His mother had a hard time conceiving their first child, so when Vulwyn was born they were ecstatic. Though he was noticeably smaller than other babies which caused a bit of alarm they realized after they checked everything else he was declared a healthy and strong child. For a while, his parents were quite overprotective if one could describe it that way, but slowly started to relax as they learned how to walk and talk. His mother quickly became pregnant once again much faster than the time before and gave birth a year later to his sister(Allisa) and then a brother(Kharis) two years later. Around the age of 5, he started helping his mother in the kitchen doing simple things like mixing and learning about ingredients and how they would affect the food. He took a liking to it, quickly picking up what his mother would teach him. Once he became comfortable in the kitchen, he would begin to make meals for everyone. These could range from meals for his entire family to small lunches or dinners for people who may not be around to eat with everyone. He learned to cater to a variety of tastes in his own family with his cooking and baking. He had a fondness for cooking, so he would always put as much effort as possible into making the best meals. Up until around 10 he would practice cooking though they also started picking up on alchemy from their father. He first started learning basic materials for alchemy because as the materials got more advanced it could lead to more dangerous potions. Vulwyn did not take as much interest in alchemy. Due to the difficulty of it, Vulwyn would often find himself spacing out while he was being taught. Because of this, he never learned much past the basics. His father also decided to take this time to show him how to start gardening so he could learn to care for some of the plants that alchemy requires. Sometimes he would spend more time with his parents though because many of the kids were scared to play with him in case they accidentally hurt him since he was small. There was one person he would go and visit. They were a bit of an elder in their village and would take time to teach Vulwyn magic. It was simple but useful as the magic allowed him to enchant their home with spells that could keep it safe. It took him about a year to actually be able to do it himself but was proud when he did. After learning how to enchant his home they moved onto the next spell which was to harden their hands so that they may not get cut or scratched up. He ended up learning this spell much faster than the home enchantments, only taking a few months. The last spell he learned was one that shot a magical projectile which took him a while to control. He spent another year trying to master the spell to get consistent results for power. Though their aim needed some extra work. He would continue to practice these skills until he was 15. On the day of his birthday, he would undergo the Trial of Estel. Feeling nervous they went into the tree not knowing what to think. As they tried to calm their mind relaxing in the tree, halfway through their stomach growled and disturbed their meditation. He would step out from the tree and when greeted by his parents they apologized many times over as they got hungry halfway through and broke their concentration. Another year goes by, his sister passing her first time while he ends up failing a second time. On his 17th birthday, he felt ready to take on the test having eaten well before and also being well-rested. He entered the tree and stayed there the entire day. He came out successful and his parents were happy he had passed on his third try. Rumors started to spread a bit about how it took him two tries and his sister completed it her first. Some speculated that maybe his brother would have the same challenge when he was old enough to try. As the year went by Vulwyn started taking care of their siblings while their parents focused on work. When his brother turned 15 many people who were curious as to what would happen kept their distance watching but his brother ended up passing on their first try. For a while, many would whisper but eventually forget about it though it left a bit of a blemish on Vulwyn’s self-esteem. When he turned 18 he started to work with the Avanthar that protected the village doing small scouting missions. As they noticed them progressing one of them offered to teach him how to hold and move with a dagger as it was a small and easily concealable weapon. He enjoyed their time with the Avanthar because it felt as if it gave him a chance to get out of the house and explore. With each day he traveled further and expanded the area he would explore. After turning twenty Vulwyn traveled out further than normal finding a young-looking lady. She seemed reserved and well dressed, but her clothing seemed a bit more ritualistic. She noticed the boy and offered a warm smile asking him if he would like to know what she was doing. Vulwyn found himself captivated by this woman who had these animal-like horns and her arms looked like that of bark. Her hair was weaved with vines and she had the eyes of a deer along with tufts of fur on her body. The woman noticed his curiosity as she talked and offered to bestow upon him the horns and bark upon them. Vulwyn would stay silent, sitting and pondering whether to accept or deny the offer. Hesitantly Vulwyn agreed thinking how unique it would be. The lady would give him the mutations and be on her way as it started to get late. Vulwyn also needed to return home. When he arrived back at his house and walked in the air was silent as they all looked at him. His mother seemed angry as she stood pointing towards the door as the words “get out” had escaped her lips. Vulwyn was shocked and tried to say something but she only started to scream louder and with that Vulwyn ran. He ran for so long through the night not sure where to go until he found the same woman. She seemed apologetic as she looked to Vulwyn expressing her feeling as she was the same cast out for wanting to be different. The woman offered to let him follow her to the closest city. After that he stayed with the woman until one night a year or two later she disappeared leaving a note behind. The note suggested visiting one last city before he would decide to settle down or continue a nomadic style of life. That is when he decided to travel to Regalia.
