Comically jagged teeth line their jaw, dulled at the tip to prevent them from ever dealing serious harm. Overall, it is painfully clear that they wish to appear more threatening than they actually are. Personality How would your character express Happiness and Contentedness? Bede is typically a positive person, not one to typically let things get him down for too long. When in a typically good mood, Bede tries to spread that positivity to others. How would your character respond to experiencing Fear? While he’d hate to admit it, insurmountable odds are a frequent occurrence for Bede. When that seems to be the case, he’ll do his best to save face before turning hightail to book it. How would your character respond to experiencing Stress? Bede quickly cracks under pressure, preferring instead to follow the age-old strategy of “don’t think about it”. If something is getting to him, he’s quick to ignore it and look for something else to occupy his time. How does your character view Law and Authorities? Bede is quick to trust people, and that usually extends to those with power over him. The only exception is when they impede on his own goals, where he is quick to lash out at them in an immature fashion. How does your character feel about Races other than their own? Growing up in the slums, Bede doesn’t really care much for the differences between himself and others. That isn’t to say he finds value in it, just that it’s a non-issue to the Brood. How does your character feel about Religion for themselves, and other faiths? Bede prides himself as a disciple of the Dark Ancients. In truth, his method of worship is more for self-fulfillment than anything spiritual, but his heart is arguably in the right place when it comes to their praise. Arguably. How does your character feel about the Arcane and Magical in the world? Bede has a great interest in the Arcane, aspiring to further improve himself in body and mind through magically induced evolution. It’s hard to discern how much of this aspiration is genuine, although he swears by it personally. How does your character feel towards their family? Bede resents his family, cast aside by those he held close. While typically one to present even strangers with a toothy smile, he doesn’t seem to hold those bound by blood in high regard. What is your character the most proud of about themselves? Bede believes himself to be the strongest vampire. This is not true in any way whatsoever, and yet he is dead set on proving it to others. What motivates your character to move forward and better their life? Bede wishes to prove his strength to others, and further his own evolution through magical influence. If there is even a slight chance that he could benefit from something personally, he is likely to do it. What is your character's biggest insecurity? Bede worries that other people might not see things his way, and any passing comments about him being weird only adds another nail to the proverbial coffin. What is your character's biggest fear? Bede hates the idea of being alone. Growing up without much in terms of fundamental social development has made him dependent on the company of others, and any detachment from someone makes him just the more anxious of losing it all. Weaknesses Bede is somewhat nearsighted, but he refuses to admit it. This also has made it difficult for him to read for prolonged periods without getting a headache. Bede is extremely immature, with little to no foresight in what he does. Consequences are an afterthought to him. Bede is quick to trust people, which incidentally makes him very easy to lie to. Personality (Expanded) Bede likes to smile. Even at times where it would be inappropriate, the Brood takes great enjoyment out of showing those around him his pearly whites. At other times, he has a habit of picking on people younger than him. It’s nice to have some control over something in one’s life, even if that aspect is how hard you want to kick a sandcastle. Bede has some talent with butchering animals. Carving and assessing the quality of meat is the one thing he was able to learn from someone else to make a living, and he enjoys doing it to a degree. While not as impressive, Bede is able to shake one of his eyes independently of the other. It’s just kind of creepy to look at, though. Life Story Born to a family of Vampires somewhere in the slums of Regalia, Bede Wells’ childhood isn’t something he often likes to share. The worship of Odellballa likely had some influence in his upbringing, for worse more often than for the better, and it is why he quickly sought to cut himself free from that broken home. He found himself alone for a decent portion of his childhood, occasionally dealing with other slum dwellers to ensure he didn’t lose himself completely. It’s during one of these passing moments that he meets a butcher. No one of any real note, beyond the fact that they took pity on the Brood and took him under their wing as an apprentice. Bede found some form of fulfillment in this line of work and considers their mentor closer family than anyone bound by blood. Ironically enough, it’s the topic of blood that turned things for the worse. While away from his work, Bede came across a gaggle of vampires traveling throughout the slums. They saw the Brood as one of their own, and not wanting to be excluded, Bede allowed himself to join his newfound peers. He had become a young adult by then, and was unfortunate enough to experience infection of the bloodbound curse himself in his interactions with them. Infection opened the Brood’s eyes, setting him on a new path that was only further enabled by those around him. He was no longer content with being a butcher’s apprentice, and strived to improve himself in any way he could. They began to teach him ways to utilize Void essences through Sorcery, something he eventually got the handle of after some mistakes. It was then that he was sure he was as strong as he could be, which comparatively was still fairly weak in terms of Vampires. Nevertheless, he was proud of his new self, and sought to show the world. Sadly, his world began with his mentor. At first, they didn’t recognize their apprentice, and once they did they wish they didn’t. Bede was shunned by the person they once held in high regard, abandoned once more and cast into the slums. This was the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back, and he swore then to show the rest of the city just how right he was. Driven by spite, the Graaling set off on their journey of self improvement.
