is clean steel, form-fitting and decorated with Unionist and Sun motifs. Philippe is a sincere-looking man in his thirties with a kindly smile, olive skin and freckled cheeks. He stands at 5'9, and has a muscular build. His hair is jet black, with white flecks, and rests loosely at his shoulder. He wears a beard inspired by the Emperor Alexander. Spoiler: Expanded Visuals Visual Information (Expansion) Philippe has a rather small sized nose on his face, with a softly rounded jaw into a rounded chin, resulting in an almost diamond shaped face. His eyes are a deep blue and sharply leveled, though bear a few mirthful wrinkles, betraying his sharp look for a more youthful one befitting of his age. His eyebrows are thick and sharp, though quite expressive, both capable of accentuating his anger and fitting quite well on a smiling face. His jet black hair, previously worn in a short swept style, has recently been grown out further, or rather, left un-cut. It’s between a short and medium length, enough to touch at his shoulders loosely, and for a longer fringe to form. Hair falls down on either side of his face, framing it, while most is pushed back in a swept-like manner. Despite his best efforts, it refuses to be contained, and flutters down to frame his face. It’s not quite long enough to stay in a ponytail, and not short enough to stay out of his face— a perfect storm. His hair, previously voluminous, is now somewhat weighed down by itself. It sits flatter on his scalp than it used too, but when clean it blows effortlessly in the wind. Philippe also suffers from severe bedhead when he forgets to brush it, but generally escapes the dreaded “helmet hair” unscathed. Philippe has a diminutive stature, standing at only 5’9 in a land filled with 6 foot tall men, something he is personally sensitive about, and is relatively light, weighing at in 165 pounds. He has a muscular body build, owing to his common exercise and active training and his duties requiring him to wear articles of armour on a near daily basis. His body is covered both in large patches of speckling freckles, especially on his upper back, shoulders and dotted up and down his arms and legs. He bears a few nicks, scratches and scars, as well as a number of “Hen’s Pecks” scars, from his active life and duties that often have him performing work in the field rather than sitting at a desk or the safety of a nice tent. Among his increasing number of new scars, there is prominently one stretching horizontally beneath his right eye. His steamtech arm is a clean, maintained steel, and form-fitting. At its shoulder, a sunbeam design stemmmed from the darkness of a single hole carved deep into the steel. The beams continue down the bicep and along the forearm in an intricate pattern that hissed hot air from the angular holes that surrounded it. Finally, the pattern fuses at the wrist and forms an eye on the back of the hand; an obvious symbol of The Everwatcher, framed by a circular vent. Philippe’s voice is buttery smooth, with an intrinsic warmth. Gentle notes of a Tolonne accent give it a romantic, mesmerizing richness. His good heart bleeds through his voice, making it doubly as terrifying when he raises it. Philippe’s yelling voice is truly terrifying and awe-inspiring. At all times, his pace is slow and deliberate. His voice is full of a quality only comparable to that of sunlight diffused through water. His every word is enchanting, and gives one the impression of languid urgency. Even his language faux pas and shy stutter add to this charm. Relationships. To be done. Life Story - Philippe was born to an ex-mercenary and weaver, in a small town in Solacia called Langelier. He is preceded by two elder siblings. -In his adolescence, he becomes a Schilder for the Bloodcast Order. He has a rough start, but quickly takes to all aspects of the learning eagerly. His first mentor dies late in his tuition, and it somewhat sobers him. -In his early adulthood, he is Knighted by his new mentor (and friend) and the Grandmaster at the time, and elects to accompany his friend on quests throughout the Empire and beyond. -By his thirties, Philippe has been involved in numerous wars where he has fought and commanded troops, and in numerous crises in the Imperial City of Regalia. Most recently, the Vampire Insurrection. He lost an arm, but received a medal for Exceptional Service for his efforts in the fight against the Sanguine. -His father tragically passed away mid-way through the first month of 310AC. He disappears from his loyal service to the House von Schwarzkrau so that he can help lay his father to rest and organise his family, and now is returning to the Empire, with hopes of making up his disappearance to his old liege. Spoiler: Extended Life Story Life Story Philippe Gerevan Anne-Marie Ravenburg was born to the loving married duo of a dimunitive and shy young lady, Lillian Ravenburg née Suilae, and the one-legged Ithanian, Sitrius Ravenburg, early in the clear-skied morning of November the 17th. He was the third child of the couple, after his eldest sibling Morrigan, and elder brother Lucius. He was born and raised in the small port town of Langelier, a small locale nearby the major Tolonne city of Sant-Auban. His early childhood was often considered an exciting time in the parenting career of his parents, as he was a nightmare for a worried couple, a mixture of mischievous and intelligent. He would often sneak out of the home once he was of an able age, and wander the town aimlessly taking in the surroundings and interacting with other children, both younger and older than him only to be found and captured by his father who, as a relatively well-known figure in the town, was always tipped off about the location of his son. As he aged, he grew more and more interested in a number of subjects, ranging from history and whatever literature he could read using the knowledge his father had taught him, to exploring and sword-fighting. He was often subject, unfortunately, to the bullying of others in his town thanks to his fathers’ mixed breed and ‘traitorous’ culture and his ‘inheritance’ of these things, for times ranging from weeks to months at a time with short reprieves. Eventually these ceased to occur as Philippe grew to be an imposing figure, at least among the ranks of town children, with dark black hair, dark blue eyes and a dark and explosive anger problem which eventually burst free and to the forefront. In response, his family’s response was to tutor the boy in whatever they could to keep the child in line, especially in the form of sword work. As a young tween, he was less prone to mischief as he had