Overview
House vun Rolanthe, or von Rolanthe (commonly referred to by it's Calem translation outside of Tirgunn,) is a Lothar-Aligned, Purist-Unionist house. They are exclusively Leutz-Vixe. Their lands were acquired by the Crown for the family ousting and conquering a secret coven of Vintgast Vampires that previously ruled the lands. The family was heavily intertwined in the initial gatherings of the Darkwald Order. While the house is undoubtedly Lothar, they are heavily associated with the Darkwald charter. In recent time, they are renown for manufacturing and supplying weapons and armor for various Lothar stations. They have operated workshops and factories for the production of wares for four generations. The modern perception of the von Rolanthe family is that of internal Order mediators, military surplus production, and conservative diplomats and lobbyists. In recent times, the house has moved to produce weapons and armor for the Regalian Military, as of the Sendrassian-Hadarian war, the first time the house has armed anyone besides the Lothar Order.

Province: Vanren, Tirgunn
Colors: Dark Gray, Pale Green-Blue (Rolanthe gréng) and Pale Red.
Title: Grof vun Vanren
Religious Alignment: Purist, Dogmatic-Unionist. Historically, covertly Sarnan faithful.
Wealth: Acquired through providing wares, weaponry to the Darkwald Chapter and Lothar Academy.

Design & Symbology
The family are known to wear misty shades of dark teal and pale grays, along with a specific shade of misty green that has since been dubbed Rolanthe Green, which most staff and noble attire have accents of. Their crest includes a red poppy and a rapier. The family hails from Tirgunn; living in a large dark stone castle atop a hill, overlooking blazing forests and frequently purged lands. They are proudly Leutz-Vixe, but are known to remain isolated in Tirgunn. Rarely are they spotted in Ostiermark, and never in Lorhaus. They are known as uptight and distant people, standing proudly behind the greater Counts, Knights, higher ranks of the Lothar Order. They are well educated, and a common attribute of the family is that they are prolific language-learners. The von Rolanthe kin are assumed to speak at least Letz and Calem to communicate with as many families within the Conservative peerage as possible. They consider themselves to be a stalwart symbol of the old Darkwald Chapterhouse.

Wealth and Legacy

Indigenous to the Leutz-Vixe region of coastal Tirgunn, the family claimed their lands by revealing that the old Count of Vanren was the leader of a vampire coven. They had infiltrated this castle, and allegedly cleared it of all sanguine with only four men. She who dealt the final blow to the late Count's heart, the first Countess of Vanren, Minerva von Rolanthe.

The Mannerisms and Expectations of House von Rolanthe
The modern day reputation of House von Rolanthe is that of lobbyists on behalf of the Darkwald Organization. While the House often lobbies on behalf of the Lothar Order, they have existed in the chambers of its predecessor for far longer. Von Rolanthe are considered an "Old Darkwald" House, and are often at odds with the more modern radical sects of the Chapter and Order.

House von Rolanthe and the Schwaarzblutt Group
The House is not quick to scrutinize or start trouble with the Schwaarzblutt Group, as they are often passive to remain in their good graces. There have been incidents where the radical sect has regarded the House as sheepish or silent where they wish to push their radicalism further, but nothing egregious enough to garner the ire of the sect. As a stalwart within the "older" Darkwald Order, House von Rolanthe has earned their respect with the Schwaarzblutt group as convenient mediators with members of the Darkwald that grow inclined towards magical liberation.

House von Rolanthe and the Grauwald Gruppe
House von Rolanthe held history as outward aggressors towards the Grauwald Gruppe. Prior to the unification of the Lothar Order, the house was soon to regard the group as a danger to the unity of Purism for their utilization of mages as Armaments. Following the Grauwald being promoted to a knightly charter, they have ceased aggressions and have begun cooperating with the Chapter, albeit reluctantly and slowly. The house has silently commiserated with the Grauwald on the matter of the Schwarzblut Group's radicalism, but these discussions spoken in absolute secrecy.

House von Rolanthe and the Greater Darkwald Chapter
The house has earned a level of notoriety and respect within the Chapter for how long they have persisted, in their legacy of politics and active duty. The House operates on an internal code of ethics to support their self preservation, one which has made them dependable to the Order at large. House von Rolanthe are mediators among the baseline and more radical sects of the Darkwald chapter. They have been regarded as centrist among their peers.

House von Rolanthe and the Greater Lothar Order
House von Rolanthe seats themselves centric within the Lothar Order as peacekeepers among the various other factions in the organization, as is expected of them as Darkwalds.

