    Option One: The Question List

    • How would your character express Happiness and Contentedness?
      • When in public? Subtly, perhaps with a content grin and polite nod. On more private occasions? A beaming smile, relaxed posture and an inclination to drink.
    • How would your character respond to experiencing Fear?
      • Very openly. He is quick to make people aware when he is uncomfortable or afraid. He does not want to be in a situation that scares him.
    • How would your character respond to experiencing Stress?
      • Sudden outbursts of verbal anger, mixed in with passive-aggressive comments and a lack of patience.
    • How does your character view Law and Authorities?
      • With the utmost respect. Having served under the law, he is nothing but grateful for it’s existence and values the order it keeps. Authority brings with it respect, which is what Nathaniel values. Though, he is less liking to Authorities he deems are not deserving of their… authority.
    • How does your character feel about Races other than their own?
      • He is impartial towards them. He doesn’t have a particular interest in any other races, however he doesn’t dislike any either. He has many Non-Ailor friends, or so he would say.
    • How does your character feel about Religion for themselves, and other faiths?
      • He is a practicing Unionist, but has little care for other people's beliefs unless they are openly/aggressively demeaning Unionism.
    • How does your character feel about the Arcane and Magical in the world?
      • He is both entirely baffled and fascinated by Magic at the same time. While he understands the power it can hold, he almost views it as an entertaining gimmick.
    • How does your character feel towards their family?
      • His family are the most important people in his life. He would go to hell and back for them, giving anything he can for his family’s success.
    • What is your character the most proud of about themselves?
      • His short-lived political/military career in 305 AC. While he was not particularly favoured by most of the Nobility or common folk, he felt he achieved a lot of what he wanted to. A stand out moment for him was securing Kronau Castle for his family estate. To him, it represented his family finding their place within Regalia.
    • What motivates your character to move forward and better their life?
      • Family. He wants power, wealth and safety for his family and he will do whatever it takes to achieve that...
    • What is your character's biggest insecurity?
      • Any mention of his military failure at Bou Gasagou. He feels an extreme amount of guilt for the lives he lost, but also a large amount of shame for the reputation it gave him. He doesn't like to be viewed as incompetant.
    • What is your character's biggest fear?
      • Being publicly embarrassed and shamed. He has been through it before and never wants it to happen again.

    Life Story (Required)

Nathaniel was born into a loving family on the 30th of March, 270 AC. His upbringing was simple and average, as Nathaniel was too young to take part in the current rising power in his family. He spent most of his days with his father, who was a big inspiration through his life. His father taught him everything he knows, from sailing to simple sword combat. Nathaniel’s mother was not much of an influence in his life, as she was often around his sisters, however she would try to teach him her native language, Ithanian, whenever she got the chance. This was how most of their time spent together was used; it was clear Nathaniel favoured male company. Nathaniel loved everyone in his family though, and he had many happy memories in his early life. He enjoyed his combat training, though it was tough, as he could spend valuable time with his father and brothers. He progressed at an average pace, and soon began to build up strength with his weapon, however he never really perfected the art.

His life changed at the age of 28, in the year 298 AC, when his father raised the family to new heights in political affairs, gaining them a Barony in New Ceardia. By this time Nathaniel was already a sailor for the family’s small merchant company and enjoying his life at sea. He continued to learn from his father, who taught him how to run their Barony, making sure he was ready to inherit the title at any time. With new money and fortune, Nathaniel found it much easier to live both the life of a sailor and that of an aspiring political figure. Most of Nathaniel’s shipmates went home to poor, small and dirty houses, where they lived in less than comfortable conditions. However, Nathaniel had all the time in the world to enjoy his rising luxury and was beginning to settle into his new life. Though Nathaniel was hard working, he knew when he had to rest and treat himself. He excelled through his marine studies, serving well as a marine soldier, shining in leadership as an Officer, and being strict and stern as a commander after a tough time time studying at The Regalian College of Marine Commanders. Nathaniel fought in many battles, losing a lot of friends and some family, however, he pushed on through hard times and managed to complete study at the Regalian Academy of Admiralty and become a Captain Of Commission at the young age of 32.