been in his youngest years, having grown focussed on his duties and chores as a self-proclaimed “young adult”, taking up work both in his own household and around the town, causing him to gain the moniker of the helper boy. In his time growing up, an aged knight clad in red-cape and half-plate had recurringly visited Langelier; often volunteering around the town and defending from dangerous animals and other threats to the town when possible. Philippe ended up growing close to the knight, whom he admired with all of his heart for his selflessness. The knight's name was Quentin Acel, and he was a Bloodcast Knight. Philippe ended up taking lessons in sword-fighting from both his father Sitrius and from the aged knight, before eventually Sitrius and Quentin had come to meet, and decide on Philippe's future. His interest in the Bloodcasts had not gone unnoticed, and both men had eventually decided to allow Quentin to take the young boy under his wing and train him. After a heartfelt goodbye, Philippe spent some years training under Quentin. He was a strict but caring old man, and stressed diligence and stricture in everything that he did; something that Philippe took quite to heart. His training was filled with many hardships and adventures that the child had only ever dreamed of, but the reality of their job had never been fully realised by Philippe; until Quentin's unfortunate passing in the line of duty. Philippe was left a tutor-less Schilder of the Order. Unbeknownst to the young squire, his old master had sent a letter to a colleague about taking over Philippe's tutelage. Lazarus Lupenzi’s arrival in Philippe’s life was not especially graceful or well-received; in comparison to Quentin’s elderly wiles, Lazarus was a passionate young man, and Philippe did not offer him much of the respect that he had given to his now-deceased master. Lazarus as well was not a new fan of his new occupation teaching this Schilder, a new burden suddenly foisted upon his shoulders. It took some long months before the two began to open up to each other. Philippe and Lazarus’ relationship was a strange mix of teacher-student and friendship, as the two were close enough in age to maintain similar interests, but different enough in experience that there was a clear superior in their duality. Their joined travels as master and schilder led them all across the breadth of Aloria, and Philippe ended up being greatly shaped by his experiences with his new teacher and friend. His skill with a blade was honed under the guidance of Lazarus, and his talent for commanding and inspiring troops was both discovered and encouraged by Lazarus who was quite skilled himself. The most important influence his teacher had on him was instilling and reinforcing a strong moral compass in Philippe, and it still serves him to this day, as a guiding force in his every day. The Tolonne remained by his mentor’s side even following his official induction into the Bloodcast Order, and they fought and bled together through thick and thin. The two of them eventually began to grow apart following events in their separate personal loves, and woman troubles. The final wedge that drove the two apart for a long while was their shared affections for a woman named Aubrey, who eventually came to marry Lazarus, to Philippe’s outrage and ire. The two were hardly able to stay in the same room without coming to blows for some while, and it was only thanks to Aubrey’s efforts that the two began to reconnect with each other. Even following Aubrey and Lazarus’ divorce, Philippe remained in contact and re-bonded with his mentor, being a supporting figure for the older man in that time of trouble. Philippe disappeared off of the radar for a few years following, plying his trade as a Bloodcast across the Isles, before returning to the city for the Clicker Crisis briefly and disappearing once more. He found himself properly involved in the Imperial City once more prior to the Vampire Insurrection of 309, where he zealously threw himself into the fray and found himself oft under the command of Howland von Schwarzkrau. In the closing act of the uprising, the Bloodcast lost his right arm in the course of defending Vallavaan from a trap. Following the conclusion of the Insurrection and the restoration of order, Philippe was one of those awarded with a medal for Exceptional Service; Philippe du Langelier was recognized for exceptional service in the fight against Sanguine. He spent the next while actively and loyally serving as a retainer to the House von Schwarzkrau, his physical ability restored by an engineering benefactor. He disappeared for a period of a few months during 310AC, whilst tending to family affairs; his father had died and he was needed sorely by his family. Finally, mourning and grieving has ended, and it is time for the Bloodcast to return to his work.
Talents and Weaknesses: I'm going to ask you to add the School of Bloodcast as a talent and either remove another talent or add a weakness to situate this. This is mainly because he has formal training as a Bloodcast and while not having progressed much, it's still a viable talent. That's the only edit I will ask of you, the app was well written! @Caelamus I return with a new update that was just supposed to be a quick proficiency update; I've edited his proficiencies, with new prof in Polearms, given more athletic prof and edited body shape and physical stat accordingly. Also, his weapon/s of choice! I realised too that while I'd aged him up prior, I hadn't actually changed any of the dates of events in his life story, and some things were outdated; I edited dates and reworked some portions of his backstory to make more sense with the rectified dates. @Caelamus hello hello, I've done a lil update here. I marked the changes in this red and I'll outline the changes here too. I added his lineage from the new update, as well as done some work to his spoilered details (though I don't imagine that effects the review), as well as added some clarification to his personality section to explain what his personality type means. @Caelamus Bump for a re-review! I've aged him up to 33 now, considering his 33rd birthday was just last month! I've taken the opportunity now to re-work his backstory, now with Lazarus Lupenzi being his mentor through much of his training, as well as some modifications to his backstory. As well, I've removed some proficiencies I was simply never using in roleplay or progression. Glaive combat makes a return to his repertoire, largely in tandem with his husbandry skill and Progression mount. His mount Velha and his Frontline Command regiment are added now.