  • The House's centrist mediation within the Darkwald makes their positioning a little too radical to perfectly assimilate with the operations of the Émérites. Many of them have transferred to the Chapter following the Lothar Unification, but not enough to align in full with their operations.
  • As manufacturers for the Regalian Military, the House works alongside the Sudzhennya in funding innovative weapons of war. The work alongside the Chapter for business matters more than they do mediation.
  • House von Rolanthe are sympathetic to the Herebrand Chapter, as they are the newest addition to the Order and had nearly lost their charter. While they share their differences, the House has little trouble to pick with the Herebrand, finding friends in their ranking officers and commanders.
  • House von Rolanthe has not made themselves well acquainted with the Helbane, not due to ideological differences, but due to location.

House von Rolanthe's Sarnan Ties, and assimilation with the Regalian Peerage
It is an unprovable truth that House von Rolanthe holds Sarnan blood. It is an undeniable truth that House von Rolanthe are Letuz Vixe, and what ties they hold to the ancient Sarnan people are negligible to the average Leutzman or noble, as the family have presented themselves as nothing but Leutz-Vixe in culture and political alignment. A modern day Neo-Sarnan might regard the rumor of House von Rolanthe being of Sarnan blood as insignificant, as they are too busy aligning themselves with the Wirtemcaller that colonized their peoples so long ago for political gain– and it would be better if it were not true at all. A commoner or Noble might be wary to speak of the assumption, as claiming the House covertly belongs to a marginalized and backwater minority is a slanderous accusation.

House von Rolanthe, The Sarnan and Gaisros
It's said that the house has collectively converted to Unionism as of the last 100 years. The last practicing von Rolanthe was at least 60 years ago. As of Adagio and Vittoria's birth, there have been no von Rolanthe that have had Sarnan ceremonies held for their cultural rite of passage in the name of the long-fallen Pine Father. Said ritual had degraded in modern years, and certain cultural customs lost to time. The von Rolanthe as a whole have previously always existed as covert Gaisros faithful, prior to 60 years ago. The family having a long history of hunting down any who begin to speculate or create rumors that risk ousting them. In modern day, this has become an impossible and risky task as Unionism has become a forefront rite of passage for nobility amidst Wirtem and Leutz-Vixe houses.

There are still some von Rolanthe who pay respect to Gaisros in the form of cultural respect, and small rituals that have aided the family in both lay medicine and protective mundane rituals. Those who make an effort to hold the faith choose to do so aside from the main family- as generational threats have become too much to handle for the family to retain their status.

[ OOC Note. von Rolanthe nobles may still worship Gaisros, the only requirement is that it is a well kept secret. All House von Rolanthe members practice cultural rituals relating to the Sarnan people, this is different from worship to Gaisros. ]

House Members

  • Played - Main Line| Count, Major Adagio Von Rolanthe of Vanren (@vulnyacura) | Count Adagio vun Rolanthe holds the head of the family following his mother, Cordelia vun Rolanthe's passing. He is her first and eldest son. As a new Count, Adagio keeps the majority of his duties to his house quiet, taking trips back to Tirgunn to assess the estate once a month. The Count is proudly Leutz-Vixe and strives to continue his family name, but has sworn his life to active duty within the Lothar Order in Regalia. His time spent becoming a Darkwald was long and unforgiving, but he may be recalled through his work as a translator for the order.

Played - Main Line | Vittoria von Rolanthe (Moon_Enthusiast) - Dame Vittoria vun Rolanthe is Cordelia's second-oldest child, and a spitting image of the late Countess. She's the quintessential warrior-poet of Leutz-Viex tradition, steeped in the ideals of chivalric religiosity definitive to her self-perceived role within the wider Regalian Empire. Noted thus as a zealous but masterful swordswoman with seldom a peer among the Order, Lady Vittoria prays that she may continue to dish out Her mercy and His message through the bloody rhythm of battle. Until death at last cometh rest the crusader's own immortal soul.

Played - Main Line | Dame Jean von Rolanthe (schnoms) | Daughter of Cordelia vun Rolanthe and her second husband, a Lorhauser of questionable nobility, Jean stands out in the family for being more flowery than the rest. Despite facing occasional side-eyes, she experiences comparatively less familial pressure than her siblings. Capitalizing on this liberty, Jean delves into her passion for the arts, while serving the family as an occasional overseer to research and development of production within von Rolanthe workshops. She is a Knight of Lothar, as an Émérites.

Played - Main Line | Messamer von Rolanthe (snapped_fingers) - Messamer is the only son of Rosamée vun Rolanthe, and nephew to Adagio and Jean. He is a Unionist Celate, the only one of the family, though he is still interconnected to the Lothar and Family goals. As a priest, he seems to have a taste for the bold and regal nature of Unionism, not afraid to push his own agenda and denounce others. As a family member, it seems he is strangely disconnected to the other family members at times, though remains loyal and connected with the family.

Played - Main Line | Alice von Rolanthe (sparrower) - Alice is a retired Sudzhennya inventor-Knight of the Lothar Order, now working to provide the Order with prototypes and new equipment to make use of in their duties. She's often noted as cutthroat or mean, with a persistent glower and a dark engineer's wardrobe.