It was then 302AC, and the start of the Elven War. With Nathaniel’s new leadership and loyal crew, he was excited to take part. He was in the main assault of Thellassia, and led a good fight against his weak enemies. Nathaniel told his men to bombard any movement along the Medlem Talar coastlines, after hearing of repositioning of men around Telara Merthwen. Nathaniel viewed this as a successful strategy, but it would eventually fail him. The war was won, and Nathaniel soon returned home, but not to good news. He learnt that his father had passed, and his mother was seriously ill. Nathaniel inherited his father's Barony, an event once pictured as a great blessing, had become a curse. As much as Nathaniel enjoyed his naval career, he knew it could not progress with the burden of being responsible for his father's land. He knew he must do what was right for the people of Lowton and for his family; He would stop his naval training to progress the fortunes of House Bigge. Nathaniel always wished to become and Admiral, but for now he had to settle for his Captaincy for the sake of his family's future. Nathaniel spent the next painful weeks alone, mourning the loss of his father. His mother passed in the later months and, upon finishing his organisation of the Barony, Nathaniel didn’t hesitate to return to work at sea. With a new crew, and some familiar faces, he set off on a patrol mission, protecting the trade waters surrounding Regalia. He thought it was strange that he could practically see the shores of Regalia, where his family had recently migrated to, yet he felt so far away. As soon as his yearlong mission had finished, he didn’t return to his home in New Ceardia, instead he set off for Regalia with all the possessions he could carry.

After his arrival in 304 AC, he managed to acquire lands within the Archipelago, specifically in Gallovia. He earned the title of Imperial Knight of Norswick, which would soon become completely redundant. As November had only just begun, the Lo Occupation was launched sending Nathaniel and his family fleeing from the city. Originally staying within the House Black country estate, the family joined with those in Kronau Castle and signed up for the resistance. The pressure bore down on Nathaniel as he tried to work his way up the ranks of command, to secure some kind of political security for his family. After fighting in the Battle of Rothburg, Nathaniel was delighted to see the occupation come to an end shortly after. His political reputation and family relevance was all hanging in the balance as society struggled to reform.

Over the coming year, Nathaniel would progress slowly. Though seen as a bit of an over-confident annoyance by most of the peerage, he had gained a significant place within the command of the military. He had returned to the Academy of Admiralty to finish his studies. After some organisational shuffling by the Emperor, he was placed as Inspector-Admiral of the Kaisermark Fleet, a position he thought would bring him great success. How wrong he was. After trouble dealing with the imports of illegal goods, Nathaniel felt it was time to prove himself. As the Second Songaskian War raged on, Nathaniel drafted his own plan to gain significant ground for the Empire. Well, the rest is history:

“In an effort to regain standing, one of the Admirals opted to divide his ships in hopes of flattening one of the Songaskian Pearl Cities. Unfortunately for the admiral, a Songaskian fleet hailing from Sikassaro came upon the fragmented Regalian fleet’s weaker element. Making quick work of the heavily outgunned Third Line Calembergers, the Sikassaro fleet moved in on the remaining Second Line ships to wipe out the fleet.”

Nathaniel was ridiculed and mocked for his failure and he was eventually Court Martialed. It seemed like the end for him and his family, but he pushed onwards. Over the coming year, Nathaniel would progress slowly. His Imperial-Knightdom would turn to a Barony and eventually to a County. A lucky play in the Imperial Court granted him forgiveness for his crimes and allowed him to retake a position in the Navy - though he never managed to. He settled in to a grand country estate with his family and all seemed well. However, it was not.

By 306 AC, Nathaniel’s family had slowly been returning to their homeland of New Ceardia. They were not feeling happy in the city anymore, especially not with Nathaniel’s obvious struggle to maintain relevance in the changing political landscape. Nathaniel had lost control of his family, himself and his own ambitions. He began to avoid the public eye, keeping to himself or smaller occasions, until he could bare no more. He joined some of his close family back in Norswick, Gallovia, to try and catch a break. As Nathaniel lost publicity, he lost relevance. And as he lost relevance, he lost power and money too. Soon he was forced to abdicate his County of Norswick, returning to his New Ceardian hometown of Lowton in pure shame. One final defeat that had seemingly gone completely unnoticed, but for all the wrong reasons.

Spending a few years in Lowton, his family maintained a mildly successful ship-supply building company, that kept them out of poverty. As 307 AC rolled in, Nathaniel grew restless. He had a sudden desire to return to Regalia, for an indefinite amount of time. He traveled alone, not wishing to make too much of a big deal, but who knows where it will take him…

    Hey there, @StarkFromAway

I'm glad to see this old character making a return!

I couldn't find anything wrong with this application, maybe for flare, you could add in something about his eventual ambitions for his personal goals? but if not, keep it all as is. Either way, this is marked as approved.