Played - Main Line | Andréa von Rolanthe (lovegoldie) - Cordelia von Rolanthe's closest sister, Andréa is a well studied Lady of the peerage. She lives within the von Rolanthe estate in Vanren, Tirgunn and is the main organizer for von Rolanthe production sites. Her time is spent in her chambers researching fervently the newest innovations within Puretek, and manufacturing methods for weapons and textiles. Often found with piles of logistical sheets scattered in her dwellings, or sending encouraging letters to both Jean and Adagio. As of the Countess's passing, she has taken her time to send the new Count letters of encouragement, and assistance to assure his image is good within Regalia. She worries greatly for her nephews and the family's future.

Played - Main Line | Sibylla von Rolanthe (candlemouse) -

Played - Main Line | Laure von Rolanthe (rowet) -
A child of Alice & sibling of Sibylla, Laure is a romantic and idealist of the world despite the grueling work their family participates in. They are a socialite at heart and favor hosting socials for their family's estate, while taking after their mother in the creation of technology & pursuing their dreams as a doctor.
  • Played - Staff | Veronika (annie_short) -

    Played - Staff |
    Julius Kirscht (umbralunaelucem) -
One of a multi-generational line of servants to House von Rolanthe, and often known as Jules or multiple other similarly prefixed names, Julius is a servant of House von Rolanthe raised loosely alongside the family before properly joining the estate staff once coming of age. While boldly Luetz-Vixe, he is much more known for his open and friendlier demeanor to most and his incredibly dedicated, diligent work. Julius in the past worked at the House's estate in Vanren, he recently was brought to Regalia to tend their estate within the crown isle.

    Played - Staff | Dorothea (ellereller) -
Doris Dolores Timothee Dorothea is a neurotic patient and odd hard-working young servant of the von Rolanthe family. Not much is known about this rather typical woman, other than her affinity towards botany. It is said that the House benefits from alternative medicinal concoctions produced by her hand, inspired nobody takes these because they are gross and useless by a medical degree achieved in Calemberg. Additionally, she often runs menial errands for the House.
  • Non-Playable | Cordelia von Rolanthe (Deceased) | The Sixth Countess of the von Rolanthe name, Dame Cordelia von Rolanthe was a quiet, devout purist of the Lothar Order. Being a Darkwald herself, her younger years were spent on the frontlines of Tirgunn's offensive to the Sanguine. She had excelled within the academy and graduated in remarkable time. Her time was spent accounting for the interests and management of her house assets, and active duty within Lothar. At the age of 45, Cordelia began spending her time closely within the Academy, taking on dozens of Squires within her lifetime. She was considered a dignified and well respected lady of the Order. As her son Adagio joined the Academy, she shifted her attention back to the frontlines, as she feared presence on the offense from the von Rolanthe name was wavering. The greater family dissuaded her from returning to active battle in her older years, though Countess von Rolanthe disregarded this, and saw their concerns as cowardice. As her eldest son and heir was finally Knighted, and had followed his plan to relocate to Regalia, she was killed in battle months after he departed.

Non-Playable | Ser Klaus Maurice (Alive) | Cordelia von Rolanthe's first husband, and father to Adagio and Vittoria von Rolanthe. Countess Cordelia and Ser Klaus had soon divorced after their second daughter's birth, Klaus von Rolanthe being an emotionally absent and distant man. Ser Klaus was firstly a Darkwald, then a Grauwald. He was notorious for his low tone, reserved manner and inability to raise his voice in combat. Rumors of the divorce circled about Klaus's inability to assimilate with the peerage, and his obsession with his abundance of penitents that often bothered the peerage associated with the Darkwald and von Rolanthe Castle. Ser Klaus is alive, and makes little note to communicate with the von Rolanthe he had previously associated with. He had defected from Lothar, joining the Bloodcast Order as a Vanatori. His name and actions caused a scandal for House von Rolanthe in 308. Rumor has it, he still roams the lands of Vanren, fighting Vampires when the Darkwald are unaccounted for. He aims to retire one day.

Non-Playable | Rosamée von Rolanthe (Alive) | Rosamée is the second sister of Cordelia, and known as one of the most cold and ruthless of the von Rolanthe Family. In contrast to Cordelia's focus upon the Darkwald, and Andréa's focus on innovations within Puretek, Rosamée acts as a pragmatic and disconnected political figure within the family focused on bolstering status and means of the family, be it via business, scheming, or other more underhanded tactics. She lives in the von Rolanthe State in Vanren, but often is on business travels. She was formerly married to Lothar Knight-Major Nikatar Haans, though he died in the line of duty shortly after their marriage, but not before having a child with Rosamée, that being Messamer. She seems to hold little relation to her son after having sent the youth to train as a Celate in Regalia. This cold and welcoming nature extends to the rest of the family.
